As someone who doesnt use any social media, everyone thinks "why dont you have instagram? you are so weird!" or snapchat, or facebook. I had to make a stupid ass linkedin account because im trying to find a job after 10 years of being self-employed and i feel like an old person trying to use young peoples stuff.

This is not a talk about how bad facebook or twitter is, just that if its better to not use it.

Because social media is good nor bad, its time wasting. You can make friends if you go out, you can talk to them by going out and live a good life. I have a facebook page that I haven't updated for over 6 years and log into once every couple of months.

I use the messenger function to stay in touch with a few friends who live in different countries. I'd rather use whatsapp, wechat or something for that but they won't have it.

YouTube sucks because the algorithm is so hellbent on getting you into a watchloop, so it reccomends you the same channels on the frontpage OVER AND OVER AND OVER. YouTube used to be a fun site because you always had a chance to go to "The Weird Parts of YouTube". Now if you watch a video over one subject, all the algorithm will give you related videos about that subject. Try searching up iPhone X, CONGRATULATIONS! now you will see iPhone X videos for the next fucking week.

Facebook just plain sucks. I never realized how much I don't give a shit about the people around me, or the narrative that they try to present on the internet. I don't give a fuck about your baby, the function you went to, and we didn't even talk in highschool/middle school so we aren't "friends".

/pol/'s popularity came from all of the "sjw" stuff that got a lot of exposure in 2012-2015. I do agree that some people go overboard with it even if I agree with what they're saying. The only social media I've ever used are youtube and Veeky Forums, and I rarely ever comment/post.
