I come from /cgl/ and I've never been or posted on this board, so sorry if I do something wrong. I'm tired of being overweight. I'm a 4'11" woman who currently is at 147 lb. My measurements are 39-29-42. People say I don't look big but I know I am, and I'm sick of being like this. I dread doing exercise, but on occasion I force myself to, I just can't maintain the routine. I have changed my eating habits during weekdays but I sort of cheat during weekends (I'm pretty sure I have a sugar addiction, and I have a horrible habit of eating sweets). So far I have been maintaining my weight, but I don't want that. I want to lose a good 20-30 lb, but I have no idea how to kill my shitty habits and maintain a good exercise routine. I used to walk once an hour, 5 days a week, and do targeting exercises. I would really like to shed arm and waist fat, and only a few inches off my bust. I'm desperate so any advice is appreciated.

do cardio and remove temptations (sweets) from your life. also read the sticky since it has all the info you need to succeed

For the addiction try this, it actually helped me out :

When you crave ANYTHING sweet, take 1 small block of chocolate and eat it. Immediately after that drink two glasses of water. The water metabolises the chocolate and tricks your body into thinking there is extra sugar. You in the end feel fuller after only one small block of chocolate.

cut soda, that'll help with the majority of your sugar addiction

make multiple meals ahead of time so you dont feel urged to go to a fast food place because you dont want to make anything

You can't spot reduce fat. There's no special way to lose fat from your arms and waist while maintaining your bust size. That just comes down to genetics/luck.

Download the MyFitnessPal app and drink nothing but water. Liquid calories will fatten you up without filling you up.

Cut processed sugar out completely (fruit is fine). After a month or so you will no longer crave it.

protip: temptation is easier to avoid the further away it is. In your case, the easiest way to avoid sweets is to not have them in your house in the first place.
You may discover that the problem isn't an addiction so much as you being in a situation where junk food is what's most readily available. The solution to this is to cook healthy food in bulk, put it in the fridge and reheat that when you're hungry.

Also, lifting is easier and more efficient than cardio. It hurts less and most of the workout time is spent on facebook between sets. The only piece of equipment that is really mandatory is a pull up bar.

If you're addicted to sweets, the solution, like with any other addiction, is to cut the addiction out. To give you an idea, my wife was following a pretty stringent diet (not for weight, but dermatological issues) where she was advised to cut out sweets entirely and to eat only one fruit per day (e.g. one apple), and even that was subject to further restrictions like no bananas. One thing that helped was to replace one pleasure with another. Replace sweet foods with greasy foods. My wife did lots of fried foods (mostly with coconut oil). Some people say fatty diets are bad, but even if that is so (I don't think so personally) it is a lesser evil to high sugar diets.

That's an interesting idea. Ifyou're eating chocolate, go for the dark high-percent chocolate. Look for ones that say "90% cacao" or some similar percentage. Not only is there much less sugar, but it leaves you more satisfied.

That's as far as I got before making a point of not reading your post and directing you to the sticky. But I did notice you're 147lb and 4'11 which unless your cosplaying 2010 snooki you need to be aiming 100-110lb to be considered blah, and that number goes up to about 120lb if you do 2-3 years of actual lifting and correct dieting. But I don't know if you're looking to get swole because I never read your post because it doesn't deserve it's own thread, snowflake. Go to the top and look for the little raptor doing laps for the sticky and go to your containment thread /fat and /QTDDTOT. If you need motivation we have /FPH.

I can’t recommend lifting weights enough, don’t think of cardio as something you do at the gym but find a hobby where you do it and enjoy it. Tennis, squash, running, kickboxing, boxing, volleyball, football these are all really really fun instead of torturing yourself running on a treadmill
