Try and do other supplementary exercises - I STARTED BENCHING and my pushups doubled from 20 to 40 on a good day(BUT TYPICALLY 35).

It's either good or great, depending on your height, weight, and body fat percentage. 50 is good if you're a skelly, and great if you have some mass.

if i already bench press, does random pushups help me in any way?

I'm slowly gaining it back though, when I first started I was barely 100 lbs

I like pushups because I can drop and do them anytime, anywhere.
I want to build at least a little bit of strength before bothering with a gym membership

Tfw Veeky Forums isnt fit. Im dyel as fuck and can get 50 pushups on an APFT. All i see is shitty advice on this thread. If you want to increase pushups do different kinds of pushups and also do pullups. If you play vidya i suggest doing like 10 each round. I have a sign going to my pantry that says "do 20 pushups, fatboy"
