Any sane person if going to see a whole list of disheartening shit just visiting a university campus for a day. If you truly hold any sort of right wing values, and want to function on a day to day, you are going to have to learn to ignore the negative and try to focus your time and effort on cultivating the positive, or you will be depressed, angry and consumed with hate.

I'd imagine it'd be depressing to be consistently let down by countrymen and by his own following. Truth is, just as in every political movement, there is a lot of bottom of the barrel trash who attach themselves to a label, and only use the current situation as an excuse for inaction or inadequacy. If that's the case, why doesn't he just try to join a community that's actually constructive like a religion? A lot of the problems in the world right now have many layers to them and don't have an easy solution to them, if the US/Nato/EU backed out of the Middle East to try and stop the refugee crisis, then another entity like Russia, Saudi Arabia, or China would take its place in the power vacuum and the situation would become even worse. That is just one example.
