I'm a pretty old dude (36) and this isn't true anymore. US had a lot of respect in the 80s and 90s. If you were an american tourist in Europe people gave you respect. Early 2000s the US lost this and nowdays the american culture is looked down. In many industries the US just commercialized and dumbed down the original. American tourists are always loud and obnixious. Culturally you don't dominate anything.
