also, you need to start eating. the only proper way is gaining mass, then cutting.

no no no, cut down the rep range down to 10-15 and work with higher weight. Make sure to focus on the concentric contraction (flexing your glutes). your 3 glutes are more responsive
higher loads and volume; 20 reps is more like endurance training than hypertrophy.

also make sure at peak flexion your knee should be forming a 90 degree angle.

don't waste your time with hollywood meme exercises like donkey kicks and that trash, sumo dead and hip thrusts are more than enough to build an admirable butt.

watching the glute science video now and it looks like what i'm doing already. she's mentioning bret contreras, and i'm following his program for the most part. i made it through to the end of his program and changed it a little bit so there's less arms and stuff.

the 20 rep range comes from bret contreras though. in his program you just around different rep ranges on different days and they all change drastically every 4 weeks. i'll just give you his recs...

month 1:
A: 3x20 barbell glute bridges
Accessory 1x20 cable standing abduction

Yes, that's what I do personally. I reach for hypertrophy for every workout, usually doing a 12/10/8/6 protocol (that's 4 sets of the respective reps) and a last set where I train for failure. since each set decreases in reps, I add more weight for the set, and my failure set I usually do it with the weight I started with, or more if I have progressed.

I've made some great arm gains and made good leg gains when I wasn't skipping leg day.

Also make sure you're working out your lower back: every muscle in your lower body helps towards your booty gains, but make sure you're not overdoing quad-focused squats. Also, are you doing lunges? they're great too

I don't recommend failure for squats at all, but for everything else it's a must. on the days you're resting/not working out glutes, make sure you're hitting lower back.

P.S. what's your maintenance calories/meal plan/macros? this is vital info.

my glute always burn when doing the 20 reps and the accessories. they don't burn when doing the 5 rep heavy sets though. does this mean anything?

i keep making changes to it. this mostly follows the strong curves template. i like the banded hip abduction as my glute accessory because it burns so much and i can feel the size difference in "pump" after doing them. guess i could work lunges in somewhere.

so i figured out my macros sorta yesterday, and you're gonna say it's a bad idea but ugh idk. i'm so tired of being fat.

kcal limit is 1500, and i'm aiming for 1g protein per lb of me at a minimum. so hopefully around 130-200g protein/day? a lot of protein powder and eggs, is my plan. with little else besides some veggies.

i'm starting with those bodyweight ones because they work so well to activate my glutes before getting into the barbell work. they're no joke and my glutes are burning at the end of that first bodyweight set

IMO that's just maintanance-tier, doubt that will give you the gains. if your glutes are not burning at the 5 rep heavy range, try to either increase the sets or the reps: looks like you can do more than 5 reps so why not push it to 8/9?

Do not increase soy intake if you’re already on estrogen. Soy estrogen is really weak and clogs up the limited estrogen receptors in your body. Those should be taken up by good estrogen.

A stronger butt is a more shapely butt. That routine you posted will no doubt give you an ass eventually, but it’s the equivalent of telling someone who has never lifted in his life a brosplit will turn him into Greg Pitt in a year. You WILL get results so long as you have progressive overload, but without a good strength base (from lifting heavier) you would have a good basal strength level to optimize your hypertrophy. By workin on improving your strength first, before adding in a hypertrophy routine (assuming proper nutrition) you’ll make noticeably better gains in the same time it would’ve taken you with just a hypertrophy routine.
