When did you realize lifting is meme and cycling is the GOAT?
Tfw this machine is the gym
It's certainly not a complete workout, but hot-damn is it better than sitting in traffic.
It is the god-tier transportation method if you live anywhere even semi-urban
I live in Madison, WI and biking is my main mode of transportation. When I started going to Uni, I would bike everywhere. Over a year, I lost a good amount of weight and started lifting which improved my overall quality of life.
If you live in a city, sell your car and start biking everywhere. Cars are a stress builder, but biking is a stress relief.
I bike a lot at uni since theres a lot of routes unpopulated by cars.
Pretty neat stuff honestly.
I raise you pic related (not mine, but similar) and a hundred miles or so of fire roads right out the back door
>road riding is cool I guess but never did much for me
Ride my shit mt bike around hopping curbs and generally being an idiot. 10/10 fun and works as cardio. Im upgrading the bike as i break stuff and its almost an ok bike now
I cycling in a capitol city in Australia, my daily commute is basically Mad Max. It seems the cagers vs cyclist war will go on until the guzzoline runes dry.
>tfw too poor to buy a road bike
My 20yr old mountain bike is falling apart, gonna have to make a decision soon
Cyclist for life here, only downside is you can't haul guitar amps and drumsets easily.
That said, it's my goto form of transportation and my road bike is the best investment I've ever made
Rode 6 miles round trip today in the snow because my friend was all "hey man lets go for a ride, it's so fun!" Fell on some snow-covered ice while a truck was coming right at me. I pulled my bike off the road and realized I was kneeling in a muddy puddle. As I rose I saw my jeans were ripped and my knee was bleeding. There's a lump like someone stuffed half a softball under my knee.
Thanks bikeriding. Never again.
>want to pick up cycling over long distances
>too scared to cycle on the road with cars
Bummer dude but I wouldn't just give up over one bad experience under shitty conditions.
Nah I was only joking about giving up. I ride to work every day. My bike isn't designed for the snow, so the slightest patch of ice and down I went. The rest of the story is true though. I'm icing my knee now.
I've never had to ride in those kind of conditions but I imagine it is enjoyable on a fat bike or something. We get hella rain but it doesn't really freeze thankfully. Glad you're ok bro, sounds painful
>be me
>basically been using my bicycle to get around for my entire life because i'm a worthless shut in aspie faggot with nowhere to go, also my college was a major biking town
>live in bay area california, use combo of bike and the mediocre subway system to go where i need including work
>finally get driver's license this year at age 25
>have no motivation to buy a car because it's so much hassle to deal with getting insurance, registration, gas, maintenance, plus the stress of dealing with traffic and terrible drivers especially where I am
>but since this is america you basically need a car to go anywhere
Fuck driving in the bay. It's not worth it bro.
man i cant believe the shit i see here even in my very limited driving. people even did super illegal shit in my fucking driver's test
i always see people complaining nonstop about drivers here as well, like people not using turn signals, not using headlights in the rare rain, drive across 4 lanes of freeway traffic without signaling, all that shit. is that what you mean as well? i dont know why people here are so bad, what makes them like this instead of drivers in other areas?
good thread
>tfw no NYRs to deal with
unless someone has learn to drive as a new years resolution, in which case you are dead
>>unless someone has learn to drive as a new years resolution, in which case you are dead
what does that mean
which capital?
Perth...
build my own bike this summer (pic very related). great hobby and it also teaches you how to repair just about anything on a bike. the handlebar angle is a little weird in the picture because it was taken mid setup, it is horizontal now.
>those pedals
I love cycling but commuting can be a bitch in this country.
>cagers are fucking insane
>retarded helmet and speed laws
>asian commuters everywhere blocking paths at 2km/h
>have to dodge retarded pedestrians that don't understand keeping left or bike only signs
>all in 35 degree heat and blistering sun
>often covered in sweat by your destination
>always broken glass or cars parked in bike lanes
>other cyclists are all absolute wankers
I use that bike as my everyday ride to work (wearing leather sole shoes), to the gym or to get groceries... so putting SPD or whatever on them would be just stupid. The "average" pedal is just pure chink shit so all I am left with are mountain bike pedals. They are pretty good though.
That's really cool
Nice job

Enjoy your destroyed prostate (from pressure on said organ) and your osteoporosis (from lack of stimulus to bone growth).
Hi Mac
Why dont you just angle the handle bards down more?
