Anyone do runs in shithole neighbourhoods? Stories?

What do you do about shin splints? I got them first time ever today and Jesus I never want to run again

>Your goal
Getting faster on long runs.

>Your progress
Finished training block last week, now transitioning to higher mileage 4w cycles. Looking to explore a bit the hills nearby, maybe adding details them on openstreetmap.

I'm assuming you are fit aerobically but your legs are not used to current mileage. I'd rest and recover, then increase workload progressively. If newbie check your form.

Right now maintaining, though building up aerobic base extremely slowly (currently at 20mpw). In January, I'll start ramping up my long runs and doing speed drills again. I'm thinking of doing a marathon in the middle of March then using that as a step to prepare for a 50 miler in early May.

Is this the new convenient excuse for the fact that you are too chickenshit to run in public?

I’ve always loved running. Recently I’ve been dieting and lost 70+ lbs, and I’ve been working in running to help.
I haven’t gone consistently until recently, but it took about seven separate days to finally do a mile, and since then I’ve been going consistently.
I don’t feel anything from it, but is it a bad idea to be so heavy and run?
I was 280-ish when I started and am 240lbs now, and is there any risk involved?

Thoughts on the Pose Method?

/run/ please help:

I am training for the Royal Marines PJFT, which is a treadmill test that consists of two 1.5 mile/2.4 km runs separated by a minute rest. The first run must be completed in

Non-ant version.

Some neighbourhoods just really are that bad.

Grab a tennis ball and roll your calves on them. Do it slowly 10 times each leg.

My entire senior year of cross country consisted of this

How long does it take to go from 15km/ week mileage (5km x 3 runs) to being able to run a half marathon?

>Your goal
3 miles in 21 minutes
>Your progress
2.8 miles in 30 minutes

I missed a run on Friday due to a medical issue but I'll be back at it on Monday. Improving my time every session, though, so I'm feeling good.

>Your goal
Sub 9:00 in the 1.5 mile, get comfortable at a 8:00 pace for longer runs

>Your progress
just diagnosed with arthritis of the big toe joints so pic related

did almost this, started mid-Aug until the Army Run 2017. took walking break up to 2 minutes a total of 4 or 5 times during the run. total 2h32m but only wanted to finish. it was fucking hot that day and I sweat a lot. my running partner and i both had PFPS. without injury i'm sure it could be even better

> Goal
Get back to 16 minute two mile time.
> How's it going
Decent. Have a long way to go. Really let myself go after leaving the Army. Working on quitting smoking, running 3x weekly, and upping the pace weekly.

Finished my first marathon today.

> Off road, lots of hills, snow on the ground, snowing through most of it.
> Finished well, totally happy now.
> Won't be able to walk much tomorrow...

Anyone's got tips for runner's knee?

runningwritings.com/2012/03/injury-series-uncovering-role-of-hip.html is gud imo
