dont have to do a extended water fast, try out Intermittent fasting or OMAD (one meal a day), they are slower but pretty effective at fat loss

Hey dude, I always start my diets with little steps. Don't eat that little treat you want. Trade one side of your unhealthy meal for salad. Drink water instead of that soft drink.
Achieving the little steps always encourages me to make bigger ones.

Maybe try HIIT, I started myself not so long ago, great for weight loss. Im at good weight for my height but its simply in the wrong places, its more fat than muscle than what I want(high BF%). Abs starting to show now after having a belly for two years, you might want to read about it.
