is the keto diet really just a meme diet? i just want to lose weight and it seems to work great for that, but if it is just a meme what should i do when im done with it?

>asks question about keto diet
>posts pic with potatoes

did keto summer '17 and lost 30 lbs in a month

real great for cutting, not a meme, works for bulking too, just up your protein and gradually work some carbs back in, keep it < ~100g/day

fuck you i didnt notice the potatoes

Do Keto with IF.

If you can work your way up to OMAD with 2 48's a week. Basically you are only eating 5 Keto Friendly meals a week. The weight will drop fast.

Its pretty good, Lost 50kg in 4 Months.

It Will fuck Up your gains tho

how so?

what is a 48? and is it tough adjusting to one meal?

48 hour fast

omad is difficult if you have people pestering you about it, family, GF, coworkers etc

otherwise its just willpower

The first days the body Will try to adapt and Will consume a lot of muscle, I loss 5kg of muscle at the start, after that its alright.

is it going to be hard to build muscle on the diet?

> i just want to lose weight and it seems to work great for that,
It works exactly as well as any other diet with the same amount of calories

Yes, body cannot use ketones as energy as much as it can use glycogen. It's good for weight loss and seizures.

can anyone recommend any good keto books to me please?

It good, I lost 1000 kg in 3 seconds, just keep your gains up and shit

>t. has no idea what they're talking about and basing their knowledge of ketones on anecdotal examples as evidenced by the mention of seizures

I would suggest doing a strict Keto diet for a week before going to one meal a day. Once you are fully in Ketosis you don't get hungry because your body is burning fat.

I seriously doubt you lost 11 pounds of muscle lol

Well, I was eating 400 cal/day because I hated my body, but at the end It was worth It.

The worst thing IS the fucking keto flu

I wanted to die a lot of times I got kicked out from keto.

Well I'm sure how you can see how that's misleading as hell dude lol

>keto made me lose 11 lbs of muscle
>oh yeah I was also eating 400 cals at the time

Glad it was worth it though man I can't imagine only eating 400 cals/day

keto is awful. Only benefit is that it makes you feel more full.
It will destroy your test levels, your bone density, and make you feel like shit. Also, if you're eating a lot of meat, you aren't in ketosis due to all of the protein, as that will induce gluconeogenesis which is essentially just converting amino acids to glucose i.e. carbs. A true keto diet is essentially just butter, oil, some bacon(emphasis on SOME), some low carb nuts/seeds, etc.
Your breath will smell like shit and your health will go down. You will probably get major acne.

If you want to survive the gainz loss, your macros should be like this everyday

That's not keto you fucking retard, that's just a high protein high fat diet.

It was fucking hell but well, I Will post before/after 4 Months of keto

This was in august

After

Nice progress user keep it up, now start lifting and do a recomp

Yesterday I checked and I was on keto

Good shit dude, what was the before and after weight?

Yes, I know all the downsides from keto but It helped me a lot in a very short time, thanks for the cheers we are all going to make it!

142kg to 91.5kg

Its water weight from all the glycogen being flushed out of your body

no it won't you moron. the body will never consume muscle before fat unless you're like 4% BF or lower

>memes get the president of the greatest country in the world elected
>memes fund cancer and human genome research
>memes empower humanity to go one step beyond and basically is the driving force behind the new evolutionary process
>thinking saying "meme [insert thing]" is not giving the greatest honor, the honor of the thing being intertwined with memeforce

were lad, it's not like you won't make it, but step it up a bit, it's no longer 2K17

Can confirm.

Listen: it's not totally a meme, but it doesn't make sense for a couple reasons. First, it's 'extreme' and you can't/shouldn't stay on it forever. Second, since it's extreme, it doesn't teach you to change your overall eating habits in healthy ways, so when you have to go off it, you're probably going to just go back to the way you used to eat and gain all the weight back -- and maybe more.

The smart thing to do is *change your lifestyle permanently*. You have to make a committment to this if you want permanent weightloss and control over your body composition.

To do this you need to first start tracking what you're eating; calories and macros. Daily. Accurately and honestly. This will be a pain in the ass at first. Second, you need to *limit*, but not *eliminate entirely* carbohydrates. That way you encourage your body to burn bodyfat for energy, but you won't be as exhausted as keto will make you. Be sure to mix cardio training inbetween lifting so you have a chance to burn bodyfat, lifting alone won't do it. Come back in 3 months and tell us how you do.

Calorie counting helps but it's not completely necessary. It's easier and better to just do daily weigh-ins. It helps keeps habits in check when you're getting a numeric representation of how good/bad you're doing.
Lose some weight? Keep doing what you're doing. Weight loss slowing down? Push yourself harder. Gain weight? Take a guess as to what you did to gain that wieght, experiment with your diet and exercise habits until you isolate the common factor, and take it out of your daily routine.
This also prevents rubber banding, as daily weigh-ins are an extremely simple habit to take up and a difficult one to drop if you're committed to making a change. Once you reach your goal weight it's easy to keep the habit up so you can maintain.

you didn't do keto on 400 cals/day, you starved yourself.

>Calorie counting helps but it's not completely necessary.
I spent TEN YEARS trying to get control of my mass and bodycomp and that's the Magic Bullet that enabled that to happen. Otherwise you're just guessing what you're eating.
>It's easier and better to just do daily weigh-ins.
LOL, NO, that's dumb as a box of rocks. Once a week is all you need to do. Saturday or Sunday morning, after you've taken a thorough dump and peed, before eating or drinking anything, butt-naked. Weighing yourself daily makes you obsess over progress you don't see day to day. Weekly progress is what you want to see.
>It helps keeps habits in check when you're getting a numeric representation of how good/bad you're doing.
No it makes you OBSESSIVE and stressed for no reason.
>Lose some weight? Keep doing what you're doing. Weight loss slowing down? Push yourself harder. Gain weight? Take a guess as to what you did to gain that wieght, experiment with your diet and exercise habits until you isolate the common factor, and take it out of your daily routine.
Obsess, obsess, obsess.
>This also prevents rubber banding, as daily weigh-ins are an extremely simple habit to take up and a difficult one to drop if you're committed to making a change. Once you reach your goal weight it's easy to keep the habit up so you can maintain.
Nope, nope, nope.

Also:
>Lose some weight? Keep doing what you're doing. Weight loss slowing down? Push yourself harder. Gain weight? Take a guess as to what you did to gain that wieght, experiment with your diet and exercise habits until you isolate the common factor, and take it out of your daily routine.
You *make a plan* and you *stick to the plan*, not make shit up as you go from day-to-day based on variations in bodyweight that only really have to do with state of overall hydration, any food left over in your gut, or whatever. You'll drive yourself insane trying to do shit that way and end up failing.

You're obsessive on calorie counting so you don't want to admit that it's not some magical gift that instantly makes people make better decisions.
>Once a week weigh-in
>Weighing yourself daily makes you obsess
Maybe it makes YOU obsess, speak for yourself. It's important to note your weight trends and you get a much clearer graph from weighing daily. You can see where you hit bumps in the road, and seeing those bumps is the first step toward flattening them and making better choices in the future.
>OBSESSIVE and stressed for no reason
Again, you need to speak for yourself. Just because you're so limp-wristed that a single bad weigh in is enough to demotivate you doesn't mean everyone cares that much. Of course weekly progress is the goal but you need to know where and when you slip up, and that can fly under the radar if you're only weighing in once a week.
>more anecdotal shit about being so weak-willed that some numbers hurt your feelings and make you reach for the nearest tub of ice cream
Just fuck off.

>You *make a plan* and you *stick to the plan*, not make shit up as you go
Except you fucking need to, since different people have different bodies with different needs and different reactions to foods and exercise. You need to know what personally affects your body and how so you can eventually form a plan to stick to that works for you. I found out beef causes me to gain weight, so now I stay away from it. You need to make discoveries like this about yourself so you know what steps to take in the future.
>You'll drive yourself insane trying to do shit that way
I've seen way more people go insane with calorie counting than just getting on a scale each day. There's nothing remotely insane about a daily weigh-in.
