Under 3 and you are fasting and BCAAs might be beneficial. You can go to 6 if you are too full to fit your calories in.

If you're doing it for weightloss it doesn't matter. The amount of meals you eat should be based off of what is most comfortable/natural for you to maintain.

The "eat six small meals" fitmag nonsense was a fundamental misunderstanding of the thermic effect of food and basic math.
