i've always been a dyel and now at 31 I'm in the best shape of my life so I don't really give a fuck.

mostly isometric compound exercises. i want into statham mode

Wasted golden youth

I've done absolutely nothing to keep in shape.
Am 31 now and getting fat, 114kg 6'0.
Not sure where to start on fitness. Have cut out most of the beer I was drinking and I never had a taste for soda.
Thinking about going to a gym and get a trainer to make me a plan.
My job keeps me kinda strong but my belly keeps growing.
Advice?

...

Running 1-2x per week, lifting 3x per week, martial arts 2x per week, cycling in warmer months, cross-country skiing in winter if there is snow. Also, I should dedicate more time to stretching and maybe meditation. You start to recognize the value of these things as you're getting older lol.

Depends what you want, you can go to a gym and lift or stay at home and do bw routine or make a home gym.
What MA do you do? Do you have goals?
naisu, user, pic related is my goal back

Started Orangetheory because I'm a gross fatbody. Using it to supplement my lifting. Lift 2x weekly, OT 2x. Breddy gud.

Advice for men under 30?

24yo here

Use the official thumbnail op

I was considering making a home gym after I setup my workshop at my new house but I realise that I will likely have bad form and will damage myself.
bw routine (bodyweight?) what's the gestalt of this?

picrelated. my legs look stupid, should I just run?

>picrelated

Don't think it's too late to start anything. Don't be. A people pleaser. Make your own decisions, learn from your mistakes and don't make excuses. Get disciplined, but also cut yourself some slack for your shortcomings and strive to do better everyday.

yea, form is a concern, but you can injure yourself with bodyweight (bw) exercises just as easily, I do mix of bw+lifts, take it slow and progress in reps before I add weight, pic related is my progression, so like I pick a weight I can lift for 3x3 and then continue using that weight for 3months while progressing in reps

you do realise that pic means
>30+ not allowed
right?

>tall
>white
>pink nipples

i'd let you fuck me

Calisthenics for men our age is idea.
However, you're going to have to leave your ego at the door or you'll fuck your joints forever.

Look up convict conditioning, you are your own gym, infinite intensity, Bodyweight Strength Training Anatomy also look into Couch to 5k.

If couch to 5k leaves your knees wrecked then skip it and start going for long walks, biking, swimming, doing jumping jacks to build up to jogging.

Jogging is nice, but it can fuck you up if you're not adequately prepared for it.

A-aren't all white people's nipples pink?

Nice chart, thanks.
Would it be better to cut, then lift / just lift not cut / do both at the same time?
I have probably 20kg of fat I could drop

it would mean that it there was a red cross through 30+

Have a go.

There’s so many things that im now doing at age 32 I wish I tried when I was your age.

OP is that really you in the pic? are you natty? what are your lifts

>Turning 35 this spring
>Was DYEL fat fuck this time last year
>Dropped 95lbs via lifting, LISS, and clean eating
>Now doing BJJ and continuing to improve physique and function
>Now in arguably the best shape I've ever been in
If you're wondering if it's too late to start - stop wondering and get after it.

I was told that when I hit +30 I would have no problem attracting 18-22 cuties, but all I have is post wall whores hitting on me.

Why did /fit lie to me?

They're supposed to be. I'm ~6% Jew and it was enough to brown me.

It's not that guys get young girls at 30, it's that old chads still easily get girls at 30 and even 40.

need to buy a boat

no, red circle is limit, like speed limit, you can't go over the number in a red cross, in my country at least
completely natty, I lift for aesthetics bro
Personally, I started with 12kg less than my current weight, I lifted and ate more, got to my goal weight (90kg/200lbs) and just maintained that for years, if you want to drop weight, just by starting to exercise you will need more calories to maintain your weight, so you will drop some weight naturally, it will be slow as fuck. If you decide to cut some weight, still start lifting, your progress will be slower, though
Pic related is how I started with bw training.
as for your nipples, you had late/low hormone puberty, going through puberty darkness your 'private parts' I have dark brown dick and brown nipples, though I'm as pale as albino
>1985+32

About to bust out a full body session, take my power oldbros

>so how are you keeping yourself in shape, oldfags?
Scooby's intermediate home workout and jogging on the street. I don't miss gyms.

It's a squat and OHP day on GSLP. Is old man strength real?

>Is old man strength real?
I suppose it depends if you worked manual labor your entire life, for those who didn't train at all.
thanks, breh, triceps+biceps day for me later today youtube.com/watch?v=WeOWgtpveb0
Nice

running three times a week. usually about 10miles worth. lifting 4 or 5 times a week if i can. not eating crap fast food and no sugary drinks.

>tfw 27 and feel like an old man
>tfw bald, in constant pain and no energy or libido

is there even any point living until 30? I don't want to live at this point

30 and feel fucking good man.
Just be kind to yourself and you will be fine.
Especially when you hit financial freedom

good news is, that you can fix all that shit
except for being bald
embrace it, don't hide it

33, 1 year of lifting, oly and some bodybuilding shit lately.
Work hard, and those gains will come. The people will notice.

18-22 is trash tier normally, try to aim for mid twenties, those are the women that are still young enough to be juicy but experienced enough to not bore you out of your mind (both in bed and in conversation).

Going to get down to business with a girl on her 23rd Bday this friday, so I guess I'm somewhat of a hypocrite (nearly 32 here).

>33 been doing nsuns 5/3/1 lp meme program for 2 weeks now
>my 1rms are sitting at 1/2/3/4 or right near it
>everything hurts all the time (not like DOMS)

am i too old for this? diddlys almost killed me this morning

you most likely need to rest, how often do you lift ?

No fag, don't give yourself an excuse. When I was your age I was at the gym at 0445 or running outside in the dark at 5 degrees fahrenheit. Drink more water, stretch, and SLEEP.

t. 36yo

5 days a week. the volume is pretty wild on this routine

i get up at 4:30am and lift from 5 to about 6:50. i definitely need more sleep, tough to get in when i get up that early tho

yeaa.. take it easy for a few days, see if it helps

30 isn't old at all yet. Your body shouldn't be having any difficulty until after 35.

tomorrow is bench and i gotta set a rep pr

i think i'll give this ludicrous program another week cycle and see if i either adjust to the volume or die. try to sleep and eat more in the meantime.

godspeed

Started weightlifting a couple of years ago after being an all purpose gym rat.

Fuck it's hard. Squatting four times a week destroys me. Really wish I started younger.

>Started weightlifting a couple of years ago after being an all purpose gym rat.
>Started ... after being an all purpose gym rat.
>started ... gym rat
I think you have the term confused there, bud

If that back isn't roids

30. I'm doing a routine based on Mike Israetel's hypertrophy guide. 5 days a week. I'm in a cutting phase right now, trying to shed 20 lbs over the next 3 months. No cardio as of now. The workouts take long enough as it is.

I’m only 27 but my life is a mess. Finally getting back to uni and lifting after a 4yr abusive relationship.

I’m hoping next time I post here I’ll be allowed in here and surf my life in some semblance of okey

Weightlifting as in the very specific sport of snatch + cnj

Gym rat as in spending hours in the gym doing stupid split routines

>hollywood action star
>natty

I mean, Statham has always been in shape but let's not kid ourselves.

>having goals you can actually achieve
>not enjoying the ride
I mean, maybe it works for you, I dunno, senpai
what's your height/weight?
k

like what?

>no energy or libido

dude get your test checked for goodness sake. Those are classic symptoms of low T.

5'10". 194.4 lbs currently. From April to October last year I bulked up from 174 to 200 doing SS.

keep at it

skipping bro, jump rope that is

split routines?

5 day splits, like

>D1 back, bis
>D2 legs
>D3 chest, tris
>D4 shoulders
>D5 arms, abs

34 checking in.

6'0, 94kg.

Started lifting at 30. I'm proof that it's never too late to start tbhlads.

There is a 4 day nsuns. Been running that for 6 weeks and I like it.

Your chest needs a little work but other than that looking good famalam.

>31
>Always been chubby
>High-paying stressful job so little time for gym/fitness
>18 months ago, just turned 30
>Got physical, getting close to being obese, high blood pressure, triglycerides through the roof
>Fuck it, health > money
>Start going to the gym, doing cardio, lifting weights, ignoring work more
>Now, lost 20kg, blood results back to normal range, still high blood pressure though
>History of high blood pressure in my family, now on meds for it
>Never looked better in my entire life, finally no more beer gut, husband love it, get much hotter guys in Grindr, better life in general
>Job performance took a huge dive, promo rejected
How do you make it, guys? My best work weeks these days are when I skip the gym. I just can't find the time to do both.

Nice man.

Fuck knows how you keep your abs visible at mid thirties.

>husband
>grindr

Pretty degenerate, familia

>tfw 30 and already have back issues

It's gonna be a long and painful road to the grave

100% real

girls are easily impressed if you have a stable career, money and time to spent and if you are a chill and well dressed guy. but 18-22 girls are fucking brainlets, i prefer 26 to 28. i don't want to teach them from scratch

your life is shit, your age has nothing to do with it. start improving whatever lies in your power to improve.

Turning 31 in a couple weeks. Started lifting when I was 27, rode bikes for years before that.

I usually do LP every winter until I start to plateu and then try to maintain while I cut hard from biking. I usually kill my gains and start over again the next fall.

Slight increases each year, might try to maintain more than usual this year. Have mostly ran out my LP.

5 11, 180 lbs (heaviest I have been.)
Squat 245x5
Dl 300x6
Bench 165x5
Press 110x5
Chinup +30x6

Holy shit you are me

Turning 32 next month

I live in Michigan so every year when it gets warm enough I run every day and kill all my winter gains only to start again in October.

Our lifts about all the same too. Some days I want to just pick either running or lifting and stick to it year round but I get bored.

Ya I love both so I'm not dropping either. I always had way bigger legs from cycling so for last year I have spent more time on upper body. I'm not going to cut calories this spring and see what happens.

34, 178cm, around 80kg.
did calisthenics for years (you are your own gym, convict conditioning). i am still doing it for push and pull but also added a kettlebell now to spice things up.
i am doing fasts from time to time for around 48 to 96hrs but i cant control myself afterwards and start to binge, so that's off the menu... i mean sure, i lose five kilo over 4 days but they are coming back with a vengeance. pic is me on a good day...

33 here, started a PPL with couple second-hand modular DB's and bench and it's going well, arms getting big, chest getting big, shoulders taking shape, weights go up; problem is my knees are trash from past injury so I can't tax them, and shoulders are showing really concerning signs of impingement from years of having them rounded forward. Things like Arnold Press are great (I think) but tricep overhead extensions fuck me up and I don't know what to do.

There comes a time in life when you have to accept some limitations, like how easily my body develops tendonitis in certain areas (tennis elbow, trigger fingers), but on the other hand you have more financial resources to work around them.

Life is otherwise falling apart and I don't have long but that's fine, I suppose.

It's too late to start most things. Just don't bother. See what others have done and how they failed and avoid making the same mistakes, there's plenty of reasons not to try. Just do what your nature tells you is right and avoid obstacles.

I'm about to turn 34 and surprisingly in the best shape I've been in since I was in HS.

5'11" God-Emperor of manlets. 185 lbs

I do crossfit 5x a week (memes)

455 diddly
225x12 BP
215 OHP
325 squat

Not great but I do start feeling age set in. Longer recovery, etc.

advice to youngins - stay active, even if it's not lifting. run, bike, play bball at the gym or something regularly. If you wait until you're a fat as fatass 32 year old, it's going to be a lot harder to get back in to shape.

i'm 31

desu i'm doing a modified PPL variant (3 days a week) where I change up the exercises to fit my need/impulse. I don't track my workouts anymore and sometimes go real heavy or sometimes focus on hypertrophy.

i don't squat heavy anymore or bench with barbells because I don't want to fuck up my knees/shoulders respectively. injury prevention and not feeling like shit are my biggest priorities because I play basketball 2/3x a week.

I have made it a goal to workout/play basketball/cardio every single day of 2018. chaining works well for me.

i also walk my 1 year old doggo every day for >45 mins because he is an active little fuck and gets naughty if not exercised. its colder than shit out but when it gets nice I think i'm going to take him to the park and run hill sprints with him.

i need to find me a nice gf and stop fucking around with thots

Is it true you faggots are stronger than us mid 20's fags?

i also stretch for about 20 mins every morning as soon as i wake up and it is the best thing i've ever incorporated into my life. i focus a lot on the pelvic floor/hip/butt stretches and then get the rest of the body. it's done WONDERS for injury prevention and feeling good af.

also, for the youngsters, especially lifters, investigate pelvic floor dysfunction and stretching regimens. i thought i had fucked up my dick through deathgrip porn induced ed but it was really my pelvic floor being tight.

Great attitude. You must be very successful.

I want every man in this thread to post their current bodies right now

yes. old man strength is real.

:^)

I'm 32 and every girl that hits on me in public is 22-26... It actually kind of sucks because I want a woman with her shit together and not a drunk/gains goblin.

>research purposes

the women who "got their shit together" are now single moms

Take the Eastern-European pill and wife up a girl who has marriage and children on her mind in her early 20s. It's either that or an Asian chick if you're not interested in shackling yourself to traditional Western fare (i.e., roasties).

How are they hitting on you?

idk if i'm stronger at 33 than mid 20s (i've only been lifting 4.5 months) but i'm definitely tougher and more disciplined than the ones i know. i've also made better gains in my old age than when i dicked around in the gym at 16-20 but i was never an athlete with a structured program.

It's true that I'm way stronger and bigger than I was in my twenties.

Same here. 33 and doing nsuns. The first 4 weeks were great, but now I think I'll need more rest before I die necked in the press.

with a stick

30 year old here. Started a diet and moderate workout and want to slowly ramp up but I'm confused about all the different plans

>I'm confused about all the different plans

Just eat less, you will make progress regardless

eat less or workout more, what plans are you talking about?

all this 3x15 shit and with names of lifts I don't even know. I am eating less but I want to lose slowly rather than fast.

>I want to lose slowly rather than fast
Why? You have no muscle mass worth preserving.

The names of the exercises, muscle groups and terminology can be confusing. Remember that Veeky Forums, like all closed communities dedicated to a topic, use terminology as a tool to both unify and repel outsiders, so getting the hand of all of this shit (memes included) can be fucking frustrating and unnecessary. Best thing to do would be to pick a program, do your research about what the exercises included look like, what muscle groups they activate and how to perform them correctly, and just start - you will make mistakes, progress and your interest will hopefully grow enough to want to learn what you're doing wrong and how to adjust your program.

First start eating less. Counting calories and macros (protein, fat, carbs etc.) is a must at first, in my opinion, to track what you put in your body and how you should improve. There's plenty of apps for that.
As for lifting, just sign up to a gym and ask for a routine from an instructor, most gyms usually do this for free. That's a good place to start.

38 here. I focus on squat bench deadlift and pull ups. Cant lift anywhere near my 20's volume but I know im stronger then the average city life bum. I do low reps heavy weight.
