No ass to grass

Went to far down on squats.
Now I have sciatica and can barely walk.
Ive been heating it and doing some stretches but they haven’t been helping. Anyone have experience recovering from this?

sciatica is forever

weirdly developed it after climbing a mountain and clambering through a load of bush (day after heavy squat PR) then went away for the weekend where it got so much worse i couldnt sleep, turns out just squatting again fixed it right up

it's not just ass to grass, also shit like Pendlay Rows

to relieve it, do Mckenzie exercises
strengthen core with Mcgill big 3, 2-3x a week

chill out w/ squats for a while
if deadlifts don't hurt, switch to block pulls or rack pulls below knee

if any compound lift hurts stop it immediately

Has it been diagnosed or did you decide you have sciatica?

Time will probs make it better but u dun goofd

>falling for ass2grass meme

I’ve been avoiding squats because I feel like it will make it worse.
For me it was squats, I was, stupidly, going way to low and didn’t realize till I was finished.
Deads will definitely hurt but I’ll try the other ones out and see how they go
Haven’t seen a doctor in over 4 years but it’s back pain that’s causing pain down the back side of my leg so unless I’m having an upside down heart attack it’s this. & yea it’ll get better over time but I wanna speed it up, you feel?

It’ll go away just rest up. I had to stop squatting due to long leverages and bad hip sockets.

lie down on your stomach and see if that relieves the pain

Nope, just a stupid day

Makes it worse, I’m sleeping on my back with a pillow under my knees... uncomfortable but less pain in the mornings

Look up stretches on how to stretch your ass.
Lay on your back and bring your knee up to your other side of your chest. Left knee to right pec as high as you can and vice versa.
Left ankle on right knee and bring right knee up. Vice versa. This is more of a hip stretch, but do it anyway.
Try those two.

There's some advanced ass stretching too. Do every ass stretch you can do and make sure you feel it in your buttcheek.

when i came back after the weekend i widened my stance in the rack and did some louie simmons esc shit really pushed the blood around and the pain slowly faded over the next 2 days

disc herniations don't happen in one day, you must've been doing something wrong for some time already

Went too far down on the leg press, couldn't even deadlift 80kg after that. Took 3 weeks off training legs and stopped any lower back work.

I had sciatica, or a version of it. Really tight muscles also mimic the feel. Lacross balls, and foam rollers didn't help at all. Once I learned how to stretch my buttcheek, the pain that was there (sometimes I dropped from walking) for over a year went away over night.

I’ve been going for 6 years and this is the worst injury I’ve dealt with so I think I’m fine. I realized after what I did wrong and I probably should have cut my workout short but didn’t. I bottomed out on my squats and even felt a little bounce back up at the bottom because of the compression. Hindsight is always 20/20
THREE WEEK? Rip
Thanks for the suggestions, I did look up some stretches but I’ll do those as well.
Honestly I think if I try I’ll get to the bottom of the squat and have to drop the weights from the pain

Go see a doctor, if it's a herniated disc, ask for meloxicam 15mg (reduces inflammation) and Lyrica 75mg ( reduces nerve pain) these both really help, also for exercises YouTube foundation training by Dr Eric goodman

>Went to far down on squats.
>Now I have sciatica and can barely walk.

"I have shitty form, squat like a dumbass and hurt myself"

FTFY

Bruh. Chill out. It’s 1 bad exercise in 6 years, I’ll take that any day
If there’s no change by Monday I’ll give em a call

Unless you have excellent mobilitty your lower back will round at the bottom of an ATG squat hence why he said he went too deep.

I had sciatica.
Went to physio, musculoskeletal specialist and ended up consulting with a spinal surgeon, nearly had to go under the knife.
Ended up just taking a cocktail of Tramadol paracetamol and nortiptoline.
Took a month off work and just walked around as much as I could. Was in bed most of first week, semimobile the second and the last 2 I stripped the fairings off my bike and repainted the whole thing.
Swapped my Computer desk and made a standing desk.
Took around 4 months for the pain to go away. It came back earlier last year but I just did same as last time and got rid of it faster.
sciatica sucks a fucking lot, good luck OP

I've been getting similar symptoms lately as well. Which is weird because even though I had a long break from gym, I used to squat over 3pl8 compared to the ~2pl8 I do now. I've been hitting PRs consistently for about three months now so it's time to take a break from lifting and go light for a week or so.

I guess this is how it is when you start nearing 30, a few years ago hitting a plateau was the only worry - no injuries or fucked joints ever.

>it takes a while to straighten up after sitting
>can't do curls because shooting pain down my wrists and ulna
>mfw

the chance of executing every rep with flawless form over a 6 year training career is zero

powerlifters who live and breathe the squat and know damn well what good form is routinely get injured in training using submaximal loads

"perfect form" does not exist in the real world, when fatigue is a factor, and when you actually lift appreciable weight (probably never for you because you're a pussy with bottom of the barrel genetics) shit happens

stuart mcgill back mechanic etc

Yes got take these drugs you'll feel better

Thanks for the sanity there user. Of course good form is most important but people just parrot these memes they read. I would like to see a person who has never accidentally broken form while hitting PRs on higher weights

Have Sciatica atm just been doing reverse hypers and stretches everyday aswell as running feels fine most of the time

Don't go a2g when doing low bar in future

It'll go away just don't load your lower back for a while

you are not a doctor retard

go see a Physical therapist
