3 years state prison in Ohio (age 21 to 24).

Lots of time to exercise though.

6 years high security state prison made in 1920, all brick and steel and steam heat. 100* summers indoors, winters just as fucking hot cause the heaters had one setting: on. Losing weight and getting cut is easy, nothing but time and getting enough calories is hard. It's putting on muscle that's hard. You can get all the canteen you want, peanut butter and ramen and shit, it's all there. But it's 4 times the street price and you don't exactly make a lot of money if your lucky enough to work . I made 45 cents an hour working at a plant processing vegetables from prison farms. So I had that advantage. Ate on the job, enough cash flow to pay for hygiene, coffee, and some food (like ramen every day to supplement mess hall).

Cardio and body weight is your best bet as the free weights are dangerous as shit. It's the best time to bust someone's brains open with a plate.

Was working in a prison here in Sweden a while ago. It was cool. We had a gym.

Been to the manlet pit before.

Prison is a lot like the military. Long stretches of boredom with bits of high excitement. We had a guy try to escape the fence one, got stuck in the concertina wire. Sgt. Liliforan yanked him off the wire, which led to his bleeding to death. Said Sgt also locked himself in a cell with a tiny man named Bones who went to his ass like a tiny Tyson. He lost but we went to the Sgts ass like a champ. Prison culture is about heart and such. Even the smallest man with the will to fight and defend himself was more respected than the biggest muscly bitch. That and retards always scheming in the fishbowl environments.

Arab gangs ruled the inmates and took taxes for all hustles people would do. Pushing drugs food etc. was all common because everybody knew they would stab you if you snitched and destroyed their passive income, so it was kind of like a little mini economy where everything was a currency, from the amount of time you are allowed to use the weights to how much food they'd give you in the canteen, and the arabs took their share from every transaction and made sure disputes would be handled behind closed doors.

They liked me because i had a martial arts records outside and they recognized me so they always asked mebfor training tips and i would make workout plans for them and train them.

We all ended up stronger and fitter and nobody fucked with me because i was their buddy.

Well yeah. I'm an intelligent but terribly rough around the edges man. I've been free nearly a decade now. Prison saved my bacon, I grew up in the ghetto the one white kid and with a terrible drug addicted family I haven't talked to since I got locked up in the first place.

The prison still had these pits in front of the dorms where they would lock men in for punishment similar to the old hot boxes. They hadn't been used in like 40 years when I was there but they never bothered to fill them in either, just rusty padlocked the closure.

Had a buddy in there, pissed him off good. We had these permanent colonies of seagulls and I threw a handful of bread crumbs on him outside the chow hall, they mobbed his ass like something out of the birds.

we had a good crew that would rob banks, jewelry stores and casino.

Worked fine for 5 years until one of my partners lost his cool and beat a man to death during a robbery so now we had te equivalent of the german fbi on our ass and soon enough they caught him and he snitched on us and tried to blame one of us for the murder, we could prove in court it was him butby doing so they realized we weren't a bunch of stick up kids and that we must have done this a lot so the judge went all out well the sentence for all of us.

For the most part there's no need to join a prison gang or anyting but you should never be overly friendly and involved with people.

melvin ass answer but I took a class on jails and toured a local and county jail for it, it's basically super boring and shitty and you're getting the legally required bare minimum of humane treatment unless the guards are feeling nice which they probably aren't.
