How expensive is your Gym?

I've started going to a Gym on a three week trial that is literally across the road from my new place. But the Gym is $15 a week (Aussie dollars) and another $160 in various Joining Fees and a 12 month lock in contract. I'm a noob so how does that compare?

Scam, if you're going to go to a chain gym, go to one they doesn't have joining fees or a lock in contact i.e zap, snap etc

I'm an AusBrah too. My uni one is subsidised for students so I only need to pay $8/week. My other gym that I go to is $17/week.

For Australia, anywhere between $15 - $25 a week is normal, depending on what gym it is. Fitness First Platinum's can get quite expensive. Don't bother asking Amerifats since they pay $5 a week for their Planet Fitness.

160 in joining fees what the actual fuck.

I go to a chain gym (well there are three of them, everything seems to be brand new, cardio has screens for netflix and youtube), 24 hours and huge parking lot, 15 euros a month, 30 euro sign up fee which includes a messanger bag, water bottle and towel, 12 year contract. Includes a drink "bar"/fountain which is water, flavored sports drinks and carbonated water.
It was Crowded for NYR but now its declining quickly.

I pay 25, and i can to any gym they have.

i just use stones and put them in a backpack and train with that

works surprisingly well

Yeah you might have been ripped off. Does it include any classes/personal training sessions? Do the showers pour Gatorade? I'm failing to see how you get $160 of value.

Zap was $50 for the key fob thing, and no commitment (though I had to pay the last four weeks upfront)

YMCA by my house is $27/month with a $25 joining fee for adults, it's not the biggest/best gym but it's decent + a pool and basketball court

you're getting gypped bro

12 month*

350000 bolivars or about 1.4 dollars per month.

> living in Riga, Latvia
Old gym in a smaller city - 29€ / month, had great equipment and atmosphere, the PTs were serious lifters ( one was a huge powerlifter/strongman, the other does not compete anymore afaik, but is the father of a world class oly lifter)

New gym since last november - 30€. Also great equipment, more area, has a spa zone included in the price, but more commercial overall, does not have the same feel to it

Also my work provides health insurance that covers 28€/month for gym memberships so I barely pay anything anyway

>trying to insult other countries for yours being too expensive
The bodybuilding gym near me costs $35/month.

Living in Australia is a scam.

- stolen backpack 0 USD
- stones 0 USD
- cheap stolen weight scale 0 USD

only dumb little slavs and subhumans require chinese weights to train , real men train by lifting parts of their environment

>steals
>calls others subhumans

I go to jetts for 12 bucks a week.

Then move. No one is forcing you to stay here.
Oh wait, you love the high wages and high standard of living? Oh okay, then stfu.

It's free for all corporate full time employees. The only problem is so are the trainers and we only got 5 so you gotta book days in advance. It's from 0600 to 2000 with 200ish machines, a yoga room, two 5 person same sex saunas , 20 showers, and chiropractor you gotta schedule a week in advance too but he works off tips.

I go to a local place that has 4 locations.
$15 a month, guest pass, sauna, tanning booths, daycare, towel service, good equipment. Only downside is there is only two power racks and a single deadlift platform at the location I use. Paid $70 up front, no contract.

Just north of Syracuse, NY.

Some of that is actual joining fee and some of it is the security pass that they make everybody use to get in the gym.

My uni gym for me is a train ride to my normal Uni location and then a shuttle bus ride, for 10 bucks a week and fairly tight open hours for me. Plus it isn't as modern or big as the Anytime which just reopened and is full of new machines, weights and fancy screens.

it's only jewish if you use deception breh

I go to an Anytime and it's good.

>lots of free weights
>shit's always clean
>mix of plebs and patricians
>private change rooms

Oh, also you get access to every other Anytime, which is neat.

I've only been in staffed hours when it is fairly busy, but there are always a ton of people camped in the free weights. So far I've only been able to use the cardio and weight machines.

just use water buckets and stones

That'll be the case at almost any gym, unfortunately.

I live in Puerto Rico and the closest gym charges 35 dollars a month with a 28 dollar joining fee. It has air conditioner and looks clean. All the members look white.

There is also a ghetto gym 9 miles further that charges 30 a month with no BS joining fees but it is full of spic cholos and niggers.

Bullshit. In Texas I have lower taxes, cheaper electronics and other goods, cheaper housing, guns, etc compared to Australia and I pay $25 a month 0 down for LA Fitness (multi club access so I can go to any la fitness in America)

Aussies are socialist and thus they pay up their buttholes for everything.

37€/mo here in Croatia. No joining fee, no contract.

implying croatians or slavs would honor any kind of contract lmfao

>t. kebab

I have worked for jetts, snap ajd anytime dude. There are ways around those start up fees. They are all flexible and every second month the gyms rotate in half or free joining fee. For example when i worked for Jetts if somone saw anytime had $0 joining fee then we would just match that so find a gym with a promo on atm and say fine ill join there in a nice way (nice being key) but as for most gyms if theu have a 24 hour access card it is hard to get around paying that unless you will only be there for staffed hours but jetts i think are the only ones who offer it optional (even if they say it's not, it is) or find one on scumtree. People sometimes sell them on there for free and theyre easily changable. Just when you sign up say its your sisters or some shit.

TL:DR there are ways around most up front costs.

>Aussies are socialist
How fucking retarded are you

What chain gym? Im in euro now and im stuck with some nasty ass non managed money laundering shit hole and need out. Dumbells only go to 40kg and only have 8 20kg plates...

Can't they just scan it and see who it actually belongs to?

They dont do that price anymore unless you join 12.95pw on mates rates

Explain this tax rate you faggot

$180,001 and over pays $54,232 plus 45c for every $1 over $180,000

How could anyone succeed with that kind of tax rate? 180k is a typical doctor in America and they get taxed at the highest bracket? Retarded. Add in a 50% capital gains tax and you can see why I said what I said.

I fucking love my gym. I havent been able to go for a while, about 3 months recently, and it's upsetting me so much.
>18 dollars a month
>5 minutes walk from my house
>great equipment
>never full, never have to wait for equipment
>members are all nice people
>staff let's me put on own my music if I aak

snap city?

Yes, however say i sold you my card off gumtree (which i have fobs of most gyms but am now in europe starting my own gym) it will come up with a name aka me. Then will deny it to be added to your account. All you need is to say yeah it is my friends key who no longer works out or moved country or whatever. Some assholes will ask for a written letter from the person but its not hard to get a friend to fake it. Some slimey cunts will try anything to make you pay cause upfront fees are all immediate profit. So worse case if they are still money hungry find the same gym and sign up at another branch. Some even have full online sign up where you can enter an old card to be used and when it is denied you send an email to the club and most will remotely sort it. Then its as simple as calling this persons gym or emailing if over state and then within a day or so its off their account and onto yours. Fuck, depending what gym it is i could possibly help from here from old ties

Brisfag here, I pay $12/week for 24/7 with a $40 signup for the keyfob. No contract. It's called ifeelgood247. Contract is cheaper iirc. Fairly busy from 4-7 but is literally a 2 min walk away. Haven't checked out Jetts but heard good things, lifestyle is pretty great and if I was a tad closer, I'd be going to world gym.

I miss my aus gym. 9.95 pw and it was fucking massive (for my area) got it on start up and now its like 25pw. No wonder they are getting fucked finantially, if you start so low its hard to justify such price hikes.

>world gym malaga

Jetts is the planet fitness of aus. When working there i was told to confront members making noise and dropping weights (not loudly from top rep more like hanging arm to floor) and the elderly as nice as they were just made the place so repusive to train at. However they paid me 80p/h to tell them basic shit and they loved me so eh. If inwere to go back i would sign to my old gym or anytime if it were a chain

>I'm not rich now but one day I might be, so don't tax the rich!

We're all in this together cunt, might as well help this amazing country out when you're earning that much.

i looked it up, its actually only in my country and half of the locations are in my city. It looks like planet fitness/ or an upgraded 24 hour fitness or some shit so i figured it was euro wide.
Its mostly machines but theres 3-4 smith machines, at least 4 benches, incline benches, a few power racks and basically a jungle gym to rock climb, money bars, pull ups and etc.

Ah well fuck. I cant even find a boxing gym to where ive moved, nor a good gym. Fucking germany..

Hmm I guess disregard my support for Jetts aha.

I wish my gym had a suggestion box :/ for some reason it only has one set of 15kg bumper plates so I gotta add a dinky lil 5kg to my deads after the 20kg plates ahah. Minor annoyance but feels dumb

Paid around ~900 USD for mine

>home gym master race

im in germany (NRW). Before i found this i was basically visiting tiny overpriced overpacked home gyms overrun by foreigners who piss on the toilet seats and make eye contact with you as you enter their stall.

I was in Germany for a couple years and what the fuck is up with McFit? It's like you're lifting in a sterile office environment? The protein in the vending machine was dope tho

If you think taxing lawyers, doctors, and small businesses at over 50% is good policy and good for the country then guess what? You're a socialist.

You can help your country by investing money to creating jobs and competition thus lowering prices... Something that Texas has and wow holy shit all our goods are cheaper, better, and more accessible!

All dem programs you guys think you need from the government can be created better and cheaper using the free market.

I am in NRW also and fucking this. Everyone says hello and stares at you when you walk in and i just wanna work out. Ive learnt to put on a fuck off face so i stopped being approached but is annoying. And yes about the home gym thats exactly this gym. I do not think over 10 grand got spent on all this equiptment. Most seems like hand me downs.

Most gyms will be like that, i was asked the same so many times but the cost just cant be justified if they have 5kg already there and would be spending them on proper high quality bumpers

McFit? Never been, but most gyms have that over clean feel thats ive seen. I even went to one with trees indoors and full wood flooring just made me feel akward and that my estrogen levels were rising.

BRB going to my free doctor visit to get a referral to a free specialist who books my free surgery which further free treatments.

Also, what's so bad about working together? Your capitalist American system seems to be created to keep the poor people hating other poor people to distract them from the real problems.

Poland
100 zł (~$25) a month
for that I get unlimited access to a network of like a dozen gyms in my city, some open 24h, the one I go to me also has a pool and sauna, the price also includes free martial arts classes but I never tried it. bretty ok overall.

>goods are cheaper, better and more accessible
haha faggot try going to a doctor in the states and then compare systems you fucking troglodyte

I just looked up how much bumper plates cost and fuck me! Guess I was spoiled at my last gym with the huge selection of bumper plates alongside the regular kind.

Seems like my dream of a colourful home gym is now reverted back to hunks of chopped off railway tracks hahah

"Working together" just means socialist collectivization which does not work or is less efficient compared to free market.

Remove regulations for healthcare and prices will drop making it more accessible.

The "poor" in America all have TVs, cable, Internet, insane amounts of food (are fatter than the rich), smartphones, and many have their own cars. That's possible because of the free market and it's sad our healthcare isn't the same.

Actually a few industries within healthcare are deregulated like lasic eye surgery and they've seen a ridiculous drop in price while the technology has advanced like crazy.

Free market > Government control. It's not about working together or hating poor people

Yeah dude especially calibrated ones, you'll only find those in crossfit boxes with too much money or power gyms

I am given healthcare through my employer and guess what?

Healthcare in Texas is better, more advanced, less waiting, faster ambulance services, more doctors, better doctors, etc so suck my healthy ballsack

>goes to one econ lecture

half rack
bench
barbell
80Kg weights 28mm
~180 Ruros

80Kg 28mm weights
~80 Euros

2 decent pieces of plywood 1220x2440mm
~90 Euros

Tot: 250 Euros

I'm a noob. But i have planned already i will sell the half rack and the bench when i will be squatting around 130 Kg. At that point i will get myself a decent rack for no more than 400 euros. The problem is the barbell, i will NEVER go for a thing which will require plates with a 50mm hole.

Uh.... i agree..?

14euros/month - Netherlands - everything you need is there and weights never crowded coz casuals gym

My college's gym is free for life to students and alumni

About $30/month

>Australia isn't socialist
>Here in Australia we love to pay our fair share! The rich should provide for the poor

$0 fees, $0 per month

But my gym is essentially a co-op. We all share the price of maintenance of equipment and vote on buying new pieces together.

#homegymmasterrace.

Yup, my YMCA is 25/month for students. Every uni student avoids it like the plunge because the lack of machines, despite the fact it has three squat racks.

La fitness across the street charges 100$ signup and 25$ a months
It has a pool hot tub and sauna

100$ a year but there are some 80$/year but its too far for my liking

What YMCA has 3 squat racks?

This posts sounds like a butthurt poorfag

>free
>free
>fee
>feefee
I wish my parents were paying for my everything again

My gym is £9.99 a month and it's massive

My gym costs 10 dollars per month, unlimited access, access to sauna, jacuzzi etc.

HCOA Fitness by any chance? I actually like going to Planet Fitness and CicloFitness desu.

19 euros per month with 1 year contract.
30 euros per month if no contract.

Same here. I live in a rural area, and Anytime is the closest gym to me. Its nice and comfy, not huge, but has everything you'd need, and 24 hours is essential since I work second shift and go to the gym after work. Its nice, the owner's a cool dude who also teaches Karate classes in the gym that you get a discount on if you're a member, too. People that go there are, like another member said of his gym, a mix of casuals and hardcore gym goers, and its a good crowd. In my 4 years there, nobody has ever bothered me, and the place just feels very relaxed and low-stress, with everybody just there to do their thing. I love working out late after work, too, its prime time for me, and its just super comfy at my gym late night, with just a few people there doing their thing, nice and quiet and easy to focus. $40 a month, which is fine by me considering I live in the sticks so there's not many other places close by so they don't have to compete with much. I like Anytime, would recommend.

well income tax isnt over 50%. And CGT is not 50%. So...

i bought a treadmill for $150 and my weight bench was handed down to me from my dad, who received the weight bench from his uncle.

So, $150.

Been going to anytime for 3 years now, no intention to switch for a while

45 a month

>health insurance that covers 28€/month for gym memberships
That makes a lot of sense desu.

t. American

Body weight master race reporting in

Germany: 20€ signup fee including an introduction and basic plan, 18€/mo from then on, gym+access to a climbing tower

free? no sir, that's what tuition is for. Whether you pay that or not, someone is paying for it. No free lunch homie.

But, use the hell out of that gym. Bitches are all up in there too. If you have a pool, use that too.

So do you guys make big ausd to compensate for prices down there? Or are gyms just ridiculously expensive there for some reason.
By comparison, what does the cheapest new car cost there?

€30 seems very expensive for Latvia relative to the cost of other things.

my gym is 45USD/mo, but that's a lower rate because i knew the guy before the gym opened up proper. it's pretty good for what it is. lots of cages, racks, platforms. there's like an $80 membership that comes with a personal locker and complimentary post workout beer. lmfao

$25/month for LA fitness, did split a family plan 2 ways with another friend so we each paid $200. Totally worth it because I can go anywhere in the country and I have

I go to Jetts, and it's about $15 a week. They also have joining fees, but they'll do $0 joining fees specials so often, just negotiate with the gym for 0 joining fees

$25/month

Low attendance, have not waited for equipment once. Also lots of free weights. No multi month contract. No joining fees.

Shit is only 25 a month and it's attached to a grocery store and it gives you 15 a month in credit if you go there at least 12 times. No fees, no contract. They upped the cost, but since I joined when it opened it says with me.

This isn't actually true for gold's gym. I moved across the country and was refused access after my third use. When I brought this up to them, they said that's only true for franchises owned by the same owner. Even if it's the same company, it only qualifies if the franchise is owned by the same person. This also didn't qualify for termination of my former contract and they insisted I sign up for a new contract there.
Ended up getting all my money back through my bank, but holy shit, I hate gold's gym.

Free because I'm in the military.
I'm a fucking cuck for not starting working out until November.

They keep saying all the weights at my gym are free, so I say to the receptionist:

>if the weights are free, what am I paying for?!

Amiright fellas!?

Pay $65 for a place in Charleston which is pretty fucking expensive but it's literally a block away and every body in there is on gear so it motivates the fuck out of me. Plus there were no membership fees.

Kek
