don't brace against the weight with your arms, keep them loose. use your back/torso to hold the bar
finish your extension, feel your quads squeezing. really, really don't rush this bit. you'll put yourself under the bar automatically, or you'll miss. if you don't finish you're extension, you'll definitely miss at higher weights

It’s honestly not that difficult. You’re not going to the olympics. Yes, coaching helps a lot. It’s not impossible to pick up a bar and start.

Watch some videos and start practicing. Review your form and make changes as needed.

I'm teaching myself the clean and jerk without bumper plates right now. My advice is to:

1. Take it slow, starting from the rack position and adding more steps until you're at the full clean from the floor. Don't add a step until you're sure you can execute the previous step consistently.

2. Go light. I'm literally using 65 pounds right now, just enough to feel comfortable in the rack position.

3. Be patient. Don't tire yourself out trying over and over again, it's a new movement with a speed component. You need to rest a couple minutes if you want to focus on your form without being distracted by fatigue. I'm doing triples right now.

4. Watch a TON of footage of competent people performing/teaching the clean. Also try to record yourself.
