I know what a cable lateral raise is brother, but I think this hanging position would be superior to the standing one because having your legs wrapped around the bar gives you more stability, and will probably help maintain shoulder form when using higher weight, form always breaks down on heavy cable laterals..
I'll try it next shoulder day and report back.

If you go too heavy with your legs wrapped around a bar you'll just slide down the bar when you try to lift your arm up. If it's too heavy to handle with your feet planted on the ground it'll be too heavy to handle when you've got nothing underneath you.

Good point, however I'm gonna try a set or two next shoulder workout anyways. I tried a million different variations of rear delt flys/raises till I found the one I felt the most activation doing. So I won't knock this till I try it.

friendly reminder that a spotter (when he's not in charge of grabbing the barbell in case of failure) either supports the chest or the wrists, never the elbows. I see too many retards "spotting the elbows", especially in dumbbells exercises. Don't do that. It's a complete mistake.

because if the spotter pushes up on the elbow he can't control where exactly he is pushing it, which means it could put your shoulder/wrists at risk. pulling from the wrists makes sure the arms go up following the proper lift line. I don't know if I managed to explain. But if you push up at the elbow it will go up sure, but most likely at an angle meaning the DB is off the proper pathway, which can be problematic for the shoulders.
