Police have physical standards, they're just retardedly low. One of my buddys is going to the academy soon, and he said their physical fitness test was like 25 pushups, a mile run, and situps.

I'm a UK cop and the standard is a joke. At the moment it's a yearly 'Chester step test" which you are meant to do before physical training refresher. Absolute waste of my time which is why I have never done it and nobody has ever said shit to me either.

Administration would love to higher the physical standards but they're already shorthanded because all the young people nowadays abuse prescription drugs, take ecstasy etc then lie about it and get DQed for 10 years. That plus the influx of Mexicans pouring over the border, it's no longer "cool" to be a cop unless you live in a deep red state. Here in SoCal everyone hates you and thinks you're a fascist.

here in germany you need to get a fitness check before you can join the police. there is a minimum height too, if you're 5'5" or smaller you can't become a police officer.

There are standards to get in, but once you become unionized you unironically need to (basically) commit a serious crime to get shit canned, and even then you get paid off half the time.

This. My brother is a fireman/paramedic and 80%+ of his colleagues are obese. They all passed the test to get in when they were in their early 20s and never get tested again for the rest of their lives. I'd probably escape a fire better without those fat pieces of shit waddling into my house.

Except that here it's much harder. I just spent 1k on health exams/tests after qualifying. Next phase is fit exam: 3 pullups, 2,4kms in 12mins and 35 abdominals(if thats what you call them lul) in 1 min.

There is though, problem is most departments don't follow up with physical standards after the candidates pass the initial physical requirements. Meaning an aspiring officer needs to get fit to be get hired for the position, but them let themselves go and turn into a shitbird after they are in. Its pathetic.

I just applied as a seasonal for a local PD and the test was a joke. 33 situps a min, 22 pushups a min then 1.5 mile run under 14 min. One of the people applying said that this departments test for seasonals is more difficult than the state pd's physical test. In my opinion they should retrain their existing officers every two years so the cops stay fit because so many are fat af and they're supposed to protect people.
