Anyone else give up caffeine? how did it go? did you notice any changes?

anyone else give up caffeine? how did it go? did you notice any changes?

I felt happier

What's the benefit of giving it up completely? I can understand reducing if it's giving you anxiety etc. But cut it out completely? What fer?

tfw work 12 hour rotating shifts (7am-7pm days and 7pm-7am nights) and have to rely heavily on coffee to function

>gave it up for a month, didn't feel any different after a few days, missed the taste, went back to it

nothing wrong with a nice coffee in the morning - in fact, everything I've read indicates it's actually healthier for you than not drinking at all

>tfw 26 and have never drank caffeine in my life
>no coffee, no energy drinks, no sodas, nothing
>only things i drink are water and milk
>still able to be awake daily from 6:30 AM to 11 PM with no issues of tiredness
>never take naps
>times in college i could be awake for 20 hours consecutively with no caffeine and be fine

whats wrong ith me fuck

It fuckers around with your sleep quality, digestion and metabolism. Also raises your cortisol levels (adrenal fatigue) which gives you weight gain, depression/anxiety, lowers immunity and lower nutrient absorption.

If you are a habitual caffeine user you pretty much drink it to get back to baseline. It obviously helps with blood flow but the mental effects are way less pronounced if you use habitually (much like every drug if taken daily).

life is too short for me to give up something relatively harmless that I love

If I could start my life over, I would never take a sip of alcohol or caffeine

>tfw the only reason you got into drinking coffee in the first place was job has long hours and everyone else bitched and drank coffee so you did it too because obviously not drinking it would make me even more sleepy than these clowns who fell asleep all the time
>tfw stuck with one of the hardest addictions to break just because of following the herd and drinking coffee instead of going without (which really wouldn't have been that bad)

>used to be super addicted to caffine, needed it daily to function
>had flu-like symptoms if I didn't have the sips
>decided to quit after one scary terrible day where I couldn't have one
>quit during vacation time when I didn't have to do anything
>felt like absolute ass and did nothing but lay in bed for the first 3-4 days, could function normally after a week
>dreaded first day back to work rolled around (have to get up at 5am) and actually felt good
>haven't had caffeine in about 4 months now

some nice perks are that I feel good all day instead of drinking coffee and feeling great then crashing and needing another, also don't have to piss all the time, feel great in the mornings now too instead of feeling like groggy smashed asshole and needing that coffee to pick me up

Shit I used to be like you and also quit about a month ago, still crave it like crazy but feeling better. Had a very strong coffee every morning since I was 14. Would use one of those italian espresso makers which makes espresso meant for 3 or 4 people and add some milk/sugar and drink it in a coffee cup. Wonder if it fucked me up in the longrun in some way.

Yes you feel normal, like going back to childhood. The mind is more open, instead of being basically on a pseudo-ADHD that makes you the perfect wageslave.

gave it up 2 weeks ago, so far my head is clear.
Thoughts are clear asf, not cloudy or drowsy like before...
hmmm.

I gave it up for a month once.
With caffeine you go through your typical high's and lows but without it my days were just kind of constant. Felt odd, I would describe it as calm almost dream like. Not sure if I preferred it or not, I definitely miss the buzz and happiness that caffeine brought with it but kicking it really helped me normalize my schedule (and I never take caffeine after 4pm so even morning coffee affected sleep for me (that or I was just being more attentive to sleep during the period))

>t. poor

thanks for reminding me to filter wageslave

I dropped it two weeks ago after reading a thread here. Nothing mind-blowing, I was just oblivious to how much coffee I was drinking. Went cold turkey, I think I felt really tired for a while but I'm fine now.

>being such a cuck over some fucking coffee

I drink a cup a day on average. Some days I can't be bothered to hand grind some beans so I go without. All this bellyaching over hot bean water. Your grandpas called you pussies for a reason.

I used to have 2 a day after breaking a soda addiction, only got a headache for the next 2-3 days, which I guess isn't too bad but 2 cups is probably nothing.
Biggest difference for me was much less anxiety, used to get an uneasy sensation worrying about the most mundane things. I was surprised how easy it was to get off, since I was addicted to diet soda since I was a kid, and drunk so much caffeine that I didn't even feel it.

Also its crazy how potent caffeine is once you've been off it; I'll on occasion have a coffee before going to the gym and easily made a new PR, but one cup alone makes me jittery, and nauseous

Caffeine is great for you if it is a tool to enhance your performance. If you feel like you need to drink coffee/preworkout before the gym, stop using it immediately. Otherwise I don't see the reason for cutting it completely. Reducing it? Eh, maybe. But a couple cups of joe is actually good for you, as long as it isn't sugary diarrhea from Starbucks or something.

these sound like completely normal things anybody can do without supplementation and not even realize they did something that you think is impressive

but go you I guess

I have to go to the bathroom less and have a harder time getting up in the morning.

I really don't notice much of a difference otherwise. I feel like I slept better when drinking 2+ cups a day.

Your cortisol must be so high, is there any way you can just get day shifts? You're on your way to an early heart attack or stroke with a life like that

Why would i ever give up something as delicious as coffee...
I don't fucking drink it to be awake or have more power or whatever caffeine is supposed to do. (i have never felt those supposed effects, I often drink an espresso before going to sleep)
I just love the taste and probably would have no problem drinking decaff if it were just as common as the standard products..

I can't drink caffeine. It gives me a high but the low afterwards is devistating for me. Last time, I felt shit for almost a whole day. Shaking and feeling tired, dizzy. Never again.

> coffee without sugar master race reporting in

I stopped for 2 weeks more energy but couldnt shit normally so now I drink one cup a day to poop

Quit out of curiosity for a couple weeks but didn't feel a huge difference so I started drinking it again. As long as you don't go for 3 cups every single morning it's not too bad, when I get enough sleep I'm fine getting up at 6 without any.

I drank a 6 cup and a 2 cup in one day

Been having 6 coffees per day for years now. I had three coffees almost in one sitting this morning because I was so tired and got the shakes for half the day. I felt like I had shell shock. I felt super anxious, fidgety and my hands were shaking when trying to write my lecture notes in class. Kinda like Tweek from South Park.

I think I need to give up.

Coffee does fuck all to improve your focus. If you never drink it you might get a slight edge, but its not significant.

Now for the more interesting question, how do ritalin/adderall compare to caffeine? How different are they?

>Bradley Cooper in Limitless vs slightly higher focus for a short period of time.

Well if you dont drink at all you will dehydrate, so ya coffee is better than nothing.

It doesn't increase your focus, it makes you ADHD, learn to read caffeinated brainlet. It makes you just ADHD enough to not question why you're wasting your life away doing mundane jobs.

t. jewservant

>crams as many hours into work as legally possible per day
>is then off work for 2/3rds of the year

R-right user, less stressful working 9-5 everyday, spending your precious time off work during the busiest hours of the day, the busiest holiday periods.

Nothing worse than going to the gym at normie hours after 4pm.

Caffeine allows me to constantly be in a high-energy state of mind but even low doses give me anxiety attacks. It's a trade-off. I need to fix my sleeping.

Do you work out on days that you work?

My shits got better but now im on caffeine again but eating less meat and more relaxed and my shits are even better than they were off caffeine

Unusually just after work, then whey, then sleep. Obviously not the most strenuous workouts but i've plenty of off days.

better shits (probably better nutrient absorption)
feel less tired
get better sleep and getting to sleep is easier
more awake in the morning
less anxious
it works better when I do need it like before lifting

I have a theory that it's like melatonin if you take more of it or take it frequently enough resistance and then dependency develops and it's only really useful regularly if taken in micro doses. Low doses or infrequent use retains it's effectiveness.

I switched to decaf ~3 weeks ago. (After chugging 30-90 oz of coffee/day.) I didn't experience any withdrawal, and haven't noticed much difference desu.

I think I'm having more dreams at night, though.
