Yep, they normally make up 30-50% of my daily intake. I'm on OMAD, so I normally have rice plus other stuff, or meat, potato and veges. Have dropped pasta mostly, because I'm not fond of whole wheat varieties, and the cheap stuff is terrible macros for how filling it is.

Today I found out I'll go 100-200kcal over my goal no matter what. Now hours later instead I'm 2000kcal over it.

yes, i generally try to avoid pasta and rice but i normally have a slice of "Soft brod" or flat bred toast with breakfast and generally end up getting carbs from things with sugar in them or from fruits and vegetables.

For people who count calories, what do you do in a situation where it will be difficult to figure out exactly what and how much you ate? For example, I'm visiting my parents for dinner and it's hard for me to guess to see how many calories I'm eating.

Do some research online and take your best guess. Always over estimate.

Get better at eyeballing and always guess over rather than under.

For example, if I have cereal, I assume it's either 500 or 600 cals because I'm not going to measure it.

You add it in but always, always, always overestimate about 25% because it's probably not an overestimation

I use mfp, and go with whatever the higher count is. If it's something I can't measure I use common sense, stay away from processed stuff, stick to vegetables, meats.

I've found that a normal sized male fist of most things about 100 grams. It's been the case with meat, rice and potatoes. Vegetables are different unless cooked. I think its a pretty ok metric. Shit like pizza though is a bit difficult just assume the worse and make it up the next day.

How did you regain the weight? I take it the weight isn't muscle, but you should double check, it would be sad if it was all fat. I've genuinly learned to eat clean and healthy after dropping weight, and i haven't touched soda or candy or anything like that scince i started in like august or something.

I just don't eat things that don't have a serving size and calorie count right on the package, since I don't trust MFP and other anybody-can-edit bullshit.

There is a small list of exceptions where I personally cross referenced the calories per unit of stuff. Eggs, ground beef, etc.
