/impulse control/

Next week, starting on Sunday, I'm going to do pic related for 7 days.

Biggest challenges for me will be:
>no messageboards
>no tv/youtube
>no binging on news
>no music
>no idleness/daydreaming

I'm also going to cut back on caffiene.

The rest I think I can do without much trouble:
>nofap
>no vidya
>meal prep / proper diet

I'll do as much as I want of:
>work
>exercise
>meditate
>read

I figure, it's only 7 days. How hard could it be?

This seems excessive, but good luck. Report in with results when you're done, I'd like to know how it goes.

will do
I expect it to be a pain in the ass, but I need to seriously reboot my stimulus-to-reward systems
I'd really like to get a better euphoria after doing useful work and hitting the gym.

idk if this will fix that for me, but it's only a week of my life and seems like an interesting experiment at the very least

Pretty hard, i stoped at day 3 via giving myself some bullshit excuse to watch some "educational" video i just had to see lul. Ill try again next week. And i actually beat faping, almost 10 months without it and 2 years without porn so im no stranger to challenging your weaknesses. I guess its cause i dont really have much social contact in my life, yt, chan and anime substitutes human interaction for me. I just despise normalfags, only online i can read ppl i like.

Why is reading books allowed, is it somehow different from other media? At least i feel like i get even stronger highs from reading great books than other media. Or is only non-fiction allowed?

You better give yourself more to do then those 4 activities or you will end up just staring at the wall.

Want to do the same thing.
Will wake up early,
Exercise
Do what needs to be done,
Will eat a simple nutritious meal once a day
Will meditate
Will work
Will ignore all social media the net outside of the things I simply have to do.
Will train boxing and jogging and lifting
Write and draw
Shower
Sleep.

I might allow myself 30 minutes to watch youtube so that I can find boxing stuff. But that's about it.

Want to make a personal hell week with two adays.

>Want to make a personal hell week with two adays.
what if it turns into personal heaven week? :^)

seriously though, I'm really looking forward to it.
you doing this next week as well?

>Why is reading books allowed
the OP that created that guide in the pic had some research backing up why reading is ok, but I don't have the links.
something about fiction reading leading you through the experience of characters, developing empathy, and letting you experience--to a degree--a reward tied to "work" of going through the character's hardships with them.
it made a lot of sense at the time, but personally I'm just glad that I still get ONE thing that I can enjoy for "fun" on this monk-mode

>Or is only non-fiction allowed?
nonfiction and fiction both ok

i get the rest, but why no music?

music isn't really the same as tv, is it?

You can only get to heaven by going through hell user.
And yeah, but I'm the kind of man who needs to plan things out and have plans on plans...which oft times leads to not getting anything done...
I have to have a barebones plan laid down before I can do anything.

This is fucking stupid, OP himself admits he is a fucking ignorant person, why would you listen to the bullshit he says?

Shit, ,this looks really interesting. I may try that this up coming spring break since I won't have to deal with school.

That's fucking retarded. Mental fatigue is a very real thing, and jumping head first into a complete lifestyle change is how you get burnt out and give up. You need to apply changes gradually over time.

You're gonna finish your workout and chores, realize that the rest of the day is going to be spent either reading books (which have been arbitrarily deemed more valid than other activities for some reason) or staring at the fucking ceiling.

because it's only 7 days. why not try it out?

because some people respond much better to making multiple changes at once

Op you know this guys a fucking moron right? He read a bunch of study's on human behaviour and made his own cooky experiment and extrapolated false results.

You can not rewire evolutionary responses by sitting in ur room with a book for 7 days.

All his results are attributed to his increased will power. Which are a result of isolation and self reflection.
You don't need to go full fucking batman in your room for a week to get the same results as a long fucking walk.

Hey bro. I will do this with you.

If you retards can't resist the chocolate in ur fridge what in gods name makes you think you can resist everything positive in ur life for a entire week? Are you so deluded that you think under the super extreme/ prolonged conditions you will some how magically gain more will power?

Even if that is the case, it's not the multiple changes that are difficult to handle, rather the difficulty lies in integrating them with aspects of your lifestyle that remain the same. Getting into the habit of reading in your free time is made much more difficult when you don't have a large or varied enough library to keep you stimulated for extended periods. This would be much easier if you gradually eased your way into reading, learning what you liked and disliked and amassing a readily available backlog. Jumping right into it with no reservations and finding out you bit off more than you could chew and have no idea what you're doing is an easy way to make the experience of bettering yourself needlessly unpleasant and potentially ineffective.

The same could be said for everything else he listed. Part of discipline is understanding that you may need to put in effort over a long time to see proper results, and doing this 7 day instant fix meme shit probably isn't going to work out.

>No evidence
>Le broscience
Hahahahahahhaha

I've wanted to do something like this for a while but it's very difficult to get into a regular routine with a gf who comes over 2 or 3 times a week. I can't really just meditate in the corner while she's in my room and don't think she'd appreciate specific scheduled meeting times

Uses less stimulus than other media. The whole point of rebooting the brain is to reduce the amount of stimulus your brain goes through.
