First for OP forgetting to link to previous thread.

Second for VOID COMBAT STRATEGY

Is it bad manners to take 2 light cruisers as defender in data/assasination and run for free req farming?

bump

Not at all, unless you do like every successful admiral does and turn every fight into a cruiser clash.

This. Different mission types and differentiating between attacker and defender are just fluff. Your objective, every time, is to kill everything on the board.

I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that the two missions to defend the artefacts are all that hard; I rolled both of them on hard, using carriers and upgraded Sword frigates.

Is vauls manuver not working for anyone else? it doesnt turn me 180 from where I am.

Also just played a 300 pt game vs an ork battleship with two lvl 6 light cruisers, holy fuck that thing is ridiculous, it just warped in to me and 1 shot both of my ships with broadsides

I have a feeling that this is an accurate depiction of expansion multiplayer.

>cruiser clash
>defending has IN
>against Eldar
>dominator, dauntless mk2 with overloaded void shield

Quick TT question, what's the best way to represent an ambition class RT cruiser?

Of course the RT cruiser stats could work but I don't think the ambition has torpedoes

They are just staying true to their character.

They're roleplaying correctly.

>inb4 this is master plan to bring about the unbirth of Ynnead

>me and my broslice go 2v2
>dual voidstalkers
>both opponents warp out the first time we pulsar
Elf supremacy

Considering Eldrad the Supreme Dickseer General is orchestrating this? I wouldn't be surprised if his endgame was to bone Ynnead and become the father of a new Eldar race. Of course to do that he has to *make* her first, in more ways than one.

I-I can't...

Dunno, what is an ambition supposed to have?

In RT, it's a chassis you can put other things on. In tabletop, I think they have Rogue Trader fleets/vessels. Probably those.

So, is it like some sorta barge you can outfit with turrets and such?

How is the best way to level my void stalker? have it at 6 atm but people are just running 15 escorts into it hiding like 2 light cruisers in the corner warping out after the escorts die. do people just know they can't win in a head to head fight?

Rogue Trader is an RPG. It's a set hull size you can put weapons, modules, etc on. It even specifies that Ambition-class cruisers tend to be wildly unstandardized.

Aight, so how many hardpoints can it have?
Any turret slots or can they be replaced with augur arrays?
Any torpedo ports or does it only have a prow plasma lance or even a nova cannon, or is it just a armored prow with noting on it?

Maybe a CL like the endevour?
Just remove the str 2 torps and say it's extra cargo space.
I still think the rogue trader cruiser stats cover most rogue trader ship needs.
Or be hard core and use a heavy transport.

Do 2v2 matches ever get bigger than 300points? I barely can take anything with this limit

They do increase as you level up,i got a 400 after i got to level 4ish

It's a chassis. It has like, 60 space or something (I think all cruisers had 60,) and then you have to put engines, crew quarters, life support, gellar fields, reactors, etc etc etc on it. Any leftover space and power can be used for weapons, batteries, launchers, flight decks, whatever.

I think turrets might be the only thing specified on it, but I don't have all my pdfs anymore and can't answer that for you.

No. For some reason 2v2 is 300 points plus some adjustment for level difference, 330 is the highest I've seen.

Needs to go up to 500 desu. Small points games are cool, but it would be nice if both players could field something like a real fleet occasionally.

Any tip for a decent choice for the cruiser class?

Which race idiot

Pick a faction first.

Sorry. IN

The stupid limit just makes everyone to take one battleship and MAYBE one escort. and then eldars just spam anything with pulsar

ok

Want support or brawler?

For support i swear by the Gothic as either a carrier escort/fire support

Brawler well this is more difficult. If you want a nova the dominator with AP. For Torps you have to choose between the Tyrant and Lunar. I prefer the tyrant as all the upgrades help all weapons and the long range can help catch fleeing carriers

It's essentially a standard Lunar style hull but opulent as shit and super customizable. Tends to not have the armored prow though

I think I might just use the rogue trader cruiser stats, it's not like ambitions can't have torpedoes

>brawler
>nova

When I play eldar 2v2 it's basically "have fun trying to counter a voidstalker when you can't bring jack shit" and then I win.

IN have great choice with their Crusiers, and I rate all of them except the Dictator.

Dictator's launch bays are only really useful for protecting you from Chaos bombers. Which is fine if you know you're going to be facing Chaos, but just a waste of gunspace otherwise.

Tyrant and Dominator are your bruisers. They get up close and personal, take a pounding and give out more. Deciding between them is more a case of whether you want Torps and ramming spike, or a Nova cannon, rather than anything to do with the plasma batteries. Nova gives you some range versitility, Torps are more reliable damage.

Lunar and Gothic are your support. Lunar can deal with any situation with its guns: even if it doesn't excel, it'll never be useless. Gothic tears holes in escorts like nobodies business, and pumps out crits on hull, but is definately a backline vessel: the damage is just less than macros.

Compared to a Lunar, an Ambition has slightly less space and armor, but has superior sensors and is a bit more maneuverable. Their weapon hardpoints are identical though.

Honestly the differences between them are minute enough that it wouldn't matter on the tabletop. You could get away with using a Lunar statblock for a model.

>tfw hitting two eldar ships with one stasis bomb

Yeah I'm just going to use the rogue trader cruiser stats, which are essentially just a Tyrant cruiser anyway. It would be kinda neat to be able to trade the prow armor and torpedoes to be able to count as a transport in game though

Curiously enough, the Tyrant and the Dictator are the only IN cruisers with distinctive statblocks in the system. The Dictator has the excuse of having carrier bays that can't be removed, but the Tyrant is even less different from the Lunar than the Ambition is, the only difference I can see being a whopping 2 more space for components. All the others are just Lunars with different weapons bolted on.

To its credit, the Ambition shouldn't need that rule, as it's not pigeonholed in any one role like an actual transport would. A better vessel for that would be the Conquest.

It has one prow weapon slot, so you can stick torpedoes to it. RT cruiser is probably the best bet because that's literally what it is.

Should I just skip the turn

Save scumming is not a dirty word user.

Excellent, thanks mates. I never played the RPG a lot but I saw that ship and knew it had to be the one.

Now to pair it up with a junkyard fleet of recommissioned reserve fleet cruisers that go mutinous at precisely the wrong moments and have myself a jolly privateer raiding fleet

hey /bfg/ I was wondering if anyone has the length/width of the chaos and/or imperial ships? I'm attempting to proxy some out of sprue, marine bits and building parts and I want them to be close to accurate size. Thanks in advance.

Ship size doesn't matter, base size does.

As far as gameplay goes, as long as the base size is correct you'll be just fine.

If you just want to make sure it's in scale with your other ships, I'll go measure my cruisers when I'm home from work tonight if the thread is still up

This is what happens when players don't know how to counter eldars, or their main fleet us unavailable.

I have a specific set of cruisers and LC that are outfited for eldar. If one is unavailable or im artacker in a data/assassination mission, then yes, I'll bring the minimum fleet and disengage ASAP. That way I minimize my losses and waste minimum game time that I could spend enjoying a fair fight against any other factions

I know that, but I don't want mine to look out of proportion next to "official" ships

>Imperial Guard Slav regiment

keep your transports in the corner instead of sending them to the other side of the map, and let the enemies die in your defense lines, i always won all the convoy missions by killing all enemies instead of doing the objective

Any advice on the 7th crew point of stalkers/eclipses? I have 3 gunner 3 spirit stones and it's between more troop value or better bombers now.

>gunner on elves
Pointless. You do enough raw damage not to rely on crits, you fire very rarely so you have less opportunity to strike them, and you need your orders off cooldown so you can run silent in the fuckoff phase.

>destroy opponent after opponent without even losing an escort

>match against an Ork
>fires his red buttons in such a way that I cannot even evade anymore
>half of my fleet in shambles within the first few seconds of the fight

Well fuck.

I have no qualm rerolling mission by save scumming.

They just act according to fluff

>1v1
>my IN vs Eldar scum on Data Retrieval
>I'm defending
>my ships all hit silent running, cloaking everything except my Retribution with the data on it
>Eldar thinks he's hot shit and burns straight towards me
>get a scout on him with the augur probe
>time it fucking PERFECTLY
>stasis bomb just behind his Voidstalker
>Microwarp jump my retribution immediately in front of it, crashing him into the side of the Retribution
>my previously stealthed cruisers, all with Adeptus Astartes favours and maximum ratings microwarp in as well
>in just under three seconds, he's locked in a stasis field, getting broadsided by a battleship and four cruisers with Imperial Fists playing whack-a-mole on his engines

anyone have any recommendations for getting transport ship models for TT? I see some pretty good looking clones on shapeways but theyre a bit pricey. If anyone has gotten them before and liked them then I might pick some up

How do I fight this erection your greentext gave me.

Delicious obliteration of Heresy

>tfw you ram an ork player's last cruza into a minefield with your tyrant

delicious greenskin tears as i outplay them at their own game

I don't think I understand how to properly utilize microjumps. If I got it right you can only jump into a place where no enemies are, so I only ever use it to dodge torpedo salvos that would have caught me in the face otherwise

>Orks make up for their lack of ship options by being super kustomisable!
>there's literally only two options on every ship
>all of which are variations of the same close range gun

Orks are all about having fun with the red button anyway
Who needs Dakka when you can ram

>Lunar
Good man.

Am I just bad or is Chaos shit? I try playing long range with my 12k range lances but I'm always rushed down and then have to go full panic just to try and keep my ships alive.

Chaos is fucking fantastic. Combine lances with carriers and use terrain and Tzeentch to be an infuriating faggot who can't fight like man.
Don't fucking deploy in a blob like a loyalist.

>use firestorm armada ships
>build your own transports from bits

S T A S I S B O M B S

I actually have like 9 of the old Sorylian escorts, I was just thinking of using them as alien allies though

Then again they could be alien merchants

With Refined Lenses the Gothic can hit out to 12k with 100% accuracy and no damage drop off. It's much easier to focus fire with them because you don't need to micro them to close range. You do give up the nova cannon for it.

Does anyone feel like joining me for 2v2?

These guys?
Looks 2gunny4me but cover the gunports with a strip of plasticard and it will work.
If you meant the older rounder models the same applied to them.
Sorylian ships are really sexy, I'd do a proxy IN force of them if I hadn't already got the original models.

I like the Lunar class- it is pretty good at everything.

It's misleading to say that ork ships have more variety when in actual fact they have less than everyone else. They just don't get different ship classes.

I wanted crazy ork gubbinz and do-wotz, which is why i'm a little butthurt

>or is Chaos shit?

Chaos can be pretty good, you just need to micromanage a lot.
Some fucker earlier today managed to do quite some damage to my cruiser with his escort because he always staid out of range (until I got him in the end)

>Don't fucking deploy in a blob like a loyalist.
Maybe that's my problem. I try for these fancy formations but don't split my forces. I also always get destroyed when I'm defending in a convoy mission.

Nah the even OLDER ones that just look like ribbed tubes with wings.

what is the bad moonz favor
what is boarding torpedoes
what is the evil sunz favor

How do i write to allies in multiplayer?

Spoilering Purging is Heresy.

>enemies keep just constantly warping out
Reeee, stay close and fight like a man. Or mutant. Or mushroom.

Thing is as greenskins I never get mad when I brawls with IN cause It's an actual fun match where I don't spend the entire time chasing you down.

It might be. Chaos thrives on ambushes and sensor warfare. You have a very solid brawler in the Slaughter and an elf repellent in the Carnage, but ideally you want to whittle the enemy down by striking from many directions with your flyers and lances, and then finish them off with your brawler or just close in with the lance boats to board.
To do that you need to deploy and move in a way that makes finding and chasing you effectively as awkward as possible. Consider Tzeentch, navigational shields, and camo.

>fighter screen

Oh, which does remind me. The first thing you do after the match begins is launch your fucking fighters.

You don't

Just met my first legitimately gud Eldar player.

That ended my win streak pretty handily.

Barely even damaged the fucker.

>2v2

How do I have fun in this game?

You need to stop playing as the heretic scum, and join the ranks of the glorious Imperial Navy.

>Fight the Sword of Sacrilege on a cruiser clash mission
It spent the whole mission watching me destroying it's fleet from his cloud and finally fought me when he was alone.
Easy win.

>that mission where you have to defend the crippled inquisition ship
>wave 1 is easy enough
>wave 2 has almost equal points to your fleet
>wave 3 is way larger than yours

Is this one of those missions you are supposed to fail?

>silly mon'keigh you won't catch
