Undead Civ #2

>New thread for the vampires, last thread here: suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/46883160/

You need weapons, and you need them quickly. Using the very last of your gold. You pay for swords, bows and arrows, and a single matchlock pistol. The thralls arm themselves, doubling their duties of both worker and guardsmen to your property. The original thrall wakes you

“Sire. We have not seen the cloaked figure. But I come baring a letter from the mayor” You take the letter and read:

Lord Le Vieux,
It would please me and my daughter to have your company at my 45th birthday party, held at my manor. I am glad hear that you have begun work on the old castle, and I hope it becomes a beacon for the community. My daughter has been asking many questions about you, of which I have no answers. So for my peace of mind, you simply must spend the evening with us. Father Frollo also hopes to see you at mass soon, in these dark times; we must be ever vigilant against the forces of darkness.

Sincerely
Baron Berger

With the new threat against your life, you’d be putting yourself in danger. But you also can’t pass up the opportunity to thrall the mayor or turn his daughter into your newest childe.

D. Lets put good use for that soul we just got and raise some more skello warriors!

Also. We should totally go to the party, it would be rude not too, and we may get a chance to rid ourselves of our hunter friend.

Welcome back new guy
I'll go with D but I'm thinking maybe something more inn the illusion side something that could protect us if shit does go down at the party
Invisibility maybe

I change my vote to this OP. I like the idea of dissolving our bodies into a swarm of small bats.

That could be risky, if someone sees it the town would be marching on the castle in no time

A. get the castle finished as soon as possible. If we are attacked by the hunter, we should have defenses that are better than a few thralls, and a half built fort.

Also, respectfully decline the invite. Tell them that you are not feeling well or something, because we can't know if this is a trap of the hunter or not. We ant dying for some chick yet.

Agreed, this is a bit monstrous than we need; even though it sounds cool. Perhaps we can manipulate shadows and such? Invisibility seems a bit out of our range.

Eyes on the prize man, we can kill three birds with one stone hopefully.

>D. Try to improve magic

A. can we get the wall built?

Can we get a vote op?

>D. Try to improve magic.
see if we can make this soul into a poltergeist

Also guys we should tell people we are a quaker or something to make our absence in Mass less suspicious

We will soon. Hold your horses.

This isn't a bad idea, regarding the Quaker thing

Obviously we have to go to this party. I'm voting D for now, our sorcery could use some work.

We could also have a thrall sabotage the church. If there's no church to go into, then obviously we can't go to mass.

We want to avoid suspicion though

Attempt to build up a tolerance to religious symbols through extended exposure under controlled conditions.
Weaknesses must not be allowed to remain weaknesses.

That's the point. Conspicuously not going to mass raises more suspicion than someone burning down the church. One is directly related to you, one only raises a bit of suspicion.

I think not going to mass for religious reasons, is less suspicious then the church burning down the literal week you show up.

People may be less trustful of us naturally as a quaker, but it raises fewer red flags than the church going up in flames

Then we need to start breaking people's faith in their god the less they believe the less potent their weapons are against us.

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”
-Epicurus

Agreed. We should devote our efforts to undermining the church. The mayor can help with this, once we thrall him.

[tips]

Exactly god gives and he takes away but why is he taking away so much the lumber mill has been broken our homes have been destroyed we have nowhere to live now. This would be where we step in we're a kind nobleman after all the workers of this land need someone to lookout for them.

can a man-bat as big as a man be man-bat man?

This is the dumbest proof and I have no idea why it has lasted for 2000 years

We should use the faith to fool the people and to twist it to our liking.

Also D ...I love D-cups

That's why we should go to the party. Checking the daugther

This is an awesome idea we'll enchant the town whilst a series of unfortunate events decimates the town

“It is folly for a man to pray to the gods for that which he has the power to obtain by himself.”
Is a better one, I feel.
I reckon that most people at this place will have been prayin for mundane, easily achievable shit.

We're not in china, producing substandard everything

We need to start setting biblical plagues upon these people and everytime we offer them shelter and food

Guys, plz. Let's not burn down the Church. Let's instead build up immunity or find a way to resist holy symbols. Eventually, we are going to run into more holy stuff.

That'd be cheap. Vampires have clearly defined weaknesses and all the fun is in working around them.

I agree
At the very least we can learn to visibly tolerate the presence of the symbols, so as to not have any tells unless they touch us.

I know but it doesn't mean we can't find ways to defeat it. It's like getting stronger and taking a punch. It still hurts but at least it won't knock you out.

Great idea!

The great plan is to have a combined mortal-undead kingdom.

We can use zombies to tend to the fields. No need to fed them, no need for them to sleep, no revolts.
So zombies for cashcrops and food.
The humans will remain free peasants, artisans and so forth. To get a loyal well fed population with high initiative and expertise.

Clearly defined?
Not really
Depends on the type of vampire.
Some have severe ocd, and must count everything they see, so spilling rice near them will stop them in their tracks.

You spend your hours working on ways to use magic to undermine the thrice cursed hunter. Direct attack will be futile, you have learned as much through your many years of being alive. Instead, a more subtle method of attack is needed. In your dark tomb, you begin to imbue your cloak with the powers of darkness itself. You soon become melded with their powers, going strong in its presence.
>[Shadow magic added, you can submerge yourself in any shadow at will. You can also use the shadows to create some imperfect illusions.]

You hear your original thrall from the top of the stairway “M’lord, Your horse is ready” You find it insulting to have to rely on horses, even the mechanical ones, but it is imperative that you raise no suspicion about your humanity. A few hours, after taking a break neck ride through the dark forest, you and your first thrall (who acts as your manservant for the evening) arrive at the town. While not as busy as your first visit, you still see a lot of activity at the mayor’s stately manor. As you walk through the doors, you are announced to the party. Thankfully you had your thralls feed you before going to the party, as it is so tempting to nip into the neck of the beautiful village girls. But you have only eyes for the Mayors daughter, you bares such a resemblance to your lost beloved. They mayor introduces you to many important people of the village, various lords and merchant.

>Look for the hunter.
>Seek time alone with Maria.
>Seek time alone with the mayor.

>What do you have your thrall do during your activities?

Well the idea with this village we make the villagers into our ghouls by starving them and then feeding their dead friends to them without them knowing but that can work to.

>Seek time alone with the mayor.
We can seduce Maria later.
>Our thrall can snoop for clues of the hunter

Greet the mayor first and have the thrall look around for the hunter after meeting with the mayor slip away and look for our girl

Seek time alone with the mayor.
Maria...we should court for a while, before giving her a choice.

Have the thrall spread rumours about the priest, saying he saw him with lipstick upon his neck the other day.

Don't snub the daughter, but definitely spend time with the mayor. Try to get him alone and thrall him.

Reiterate the invitation to the daughter to visit the castle once it's finished.

Our thralls should keep an eye out for the hunter.

Spend time with the mayor. Talk with. Try to get informations about this time and age.

Thrall shall look out for the hunter

The tax that our villagers should later pay is simply. If they die, their bodies are handed to us.

>Try to get him alone and thrall him.
No! That would raise suspission. We should stay low ...for the time

We need to mingle but first we should give our greetings and well wishes to the man of the hour

>No! That would raise suspission.
How exactly? Nobody would know.

Have a chat with the mayor while our thrall learns some more about the hunter

And have our thralls act Normal proper and normal but normal them going about listening in to people's conversations could give them away and us by extension.

"hei ...suddenly the mayor is acting strange, and more and more people are disappearing. What could that be?"

>suddenly the mayor is acting strange
>implying

I think we have a different view on what a thrall is and how they are acting.

Our original thrall acts pretty normal. He's easily passed for unchanged in town before, and the mayor can be the same.

As far as I can tell from former updates the only change they undergo is obedience.

It could use some clarification on which kind of thrall exists here

Okay but I am with this user
if it is like you say then sure, go for it
Let's see if OP can make it clear

He did go without provoking attention but maybe he wasn't known well where as the mayor could raise suspicion if he started acting differently especially around his daughter and we don't want her pissed at us

Our original thrall was a criminal and a grave-robber, so his behavior was already suspect.

Checked.

I guess we could use some clarification from OP

The only change is in obedience.
The thrall still has the same personality, mas evident by the thralls being disgusted by gruesome displays, and by their abundant fear. Not to mention the fact that their families, despite being disgruntled over the move, suspect little. And if family doesn't notice, who will?

Fair point if our thrall's family aren't throwing a stink I doubt the mayor's would but intelligence could also be a factor we might have lowly peasant thrall's and families and the daughter could be learned

So why we don't enthrall everyone! :D

I'm sure there's some sort of cap at some point, but as it is I figure we can get away with enthralling anyone we want.

Thralls will not raise any suspicion, they are completely loyal and will do anything to make sure that you were safe. They are however capable of human faults just like anybody else; so if you send them to do something hard. They have a good chance of fucking up. Their personalities are the same, but won't be able to resist your orders.

so basically our thralls are just mind controlled humans. is there any way we could create a few lesser vampires? something less inconspicuous than a mortal, but with some of the powers that we wield?

It's settled then

I think the basic plan is for Maria to be our first real convert and rule by our side.

We should spend a few days in town just thralling the shit out of prostitutes, solitary workers, and we prooobably should thrall the builder we hired, because we can just order him to maintain his normal work schedule and build shit for other people as he would normally, but to give us e plans for their castles and such later.

First business then pleasure. We've still got a hunter to deal with then we can turn Maria. Also frollo needs to go fast if we're to turn the mayor he's a personal friend and a nosy one at that he'd notice how much time the mayor and our guy are spending together.

Our original thrall recommended that we not thrall the builder because he's famous and people will come and investigate why he's staying with us.

That said, we can always just go balls deep and do it anyway.

Yeah, thats why we tell him to act normally. To go do what he would do normally.

Ah, right, missed the last half of your post for some reason. It's a good plan.

I have an idea for what we do with the hunter. We need to be a saint in the eyes of the people shelter the homeless, give money to the church and so forth. We'll also have to go farther out to hunt we can't touch any villager because eventually when the hunter accuses or attacks us he'll seem crazy to accuse us of being a monster. In other words he needs to look like the monster attacking the noble count.

>Meet with the mayor and have our thrall watch for the hunter
Votes have been weighed. Writing! (Sorry the slow updates. Had to drive home after school, and finals are pain in my neck.

Of course, all he needs to do is throw some holy water at us and we're revealed. If you ask me, I favor taking power quickly, before he can react.

Do it fast and we run into one too many speed bumps, plus that's why you tamper with his gear you replace the holy water with regular water or with alcohol

We will pretend to be allergic to pure water. It's the nuclear wasteland we're living.

>replace holy water with pure alcohol
>throw in the hunter's face
>watch as he screams in pain and everyone thinks he evil, maybe do it around fire so he bursts into flames

I like your train of thought

kek

We really should do this if he attacks us in public that kind of stunt would make us idolized to the entire town. We wouldnt need to thrall them then, we will but they would already do anything because we saved them. Maybe acting like a vampire hunter could be good for us....

It's not acting like a vampire hunter persay it's just we're the nobleman who looks out for the little guy. See we even found the true monster among you and we didn't t even have to get paid to do it.

I suspect that as long as the church is active we're going to have problems. We'll want to deal with Frollo as soon as possible, and once we're idolized we should undermine the church as much as possible.

“I realize this is your birthday, but I was hoping I could have a word with you in privet mayor. Its rather important business I’m afraid.” you say, though you ache to spend more time with Maria. The mayor looks as though he’d rather mingle with the other important gests, but you use a portion of your mind powers to make him more agreeable.

“But of course Lord Le Vieux… by the way, what title do you have. If you don’t mind me asking.”

“I am a Count, from my family’s lineage”

“Ah, very good… please, come with me, we can talk in my library.” You two make your way past party goers. Even passing Maria, who seems to be having a awful time with her mother as Boys from the village step up to ask for a dance. She looks up to see your face, and a smile grows. Vampires tend to obsess over beautiful mortals, but you find that smile enchanting. I roguish wink, signals that you will speak with her later. She blushes, clearly inexperienced with such courtship. Down a hallway, and passed several doors, you make it to a library that smells of tobacco, brandy, and well loved books.

“Well, you have me alone Count Le Vieux. What was so urgent?” You look around, shutting the door behind you as you make sure the cost is clear.

“I was hoping to ask for a job. I am afraid I have already run out of funds rebuilding my family’s estate. I have grown found of this village, and I wish to settle down. Make a family perhaps. And any assistance would be appreciated, as I am the last of my line.”

“That is excellent my boy! We always welcome new people in our village. I must say there is much talk about you already, gossip you understand. But I think that we can find work for you… we are always in need of… Count Le Vieux? What are you?!” while the mayor was busying himself, making a couple glasses of brandy, you soundlessly hover over the carpet. Before he could put up much of a fight, you seize his head and force your will upon him. He is a good man, a righteous man, so it challenges you to take him; especially with your will spread over multiple thralls at once. But his inebriation from the party gives you the edge you need to control the old man. Quietly, you set him down on a chair. You pour much of the brandy into the fire, to make it look as though he had drank too much. Before leaving the room, you leave the impression that you will be back with more orders; but for now he is to pretend to be his normal self.

You return to the party, the guests having not noticed the mayors absence. Fine men and women of the town in their Sunday best. You make your way thought the crowd eager than if you had waltzed passed them. You soon see your prize.

“Goodevening ladies” you say, interrupting the hunting story a merchant’s son was retelling Maria “But I was hoping to borrow this young lady for a dance”

“We where talking!” He says, clearly not liking you, but Maria replies with

“I would love to dance” You take her pale hand your gloved one, and escort her to the ballroom. The band begins to play a The Blue Danube Waltz, and you take your role as lead. Your eyes never leaving Maria’s, as you show off your prowess at dance. Her gown flowing with every movement you take her through, each step as though she weighed nothing at all. Buy the songs end, the ballroom applauds your performance. Flushed, Maria laughs.

“I have never danced quite like that Lord Le Vieux”

“Please, call me Marius”

“Very well. Marius” You both realize you have not disengaged each others gaze for quite sometime. Embarrassed, she fans herself with a silk fan. “I think the band is starting again, shall we dance again?”

Just before you reply, you feel a tug on your silk sleeve. It is your thrall…. With every world laced with danger, you say “What…is…it…”

Stammering he replies “M’lord, your FRIEND is here tonight.” He nods his head towards to the window. You can see him, standing underneath a tree with a mask hiding his face.

“I am afraid I must take my leave, please. Tell me that we will meet again… soon.”

“Of course! I’d be delighted.” After which you bid her a good night, being so bold as to place a delicate kiss on the top of her hand. You leave, taking the horses from the stable. Their metallic clopping beating a pace on the cobbled streets. Once you reach the forest, you leave your mount and take to the skies. The feeling of cold air leading you home as you recount your successful night, burning in you mind, the smell of Maria’s perfume along with the frantic beating of her heart.

Same goes for future skeletons.

I think we need to up our defenses to keep prying eyes (the hunter) from discovering what we are although he may already know and is looking for proof

Attempt to build up a tolerance to holy symbols.
If we absolutely cannot, then we should try just reading our books for more modern knowledge.

Have the thralls hunt for food- mortal food, that is. We must feed them.

A/F. lets begin to use the mayor. Perhaps we can get more workers on building our castle?

G. lets hunt down this hunter.

We personally should further hone our magical skill, we'll need to be very good in combat should the hunter come after us. I personally suggest improved magical awareness/senses.

The thralls should start improving the land around the castle, farming it and such.

NOT YET YOU FOOL

We could inject increasing doses of holy water to build a tolerance.
