You walked all day, found some treasure buried under a lake, dug it out from the sand and dragged it out to safety. It's been taxing but satisfying. You finally reached the lake house when the sun was already down and found out it belonged to the marquise, who gave you an exploration charter and a mission.
Well, she just wanted you to bring a sealed scroll to a certain Stanley in Maner. Easy, right?
The problem is that she wanted you to leave right now. “The night is young” she said with a smile, as if expecting you to go there right now.
After a five minute walk, you leave the sandy and somewhat rocky beach the house was built close to and enter the grassy fields again. The grating of insect limbs against each other produce the normally somewhat soothing sound crickets make, or cicadas, or maybe some other strange and exotic bug that's active at night since what you hear sounds nothing like either of the former options.
And then Bryld just says it out loud.
“Why do we have to go right now? What's wrong with her?”, she openly complains, looking as tired as you expect her to be after the day you had. She's having trouble putting one foot ahead of the other by now, and even if you're much more used to physical labour than she is you have to admit that you would really, really love to just hit the sack right now.
“I understand it might be urgent, but it's night! People shouldn't travel at night! And does she really have no servants? I can't believe she doesn't!”, she continues.
You gained two scrolls by interacting with her: one is your exploration charter, which officially makes you a Shadow Marches explorer, possibly the first of your kind, and you need to take good care of it; the other is a sealed message for this Stanley.
>”If it's urgent, we have to deliver it now”.
>”It can't be this urgent, let's camp out for the night”.
>”I'd rather force myself to march so we can sleep in a real bed tonight, let's reach Maner”.
>Other?
