Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Quest 2!

Hello one and all, and welcome to Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Quest. A quest inspired by the incredibly weeaboo series Dangan Ronpa. You like killing games like Battle Royale? You like Murder Mysteries? You just might enjoy this quest! (I make no guarantees though.) This Quest is set at the prestigious Yggdrasil Academy International, where a mysterious set of circumstances unfold.

Before we begin, you have to decide on who you are, and before you can decide that, I'll have to explain about Yggdrasil Academy International. Yggdrasil Academy is a prestigious boarding school catering to a specific set of secondary school students gathered from four countries: The United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and the United States. There are two main entry requirements for this academy. One, students must already be attending secondary school, and be at least 16 years of age. Two, students must be the absolute best at a specific talent out of the combined student body of the four countries listed above. There is no way to apply to Yggdrasil Academy. The only way in is for the school itself to scout you. Because all students attending the academy have something they specifically are the absolute best at, they are referred to by a specific title.

Omegas.

As they're the complete end-point when it comes to students in pursuit of that talent, it's only fitting to call these end-points of talent Omegas. After all, there's no surpassing an Omega.

Our Protagonist, Zachary Lineman, is the Omega Actor. Having woken up to discover himself trapped inside by metal plates, he proceeded to explore the ground floor, meeting 14 other Omegas from his class. However, while meeting the last three, he heard the sound of a school bell...

There's a crackle of static in the air, coming from the P.A system speakers you see embedded in the walls. But before long, an oddly high-pitched voice rings out through the speakers. "Hello? Hello? Is this thing on? Testing testing testing testing! Man, this a pretty terrible P.A system! Anyway, please gather in the courtyard as soon as possible! C'mon, hop to it!"

The voice sounds so completely and totally carefree, that it seems so out of place in this weird situation. Edward, Becky and Rose all have puzzled looks on their faces.

What do you do?

Head to he courtyard, if they got access to the P.A. they either found something or know more than we do

To the courtyard then.

To the courtyard. Time to meet Faith.

You head to the courtyard, with the other three trailing behind. As you open the double doors, you notice that everyone you met over the course of your investigation is present. In total, there's fifteen of you, like Quentin said. They're all gathered in front of the announcement podium you spotted earlier. You walk over to them and give a brief hello. Becky looks from student to student with one eyebrow raised. "So, who called the announcement?"

Quentin shrugs. "That's the thing. None of us did. And I don't think it was one of you four either, right?"

Edward tosses his hair and shakes his head. Becky scribbles something down on her notepad. Steven cracks his knuckles menacingly. "So if it wasn't one of you clowns, who in the hell was it? C'mon, one of you bastards oughta know. Speak up!"

Juliet scowls and points at Steven. "Lessen that attitude of yours, Private! You will be briefed when all the necessary data has been gathered! NOW STAND AT ATTENTION!"

Steven yelps and does exactly what Juliet says. Looks like he doesn't have that much backbone. Juliet turns to face you. "Now, Lt. Lineman! Report!"

What do you do?

Report in character.

Snap a salute and report. We found all field agents, found no current routes of withdrawal and have deduced the composition of the wall, which is currently beyond our means of penitration

"Sir!" With salute

"Reporting in, ma'am!"

You snap to attention, give a salute, and report. "Sir! All field agents located, Sir! No current available escape routes discovered sir!

She gives you an approving smile. "Very good soldier. You can give me the details at the debriefing. Keep it up and you'll go far. Now, let's see what we can do about the unsanctioned communications broadcast that was recently transmitted."

Juliet begins to head towards the podium, but before she could take more than a few more steps, something black and white jumps out from behind it. "Man you guys are slow! I was going to wait until you all got here, but I've been waiting for AGES and I'm sick of it! So I guess we'll start right now!"

The black and white thing seems to have landed on top of the podium. On further inspection it looks kind of like a stuffed toy bear, only one side is black, and one side is white, with a spikey red eye on the black side.

What do you do?

Just listen and wait, I guess.

Nothing. Stand and studying everyone else.

Wait and see

You decide that it's best to just wait for now, and listen to what this bear has to say. "I mean, you guys are supposed to be Omegas, right? The very best of the best? So good that no one can get past you? But you've been stumbling around like a bunch of blind hedgehogs! I mean, what have you even learned so far?"

Everyone looks at each other, dumbfounded. At that point, the double doors leading from reception burst open, and someone else walks in. She's wearing a bright pink skirt and white boots, with a buttoned up black trench coat. The coat is covered in multicolored tetrominos of all things. Talk about gaudy. Her long blue hair trails behind her, with the top of her head covered by a pink newsboy cap. Her eyes are the same shade of pink. "Sorry I'm late. I was in the restrooms."

Neville grimaces. "Oh god, not another one."

What do you do?

Shrug and listen to the bear.

Listen and observe.

Listen to the bear

You get the feeling that the bear's not done. So after shrugging your shoulders, you turn back to him. "Okay okay okay, NOW you're all here. That's good! I can explain all the rules now! So, the more observant of you may have noticed that you're trapped inside Yggdrasil Academy with no way out! Now that I've said it, even the slow-witted ones are probably realizing that that's really bad! But don't worry! The kitchen is well stocked, so you won't run out of food. I've got the plumbing well in hand too. The dorm beds are pretty comfy I suppose, though I only heard that secondhand. You've got everything you need to live in this school for the rest of your lives!"

Rose makes a face at the bear. "What? There's no way we can live in this school for the rest of our lives! We've got stuff to do! Who are you to tell us what to do, anyway!"

The Bear just raises one paw... Menacingly? You're not sure if that's the right term to apply to a stuffed animal, but you think it fits. "I am Monokuma! The new acting headmaster of Yggdrasil Academy! I may be a Japanese mascot originally, but I've taken plenty of language classes and courses on western culture before coming over here, so hopefully I'll fit right in!"

Georgina claps her hands together. "Oh, so you're kind of like an exchange student, but a headmaster? So you're an exchange headmaster? That's wonderful!"

Monokuma nods."Oh yes, it's pretty impressive I must admit. But we mustn't dawdle. Why do you think I called you here? I need to explain the school rules as they apply to this Neverending Semester! Pretty good way to describe your life at this school, huh? So, you're probably wondering 'is there really no way to escape?' But don't worry! For those students that absolutely 100% NEED to get outside, there is a course you can take to graduate. Can you guess what the subject is?"

What do you do?

I take it it's detective work or death?
I knew the QM was Satan.

>666
It's a sign.
"We complete for a prize or something?"

ACTING! Or I donno maths?

You respond. "We compete for a prize, or something like that? Or is it just a regular course, like drama or maths?"

Monokuma starts laughing. "Boy, you've sure got one hell of an imagination! Nah, nothing so complicated like that. To tell you the truth, I'm actually pretty awful at maths! And there's no way I'm gonna take on the Omega Actor at Drama. But here's the long and short of it. You wanna get out of here? You've got to kill another student and get away with it!"

His announcement shocks the whole class. Lucas shudders. "Kill each other... You mean, to get out we've gotta murder each other?"

Monokuma nods vigorously. "Yep! Any way you want! Stabbing, strangling, burning, drowning, slashing, bludgeoning, all that good stuff! To get out of here, you've got to kill one of the other students you're standing with right now. And that's not all! Once a body is discovered, we're gonna have a class trial, and you'll have a chance to discover who did it! If you guys can guess the murderer correctly, they'll be executed!"

Francine cocks her head to the side, frowning. "So even if someone does what you want and kills someone else, they'll still die if we out them to you?"

Monokuma folds his arms. "Man, you guys are on point today! That's right, you have to kill someone AND get away with it in order to escape this academy! And of course, people need a motivation to discover the killer. So if you guys guess wrong, I'll let the murderer walk off free as a bird, and execute the rest of ya! That's the basic gist of the Neverending Semester! Anyway, I'll leave you guys to discuss things among yourselves. Call if you need anything!"

Monokuma jumps back behind the podium and vanishes.

What do you do?

Well, shit.

Report back to Juliet.

Call the little shit back, why the fuck are we in the first place

You try to call him back. "Hey, get back here! Why are we even here in the first place!?"

However, when you rush around the podium, he's not there. You head back to others, who are discussing the whole thing in little groups. You head over to Juliet, currently conversing with the 16th student. "Your absence is unacceptable, soldier! Never abandon your squad during an operation!"

The 16th student just stares back at Juliet. "It was unavoidable. I'm sorry."

She turns to you. "Hello. What's your name?"

Introduce our self.

Lie.

The name's Zachary Lineman."

Basic intro.

Holy shit the mod really did start a quest board

Just tell her are name

"I'm Zachary Lineman. What about you?"

The 16th student pushes her cap up slightly with her finger. "I'm Cassandra Cross. Omega Solutionist. It's nice to meet you."

Before you can respond, she moves off to talk with another student. Juliet just shakes her head. "That soldier is trouble. Mark my words, Lt. Lineman. In a scenario like this, we need seamless cooperation, and she looks to be the kind of person who doesn't play nice with others."

She heads over to the announcement podium. "Attention! We shall rendezvous at the dining hall to share information! Double time, people!"

With that, Juliet and several others head towards the dining hall, with a few students staying put here in the courtyard.

What do you do?

Info is good.

Play the part of a dutiful soldier.
Start planning a mass murder.

Head to dining hall

FOllow our commanding oficer

Be friends with the one person who might be a trained fighter

Walk to the dining hall.

That would defeat the purpose of the trail if everyone is dead.

You follow Juliet to the dining hall. When you and the others arrive, you notice a large pile of digital tablets stacked up on one of the tables. Cameron reaches for one of the tablets, but a voice stops him. "You aren't seriously gonna pick up one of the E-Handbooks without me explaining them, are ya?"

You turn around and see Monokuma waddling through the door leading to the dorms. "I mean c'mon, they could have been bombs for all you knew! But seeing as you couldn't help yourself, you can get the first one! What you guys are looking at are my next-century level E-Handbooks! They're these handy-dandy digital tablets with all the info you'll need for living at this school! When you pick up an E-Handbook for the first time, it'll read your fingerprint and register itself to you specifically. From then on, when you switch it on, it'll show your name! So you better always make sure you're carrying yours. Oh, and you can only be registered once, so there's no way for you to get multiple handbooks. The school regulations are listed in there, so make sure to take good care of yours!"

He waddles off and disappears through the door again. Steven dashes over, opens the door and looks down the corridor. "No good, the goddamn bear just vanished!"

Juliet picks up her E-handbook, then grabs another and hands it to you. "Here, take a look at the information inside. It does seem to be mission-critical data."

You boot it up.

pastebin.com/pYh4s2iW

What do you do?

Fancy.

Let's go over the current events with Juliet.
Should we vote for our personal details?

>Rule 13: A single blackened may only murder two other students at most.
Well shit there goes my plan.

Go over information with Juliet

Collaborate with Juliet. That's four dead

Seconded, but pull her to the side.

"Misson-critical data and the MO should not be discussed in front of civis yes?"

You and Juliet sit down on a bench together away from the others and go over the information contained in the E-handbook, as well as everything that's happened up to this point. "It seems that except for Nighttime restrictions, we're allowed to investigate this academy as we wish. According to this, students who commit murder are known as "the blackened", while the rest are known as "the spotless." For us to survive, we have to uncover the identity of the blackened whenever a murder is committed, and sacrifice them to Monokuma. All these rules seem to be designed to push us to murder. Maintaining morale will be important in these trying times. Keep all these regulations in mind, Lt. Lineman. I believe that breaking them is an automatic fail state on this mission."

She turns away and gives the others a similar speech. "-Now, as it is already 2100 hours, I recommend we break for the day, rest up in the provided dorms, and reconvene here tomorrow at 0700 hours so that we can go over our plans for withdrawal."

She marches back over to you while the others all head towards the Dorms. "You had better rest up too, Lt. Lineman. I'll be counting on you tomorrow. Your room shouldn't be hard to find, all the doors have been fitted with nameplates."

What do you do?

Sleep, but make sure the door is locked so no one assassinates you at night.

Go to our room, explore it lock it pray for the morrow

Get to room and secure it

"Sir, yes sir!" Then head off to the dorm for rest.

Explore the kitchen for a knife. Purely for self defense.

Sleep but make your room is safe.

You salute Juliet once more and head to the dorms. You make it to the hallway of rooms, finding that they follow a pattern. All the male dorms are on one side and all the female dorms are on the other side. Your dorm room is at the very end of the row, next to Quentin's and adjacent to Juliet's. You reach your room, pull open the door, and check inside. It's a fairly standard room, with a bed, a desk, a small table with two chairs, and even an adjacent bathroom. Lying on the table is a key on a keychain with your name carved into it. You figure it's the key to your dorm's door, and after checking the room once more, test it out. You close your door, turn the key, and the lock clicks. You test the handle, but it doesn't budge. Satisfied that your room is secure, you retire to bed, exhausted after the events of the day.

DAY 1: END.

DAY 2: BEGIN.

You wake up after a night of troubled sleep to the sound of a familiar and annoying voice drifting out of the speakers. "Good morning students! It's now 7 AM and it's officially daytime again! Now let's start the day with lots of energy!"

The speakers click off and you roll out of bed. Looks like Monokuma's still around, figuratively speaking.

What do you do?

Breakfast.

Let's get cleaned up

Report to the dining hall, do not piss off C.O.

Dining hall.

Head to the dining hall.
Musn't keep the others waiting.

After a quick wash in the adjoining bathroom, you head off to the dining hall. While heading down the hallway, you see Alice and Cameron chatting outside their rooms. Looks like the scientists of the group stick together. You finally reach the dining hall to see Juliet, Lucas, Georgina, and Eddie all digging into their breakfast. It seems the others haven't shown up yet. You grab yourself a bowl of cereal and chow down as more people trickle into the dining hall. The last person to arrive is Cassandra, who also grabs some cereal. Juliet slams her hand down on the table dramatically. "Alright, we made a cursory inspection yesterday, and we've got the basic idea of the layout of this academy. There's the reception area, which contains the restrooms, the gym, the dining hall, the courtyard, and the dormitory! There's also a set of stairs leading up to the next floor located in the corridor between the reception area and the gym, but at the moment they are blocked off by a metal grate. Steven has tried lifting it, but no progress was made."

Alice interjects, with a puzzled look on her face. "Why do we care about getting up to the next floor? We wanna get out of here, right? We should be focusing on getting through that big metal plate at reception, right?"

Juliet shakes her head. "Negative. While our goal is to achieve a tactical withdrawal from this area, we shouldn't ignore the possibility of additional tactical locations being found on the upper floors. Keep that in mind. Now as there have been no breakthroughs in creating an exit, we shall simply have to keep our eyes peeled for opportunities. While going about your business today, take note of anything interesting that you may see or hear. If you can find Monokuma, ask him how we can get up to the next floor. That is all. Dismissed!"

She marches out of the dining hall along with most of the others, who've finished their food. (Cont...)

This is a period of Free Time. You can choose to just rest up in your room for a while, or choose to spend the time with another student in the class. Depending on how well you get along with your fellow students, you may find out more about them, or learn new skills.

Talk to Fisher or Solutionist

You search the school for Juliet, finding her back in the Gym, going over her maps. "Ah, Lt. Lineman. I was just going over some strategic exercises. Care to join me?"

You spend most of the morning discussing tactics with Juliet, learning basic strategic principles.

"So Lt. Lineman, what do you think is the most important quality for a Tactician to have?"

What do you say?

Flexibility.
Someone who can't adapt to a changing battle will lose it.

Insight on the enemies. Know their next move before they know it.

Observation and adaptability

The Lord Willing it on your Crusade. Everyone backs Crusades.

"Quite right. You have to be able to react to new data as it comes. Sometimes, you'll discover that your initial plan won't work, thanks to some last-minute information. You've got to be able to formulate a new plan quickly, without hesitation. Never be afraid to admit you were wrong about something, Lt. Lineman. It may end up costing you dearly."

With those words still hanging in your head, you head back to the dining hall for lunch. You grab a bite to eat and finish it quickly. You still have some Free Time left.

You sit down on a bench in the courtyard and spend some time watching the others as they go about their day. After about an hour of watching, Melissa comes and sits next to you on the bench. The two of you continue to pass the time in total silence. By the end of it, you've managed to pick up on everyone's mannerisms and habits pretty well. As you rise from the bench, Melissa speaks up. "That was nice. Why do you do it?"

What do you say?

"I love people watching. Everyone lives an...unique life even when they don't know it."

Bring about from within you the most Space Marine Voice possible, and yell out to the school. "TO PURGE HERETICS."

"It helped a lot in performances, that way you knew how to respond to everyone involved in the production correctly."
"Guess it's just become habit now."

"Helps me learn more about people"

"Mhm. Everyone pays so much attention to people's words that they don't notice how complex body language is. It makes you appreciate how different we all are."

She heads off, leaving you to ponder her words. You eat dinner with everyone else, and like last night Juliet dismisses everyone. You head to your bedroom, lock yourself in, and drift off to sleep. It's been a pretty lazy day. Monokuma didn't show up beyond the announcements, either. Maybe things won't be so bad.

DAY 2: END.

DAY 3: BEGIN.

You wake up after a night of peaceful sleep to the sound of a familiar and annoying voice drifting out of the speakers. "Good morning students! It's now 7 AM and it's officially daytime again! Now let's start the day with lots of energy!"

The speakers click off and you roll out of bed.

You head off to the dining hall like yesterday, and eat breakfast. Seems like everything is settling into a nice routine.
