>So humanity is pretty much fucked, right?
Chaos pls go.
Humanity not so much.
The Imperium? Possibly in the extreme long term.
Yep, tau are going to doom us all
Yes, no, and maybe. It depends on who's writing the next dex, and if GW is stupid enough to ruin 40k more.
Tau are for sure. They're about to be caught between two fleets that have more soldiers than the Tau empire has cells in its combined bodies.
Unless some unlikely coincidences happen or a masterstroke plan, pretty much. Unlike Chaos, Necron or Tyranid endgames they're not on track to meet their target.
Still not in such dire straits as the Tau though, who's endgame goal of somehow surviving all the incredibly deadly shit out there to somehow science their way out seems dubious in it's viability.
When are their suits going to rebel?
For the last 10.000 years, non-stop.
When your arse feels like a storage shed for jackhammers, all grimdark becomes aceptable.
From that it doesn't look like the Maelstrom is much smaller than the Eye of Terror.
If the Eye of Terror is the remains of the birth of Slaanesh, then what the fuck caused the Maelstrom?
Both eldars and humans are fucked.
Hush your mouth, dude.
The Imperium was meant to be fucked from the start. that's why it's grimdark and not overnight
No, because the Chaos God of Profit has seen fit to freeze time at the exact instant before the 42nd Millennium starts, disallowing any change to occur for good or bad. Therefore humanity remains in a constant, unending state of fucking happening to it but never quite reaching the point of "fucked" in that tense of the word.
Truly the MOST Grimdark of scenarios. Schrodinger's Cat of Fuckedness on a galactic scale, ever unending.
The rulebook says that the Imperium is ending no matter what.
The rulebooks says the Imperium is ending. This is going start happening after 999 41K. I give Abaddon's13th Crusade less than a 50 years to reach Terra and finish it all.
The fate of humanity is either marvelous apotheosis or chaotic DOOM, according to ze rulebook.
What two fleets? There aren't two major fleets near the Tau.
Only some splinter fleets.
The pylons may have contained the warp energy keeping the eye smaller then it should be
>then what the fuck caused the Maelstrom?
Birth of a minor Chaos entity. It could be Be'lakor. Or just the Warp being turbulent.
Necron pre-sleep maps show that the Maelstrom wasn't a thing during the War in Heaven.
I can't believe that anything Abaddon does will do anything to the Imperium other than a temporary halt
Didn't Abaddon already lose the 13th Black Crusade or am I going nuts?
Retconned.
The setting was rolled back to the moment he is about to launch it.
The lore says he is the greatest threat to the Imperium and also the guy destined to destroy it.
>The lore says he is the greatest threat to the Imperium and also the guy destined to destroy it.
Doesn't mean he'll reach Holy Terra or actually conquer it.
My current what will be headcanon is that somehow he just causes the emperor to die. Cue new eye of terror because the astronomicon is fucked, a few of the big sectors hold out, probably forced to work more and more with the Eldar, while the chaos god of fear and hubris rises.
made this visual aid for you, OP
>"So humanity is pretty much fucked, right" says increasingly nervous heretic for the thousandth time
Maybe it's where the Old Ones are from? What if the area exploded into enslavers?
Maybe when Abaddon can actually pull off a successful Black Crusade. Also, how fucked is Chaos if the Nids come knocking on the Eye of Terror's door?
That would require the plot to progress, so no.
Though now I wonder what Holy Terra would look like in a post-human scenario, assuming neither Xenos nor Chaos get their grubby hands on it. Could life still thrive on it, given the planet doesn't even have oceans any more?
nice headcannon faggot
Yes. Don't worry though, it gets worse.
>The great conflict of Octavius had no victory, a war without end. In the fiery chasm of strife, the locust and the green holocaust fused, as beast looked upon barbarian and both saw the other as kin. The new entity spread with a speed undreamt of by Ork or Tyranid. War and hunger melded into a singular desire to ravage, rape and remake all in the image of the New Devourer.
>taking fan wank as cannon
Given that Terra is pretty much devoid of any natural life, I don't think anything could grow there again. There's no natural water, and it's the biggest hive in the galaxy. Throneworld or not, I don't think anything can grow there anymore.
It's M42.0050, the great enemy stands before the Eternity Gate. Hundreds of Custodes lie around, all fallen in front of the might of Drach'nyen. A last glimmer of hope stands between Abaddon and the Emperor: Constantin Valdor still holds out against the great foe, but even the most powerful custodes succumbs to the forces of Chaos. The gate opens, and Abaddon slowly walks up to the Golden Throne. "Death to the false Emperor!" he proclaims, and strikes down with the Talon of Horus.
But the hit doesn't connect. A Void Shield crackles in front of Abaddon, and the earth begins to rumble. As the Warmaster of Chaos falls down the stairs, the Golden Throne rises up and reveals itself to be the command chamber of the biggest Titan the galaxy has ever seen. The Emperor himself has awoken, and through the vox of the Titan, he speaks only a few words to Abaddon. Legend has it, that he said: "Hit my music!"

it isn't headcanon if you can't prove me wrong :^)
>there isn't a flying spaghetti monster who created the universe if you can't prove me wrong
kill yourself
Everyone is prettymuch fucked. That's the entire idea. Either getting fucked and/or being fucked from the get go.
Eldar? Destine to be fucked by their own hubris and meddling. Living in a 9/10ths-fucked-to-death arrogance tears crumbling ivory hell tower.
Humans? Destined to be fucked as the new eldar on the block, forced to become increasingly self fucked to maintain the most genocidal horrific dictatorship ever, that will inevitably fail.
Orks? Lost children of the old ones, made to fight a war they don't remember or even have the capacity to care about. They don't even have the capacity to grasp how fucked they are inherently.
Tau? Naive stumbling neo colonial empire fragmenting as it grows in size despite a totalitarian cast system and mind control, in the face of a hive fleet and their own staggering irrelevance. They can either stay small and get fucked when a larger force gets around to it, or grow enough to crumble under the actual horror of the galaxy they were unfortunate enough to exist in.
Necrons? Already largely soul sundered automatons supporting insane oligarchs fighting over the forgotten remains of their old glories while the c'tan gather in the shadows and plot their revenge. Fucked from before our sun was old.
Tyranids? Cursed to wander the void in an unending search for sustenance and biomass to maintain the hive mind's endless hunger. Each part of the swarm an unfeeling weapon birthed to die.
Chaos? I don't really have to explain this one. They're fucked on purpose.
>The only reason it took soo long for the Emperor to awaken is because he spent the past millennia going through his vast collection of music to find the perfect song to come back to
>Orks? Lost children of the old ones, made to fight a war they don't remember or even have the capacity to care about. They don't even have the capacity to grasp how fucked they are inherently.
From an outside-perspective you might be on to something, but the Orks themselves seem to be pretty happy with the state of the galaxy
>Tyranids? Cursed to wander the void in an unending search for sustenance and biomass to maintain the hive mind's endless hunger. Each part of the swarm an unfeeling weapon birthed to die.
Tyranids seem (mostly) more like primitive animals to me. I think you could compare them with a hunter (the Hivemind and Broodlords and such) and a pack of dogs (everything else). The hunter is aware of what he'S doing, the dogs only slightly. Sure they know they are going for a hunt, but they don't care about it. They're okay with this.
Of course its from an outsider's perspective. We're the outsiders playing the games, reading the books, etc. who can see the whole picture. Internal universe logic wise pretty much everyone thinks they're doing the right thing and its fine. That's the joke.
Orks are eternal war they don't even understand sucks. Nids are eternal hunger they don't even understand sucks.
Tyranids avoid Warpstorms.
And all Abaddon's crusades were successful, canonically. Except the 13th which is ongoing.
>assuming I said anything as canon.
>the "fan wank" tops 90% of all of Black Library in quality and respect to canon.
Ciaphas Cain books were edited in the 42 millennium
>The lore says he is the greatest threat to the imperium
>12 black crusades later, humanity still doesn't give a fuck
>meanwhile, the exponential expansion of 'nids and the unstoppable march of the necrons is laying waste to an ever growing number of planets, many times more than Flabbadon managed to scratch
please, the lore also says that Ollanius Pius wasn't the one Horus killed, and besides, it has been repeatedly suggested that all 'lore' is in fact Imperial Propaganda and meant to be skewed.
black crusades later, humanity still doesn't give a fuck
Actually, the Imperium as a whole is scarred shitless by Abaddon including the High Lords
>>meanwhile, the exponential expansion of 'nids and the unstoppable march of the necrons is laying waste to an ever growing number of planets, many times more than Flabbadon managed to scratch
False.
Chaos and Abaddon have been stated to have cause the Imperium more damage and woe than any other force. In fact, it's stated in the rulebook (5th, 6th ED,7thEd) that the Xenos threats pale before the threat of Chaos.
>it has been repeatedly suggested that all 'lore' is in fact Imperial Propaganda and meant to be skewed.
This was never suggested.
Anyone who suggests this is a guy who got backed into the wall when his precious headcanon was call out.
>the lore also says that Ollanius Pius wasn't the one Horus killed
(picture related). Olly's fluff has underwent many re-writes to make it more logical and fitting to the setting. The HH series re-write is the latest one.
And there are fantasy books like some books of the G&F series that took place after 2525 with no mention of the End Times events and some adopted the results of SoC. Guess what happened to them? They were ignored and the new G&F books followed the End Times storyline.
Newer Cain novels don't mention anything about 42K, IIRC
>flying spaghetti monster
Hi, Tzeentch.
Doesn't mean he won't, either. That's the point of retconning the outcome and leaving it ambiguous.
