About Semblances, from what I understand, if we don't select any of the ones offered, it will develop on its own. In that case, how does one figure out what that Semblance will be? Will previous capabilities, like Nen, Appetite Energy, Hamon, or even Haki play a role in influencing it?

Pretty sure you just eventually develop your origins one anyway, buying it just gets you it first.

If you don't buy any of the origin-based semblances, you either develop the one attached to your origin, or you get Represent.

Represent's the big one to custom-make your own Semblance - just requires awakening and training other Aura-users until they awaken their own Semblance, and then observation so that Represent snags a few pieces of it.

Maybe this is me being a dick to say this but I kind of wish there were more semblances to choose from or perhaps a supplement that let you design your own. I also wish they were not capstones and cheaper since it seems almost everyone (possible slight exaggeration) already has developed their semblances by the time they reached beacon (which is a high school, keep in mind Ruby should be in middle school and has hers.) That said I understand that I guess not everyone has their semblances but those who don't usually are specializing in dust use.
I hope the person who made the jump doesn't think I am just bitching about it because honestly I would like to see more. I am not calling it bad or terrible by any means I just want more. I hope I don't sound like too much of an Ass for saying that.

You do start a year before cannon and a year before you would normally join Beacon, you have time to train yours up if you don't want to buy it.

As the other user said you do have a year to train them up and most jumpers have a few perks that increase how fast they learn new skills, so for most its not really an issue.
Also while making a new semblance sounds cool how they work and what their limits are were never really explained in detail so there is not much to go off of. People would abuse it and it would end in another "This perks lets me do whatever I want" shitstorm.

Team JNPR was at least partially based on historical figures and such.
Team CRDL was just bird themed.

JNPR's theme is that they're all based on characters from folklore or legend who crossdressed at some point. Jaune is Joan of Arc, Pyrrha is Achilles, Nora is Thor and Ren is Hua Mulan.

Yeah, but every character has a color name, except for those who are old enough to predate the Great War. Their names are all either their signature color (not necessarily an English word, though) or an object that is that color.

Well I just found the Color Naming Rule thing on the RWBY wiki, and need to apologize for talking out of my ass. I had no idea that was a thing. Jesus that's complicated. All the teams have at least two themes running at once.

The problem might be is that the way the jump is written and the perks are flavored you are pushing the slight implication of immoral activity into outright in your face compliance/participation.

There's a big difference between fictional imagination and basing a jump on real events in history that caused the real horrific deaths of millions and making you part of the actual people responsible. The fact that you can't tell what's wrong is more worrying then people doing bad things in their imagination.

It feels kinda lazy to just attach them to the surnames, but it's gonna take a while before I find the rules on Egyptian Names and how 'name-ify' (if such a word exists) words.

It's true that you might be able to get your semblance in a year of training but that would still put you behind almost everyone else; Still probably going to have to use this for some companions so I can't complain too much. It's not an ideal solution but it is a solution of sorts.
As for the some rules to design semblances being hard to do and possibly easily breakable, Well you are probably right. It's kind of sad though that we lose out on so much because "It will cause shitstorms". Truly this is why we can not have nice things.

Seriously, they're not wrong, this is /pol/ level material. If you want to keep it, fine, but it's going to need some heavy reworking. Also reprice your perks, these are badly done. You reduce costs, you don't multiply them.

The naming theme doesn't have to be an ironclad rule, most of the times you can get away with names that only sound colory. Besides, who names their kid Taiyang and then names another Yang? Or look at Junior, his color is in the surname, not the prenom.

Given that we still do not know much or anything on the spread and limits of Semblances (I threw my hands up at the Mirror Image clone guy), a supp wasn't in the works. This jump was made in S1-S2 break, and the Semblances made to mirror the casts.

It would take a lot more than eliminating the nazi party to avoid ww2, with how ww1 ended there wasn't much of a chance of avoiding it without dissolving germany as a nation entirely, and that would have just changed the way the war was fought.

Seriously, the WW2 jump we have is a WIP that I don't think is ever going to be finished; doing your own would be infinitely preferable to a jump about literally being Nazi's.

Yeah, with Platoon it accomplishes the whole "I want you to be a part of history" thing the guy wanted so I'm not seeing any reason for this jump and seeing many reasons against this jump.

Well, this jump reminds me of some of the criticisms I had for Uber (it's a comic about Nazi supersoldiers), like 'where are all the good germans', and 'now the only way to stop the Axis is with genocide'.
