First for Angron!

Are Tech Thralls mandatory for a Cybernetica list? If so, with what loadout?

personally i go all out: 20 man squad with reverent alchemy, carapace armour and induction charger. a pair of them backed up by a lac tech priests makes for a dead 'ard unit of objective cappers with ork shootas. and only 125 per unit to boot!

Would two 15 man squads with right of pure thought work as only objective grabbers? I run a lot of Automata, so only have 150 points to play arond with

What models have you worked on today /hhg/?

Am I allowed here if I only read the HH novels and am an Ameripoor who can't afford plastic marines?

Yes.

A predator annihilator.

The coolest predator, because legions don't get it.

working on my entrenched quad mortars

Gonna build my pair of BaC contemptors (as Corti) and little brother's boxnought in an hour or two.

Built one up into a dual fist Cortus a few days ago. Say what you will about the pose, those things are ridiculously easy to assemble.

/hhg/, I think I may have a problem. You see, I'm obsessed with running volkite calivers because they look so fucking good on marines and their rules kick ass. At the same time I also want some delicious plasma support squad shenanigans because energy weapons are my fetish. Therefore, would a RoW that enables volkite armed support squads to lose the support squad special rule and be run as compulsory troops be balanced in any way, or is my dream of running a very early crusade division/a division outfit with the contents of terra's/mars's sacred armories nothing but a bleak dream?

True, the pose is not bad per se, but I will repose one because having duplicate models that big irks me.

Try to talk with your opponent, due to the support squad's cost, I'd never say it is unbalanced.
Also, there are rites that allow you to run full volkite armies (bolt postols notwithstanding):
Pride of the Legion for any legion, just use terminators for mandatory troops
The Black Reaving for SoH (or Maloghurst)
Terror Assault for NL
Company of Bitter Iron for IH

eh, they arent that OP; the shorter range really stings against armies like SA and DG/IW who can out range you all day erry day. you would also need a disadvantage: maybe you cant take non-volkite SS,or something similar

Legally? No. Effectively? If you want to actually score objectives. As for loadout I would suggest 20 dudes with just revenant alchemistry, also induction chargers, and mitralocks are options. Costs 90-105 points and for the latter gives you 40 str 4 shred shots as overwatch. Not a scary unit by any measure but they can sit on objectives well and might be able to kill enough dudes with overwatch to prevent a charge.

Another option is to give them alchemistry, rite of pure thought, and heavy chainblades. Alchemistry gives them hatred and the chainblades make them strength 5. Not game breaking but for their cost they can do a good bit of damage and might survive an assault long enough for some cybernetica to swoop in and save them.

> chainblades make them strength 5
Hilariously, it makes them str 6 ap 4. put a beatstick magos in them, and you have a fucking nasty unit

seeing as 1d4chan is famously shit at advise: what are the recommended load outs for pic related?
photon thruster/grav seem pretty shit

That gave me an idea, World Eaters Crimson Path allied with Taghmata bringing 40 revenant alchemistry adsecularis backed up by Lacyraemarta techpriests and a Lachrimallus Magos Prime. World Eaters take Surlak. Unending waves of world eaters with some adsecularis to hold the home objectives. Pretty much army wide FnP 4+ with one World Eater blob having FnP 3+. Admech could offer some anti-tank options that wouldn't force the blobs to waste a turn killing tanks in the assault phase.

Any thoughts what would be a good setting for a Deathwatch game, set in the Heresy? I wouldn't want to drop my players into Issatvan, but I'd want to have a chance for them to pick a side and deal with the consequences.

They really are a difficult unit because they are slow and trade volume fire for per shot lethality over secutors. That being said two loadouts I find good are a unit filled with volkite culverins (preferred enemy is really useful for getting and taking advantage of deflagrate) and yes, photon thrusters for massed AP 2. The latter works best as an escort for a Myrmidax Archmagos Prime with dual photon thrusters. Gives you at minimum 10 AP 2 shots at BS 5, plus preferred enemy. When it comes to chewing through jetbikes, one wound terminators, and even marine blobs they can wreck face due to preferred enemy.

One loadout I like using that isn't good (mostly because it is expensive as hell) but is really fun is to get a full unit with conversion beamers. 10 strength 10 AP 1 (I think it is AP 1, that or AP 2) small blasts with preferred enemy pretty much erases any unit in a single shooting phase. Nice to put them up in a tall building or something so they can just laser entire squads to death from up to 72" away.

Sounds fun and fluffy, 10/10 would play against

Just watch out for tactical assault moons :^)

here
I've had an idea for a RoW along these lines for a bit, but I'd like some feedback/criticism to improve it as much as possible:

THE VAULTS OPEN
As the Warmaster's armies finally breach the sacred void of the Sol System, Rogal Dorn, under direct orders from the Emperor, cracks open the sealed tech vaults of the Imperial Palace and arms the loyalist defenders with some the most powerful weapons of war ever constructed by man. Meanwhile, in preparation for his Master's arrival, Fabricator-General Kelbor-Hal, under the tutelage of the dark chaplain Erebus, willingly breaks open the ancient armories of Mars and daemonically binds the weapons, once jealously guarded by the Mechanicum, completely and totally to Horus's will.

Special Rules:
All volkite and plasma weaponry upgrades for all units have their point cost reduced.
Tactical Support Squads can now take volkite chargers or calivers for free.
Tac Support Squads fully upgraded with volkite weapons lose the support squad rule and can be taken as compulsory scoring infantry choices.
(Loyalists only)
Tactical support squads fully upgraded with plasma guns can exchange them for Solaris-Pattern Plasma rifles for +10 per model. These plasma guns do not have the Gets Hot! special rule, as well as any other stats to reflect a superior plasma weapon.
(Traitors Only)
Standard Tactical Squads can now be outfit with with Daemon-bound volkite chargers/calivers for +2/+5 points per model, to represent the efforts of the Dark Mechanicum for the numerically superior traitor legions.

Linitations: (all legions)
Haven't thought this one through much, would like some suggestions for this as well.

Basically, lots of power armour marines throwing around a stupid amount of energy weapon fire

Thanks for the help anons, I'll look into these.

>everything is better and cheaper and there are no downsides

Hmm...

>but his golden axe turned the blow aside as they spun
Never pegged Magnus as an axe-man.

He didn't think of any is all. Besides the solaris plasma rifles would cost 225 points for 5 dudes, hardly OP by any measure.

As for downsides probably blah blah lost technology, blah blah daemons are dangerous, blah blah dug too deep. So the downsides should be this epic technology backfiring. Daemon weapons break free of their wielders and possess them, causing them to drop their all their wargear and gain +1 strength, special plasma weapons cause release dangerous doses of radiation causing the unit to be perpetually -1 T (which is massive when you are paying 45 points for 1 wound models with just a 3+).

Ahem

You know, Early Crusade's acces to volkite would be way easier to represent

>Earl E. Cruz Aide RoW

Effects:

Tactical Support Squads equipped with Volkite Charguers or Volkite Calivers lose the Support Squad rule.

Limitations:

Can't use any models equipped with any kind of Terminator armour
Any model with access to Terminator armour as part of their wargear options can instead buy Artificer armour with the Hardened armour rule for 10 pts per model. ICs can instead buy it for 15 pts
Legion Terminator squads are equipped with Artificer armour with the Hardened armour rule instead of their terminator armour.

So, turning them into 30k's Chaos sp-those things equivalents?

Or maybe 15/20 pts, dunno, play with the points cost.
And also remove anything specifiec to be late crusade, like Scorpius whirlwinds.

>causing the unit to be perpetually -1 T
Magos, these plasma weapons have 0% of blowing up, and they're man-portable!
>This is fantastic news! Praise the Omnissiah
There's just one small problem Magos
>What? Don't tell me they're heretical or some dumb shit?
No magos, they just... kind of... leakdeadlyradiationeverywhere
>That sucks. Deploy them anyway, shit's getting grim.

Maybe making it apply to both the unit, and anyone (bar Scyllax) in base contact with them (friend or foe)

>No Primarchs other than Horus
>Any legion other than SoH can buy a legion master upgrade for one Preator.
>+1 WS, A and W and an Iron Halo for 50? points.

>So, turning them into 30k's Chaos sp-those things equivalents?
Not really, more like possessed without weapons.

As in...40k possessed without weapons?

It's hard to imagine Horus without his Talon. It'd be even weirder to picture him without terminator armour.

I'm trying to imagine how would Cassian Dracos be ruleswise. Of all the legions I think only the Salamanders had its original Legion master meet the Primarch.

Yes, that is the whole point. Every time you shoot you risk your unit becoming practically useless. The plasma guns on the other hand are expensive as hell and make it so a bolter wounds you on a 3+.

Even Blanche's art has him using an axe. Also had him using a bolter. Make of that what you will. The axe probably doubles as a staff.
It burns. It's so alien it burns.

X legion's first master Amadeus DuCaine fought in power armour all the way to Isstvan V where he died in the void battle.

The BaC contemps do have some ugly ass mould lines on their legs thought.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=FW2KN7Tz89s
Theme song for the missing Primarchs and the legionaries of their legions.

There wasn't a deathwatch specifically yet, but if you want a multi-legion party you could have them be part of a longer range expedition fleet that has returned post Issatvan to find the imperium all fucked up, their own legion's loyalties split, and have to make decisions about what to do. You could even start it with some traditional xenos fighting for a few missions to build up comradely bonds, then return. The choices will have more impact that way.

Thats sad.

Also I thought Autek Mor was LM.

I would probably deny Horus too, I imagine part of this is actually unification of the Solar System shit. Plus there is the issue of balance between legions. As for the WS, A, and wounds boost praetor, it seems kind of like a light primarch because reasons. There is no reason early legions would have better officers than late legions.

My actual suggestions would be
>Replace all bolters with volkite chargers
>Replace all bolt pistols with volkite serpentas
>Can't take any form of terminator armour
>Can't take some late crusade vehicles
>Can't take primarchs

Aren't many changes but they are simple and fairly balanced. Little access to 2+, mass volkite weapons, lost a few vehicles and can't take primarchs.

He wasn't, but he's a first generation Storm walker too, along with Shadrak Meduson. They fought late Unification at Afriik and stuff.

You got your answer in the last thread you idiot.

More like a funky kopesh.

So what HH books would you recommend for literary snobs?
Preferably nothing involving Iron Warriors or Space Wolves.

Deathfire
Fallen Angels
Deliverance Lost

Thanks, man.

ADB is the best writer, from a literary standpoint (we're talking form over content here). Too bad all of his books are Chaos wanks.

I'm a huge CSMfag so this sits well with me.

You can't go wrong with the first three in the series.

Kek

So Justaerin are actually good now, right? I want to start a second army, and I love me some Horus. I also want to add some Reaver squads, what do decent/fun loadouts look like for them?

DID NOTHING WRONG

Justaerin are good, two wounds now and cheaper than they used to be. They also got a buff to shooting at close range.

Reavers are good with jump packs, because of the SoH sucker punch attack if you outnumber the enemy in combat. Give the Sarge a Fist and the rest of the squad some power axes.

You did good, son.

Mmm, where are these changes documented exactly? A new book? Downloadable on FW? My LA book says they're 1 wound.

The new red book, it got updated and came out a few months ago IIRC.

Don't listen to that dick. If you take unwieldy weapons you don't get your extra attacks. Take swords

That's only true if they're Specialist Weapons, not Unwieldy. Power Axes aren't SW, so a PA/Bolt Pistol will still get +1A.

>Don't listen to that dick. If you take unwieldy weapons you don't get your extra attacks.
Maybe you should read the rules properly, before you call someone a dick.

Ahh, okay. Thank you very much.
I was probably going to give them fists or dual claws. I'm not too worried about optimal loadouts, just what I think looks cool.

>Maybe you should read the rules properly, before you call someone a dick.
This is irony, take notes kids.

It does seem, however, that if they have a fist and a claw, or some combination of non unweildly/unweildly weapons, you can make your regular attacks, then one more at AP2

kek
True, as it doesn't specify a weapon. An attack is an attack. I could see this working with those Paragon + Fist praetors.

Konrad did nothing wrong.

The night haunter did, though.

Yes. He did.
He was cool as fuck but that doesn't exonerate him at all.

That's a perfect pic for Konrad Curze. If you only look at one half of the face, you see Konrad. If you look at the other half, that's Night Haunter right there.

40k Guardsmen because I am too poor for forgeworld glorious MKIII and have disgust towards plastic MKIV

But that's Typhon, man

Alpha Legion seem to have powerful shennanigans on paper, but they get rekt hard by more consistently powerful legions.

Any advice for some WAAC AL tactics/lists outside of 'infiltrate stuff'

Run a standard legion list. Use your imagination. Be a true Alpha.

...

Whats better: 10 Deathshroud in a Spartan or Typhon with 5 Deathshroud in a Spartan?

Typhon wears Catphractii where all his mates will be wearing Tartaros. End result is that nobody can run and nobody can Sweep, which thoroughly wastes a major part of the Deathshroud appeal.
Keep them pure, or give them an Artificer/Tartaros Praetor/Chaplain. None of this mixing Terminator bullshit though.
And you probably don't need 10.

Not the extra for two weapons retards, SoH don't get merciless fighters attacks if your weapons are unwieldy

Should I bother to give power scythes instead of power fists to my Death Guard tac sarges? Scythes strike before fists and axes, which is nice in challenges. Gotta give em a melta bomb if I go scythes thought.

> AP2, not unwieldy
> Challenge-monkey

Yes. Frankly they should get the Melta Bomb even when rolling with a Fist.

Scythe + melta bomb always.

>WAAC
But why?

>nobody can run and nobody can sweep
i know but couldnt I separate the Units when the leave the spartan and Charge separetely? Running wont be as big of a Problem as the spartan can take them anywhere they want

If you want scythes you should also give them artificer, depending on your meta, of course. It'd be silly if your dude got slain by a mere power sword

So be it, scythes it is then, looks like I've got some converting to do.

are you getting 3rd Party ones?

why melta always? surely the extra attacks with powerfist is better?

i could argue ppl have fun in their own hobby in their own way. But i won't.

I play mostly narrative/campaign, but i'd like a tournament option also.

not against av14

17 tacticals and a Forgelord.

Need more primer.

Need to throw out my OLD cans of primer.

Can units who can take a combi weapon take a combi Bolter? (thinking mainly of seekers)
