Tau confirmed

>mfw no space croissants

im the guy who posted the pic of the eldar ramming my space station a while back
now with more void combat strategy

I am sure we will eventually get it. They said the reception has been MUCH better than they expected, so I doubt they will pass up on the chance to add at least the most popular missing factions as DLC.

AI or player?
Because for some reason the AI seems to be incapable of playing eldar. They always swoop in for their strafing run - and then remain right next to my ships and eat the whole battery, going down in seconds

Yeah, the key to beating AI Eldar is to survive the initial pulsar bursts. After that, you're golden.

Still a bitch trying to chase down one of their ships to grab Data though.

the most amusing encounter I had with them so far was when they decided to fly right through my cruiser formation, taking fire from both sides

Fuck. Them.

ai, people are at least good enough not to ram into colonies. ive decided to level my skirmish fleets due to those elite challenges and am going to wait until the elo stuff is in MP before leveling that up. too many bad experiences going up against guys with all fully upgraded ships and getting my shit kicked in at level 1.

Question: Is fleet upkeep simply the repair costs from the latest battles, or does it increase the more ships you have in your fleet list/reserve?

It increases with the more ships you have.

>Steam discussion forum.

>Alfrid threads.

you know, if they didnt put missions in other than cruiser clash/space station assault I would have complained over the lack of variety
but now that im playing the game I really only have fun with those missions

I never had space station assault.

they seem really rare. they're pretty unbalanced in general but its some of the most fun ive had, the space stations are really great looking.

They are pure shit

I had one in the campaign. It was against the 700 point Eldar. I lost half my fleet.

The defender gets a giant space station to defend, that has guns and launch bays aplenty. The attacker gets 700pts worth of stuff to kill it with. Interesting in theory, in practice incredibly hard to balance.

How many points should the defender get? It started at half the attacker, and attacker always won. Then it was the same as the attacker, and defender always won. Now it's 600, but they reduced the probability of rolling it so much that hardly anyone has played it. So we don't even know any more.

Playing it 2v2 with four friends in a custom game sounds like it would be the most fun ever. But that's a long way off.

>tfw I ignore the campaign, I am really not interested, just play the first 3 tutorial missions.
>tfw I jump straight to multi 2v2, first as eldar, thinking that they should be deceptively easy.
>I mean, how hard can be microing 2 ships at most!
>Get FUCKED. I get faced vs lvls 2 to 5.
>tfw I try orks.
>tfw same happens, just my ship doesn't go up in flames, instead, it fucks off to warp because lol orks.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG.

You need squigs

At least one guy on Steam knows what's up.

I tried to get the chained squig, but I couldn't put points into it. Besides. How fucking fair it is to put me up against levels 2 to 5 for my first time, jesus christ.

Don't play eldar, they are for fags who need to win. Orks is the most fun

Man up, come on son most player a pretty shit.

nice cropping.
its an upgrade. and also there is no elo system in the game yet, so prepare to get assraped by high level experienced players until they put it in within a few weeks. and no, eldar arent deceptively easy.

user, I am a hip dude. I can have fun by winning or when something incredible happens. Or both, whether I win or not when the latter condition is met doesn't matter.

But fuck man, lvl 5 ships ain't cool with a newbie like me.

I'll admit I only played like 10 MP games so far, but I don't remember encountering a player significantly higher than me before.

Though now that I think about it, there was one Ork who fucked my cruisers before I even knew what was going on.

Death to all blueberry commie fucks

>Playing as the imperial navy
>Against chaos
>Cruiser clash
>Chaos player is breddy nice, we chat rather friendly like the entire game
>Notify each other of bugs occuring like...
>"My probe wore off already but i can still see your ship. Weird"
>Try to get his cruiser
>He moves his light cruisers to cover it
>He has 3 LC's with fighters and one cruiser with fighters
>I have a single Mars class battlecruiser and whatever is left of those 500 points is spent on swords
>Anyways, as he moves his LC's to sacrifice themselves to buy cruiser enough time to flee the game starts acting up again
>First i lose control of my ships, as in im unable to select them
>Notify him of this, he just replies that "that's weird"
>Notify him in few seconds that i got them to work again as i tried pressing the upper left corner icons of my ships
>As i get my ships under my control again his ships freeze temporarily
>Send an attack order and wonder why he isn't moving even though i have set a stasis bomb on top of his LC's
>Game freezes
>FATAL ERROR
>Game crashes

And thus ended my fight with a rather cool chaos player.
There is no justice in this world

Now wait till you both log back in and find out that the game decided to destroy your whole fleet!

>Destroy a battleship.
>Alfrid Lickspittle takes the credit for it.
>Enemy team is so angry they play along with it to piss on Eldars.

>they are for fags who need to win.
Nigger I play guardsmen on the 40k tabletop, but Eldar in the battlefleets, winning is not an option. Stupid shit and fun are.

>It's an Alfrid game...

this just happend to me in a solo skirmish game
>launch torps at an eldar battlecruiser
>it boosts foward and dodges them
>does a u turn and starts heading to another of my ships
>flies into the torpedos path
>gets hit by every one
i guess i just dont understand void combat strategy

>Alfrid spawns his ships behind you.
>They are all torpedo ships.

Who the fuck is this guy and why is he such a shit? I got stuck with him as an ally yesterday and all he did was sit in the corner of our starting area calling out my ships and positions to the enemy.

Read the steam discussion threads...

That reminds me of some of the idiots who play wargame

So he's a shitty troll. Great. If I ever match with him as an ally I'm going to ram Cobras up his ass.

I'm trying to git gud at this game and I keep getting matched with shitters like him or Eldar players that broadside enemies.

this is why im waiting for multiplayer elo

HomeworldAnon here, with the second draft of Kiith Somtaaw. As before, anyone interested is welcome to take a look and I would appreciate criticism and suggestions. Pick it apart so I can make it better.

-Revised Multibeam Frigate into a support vessel
-Hive Frigate changes
-Minion made less confusing
-Rebalanced Archangel
-General cleaning up

Is there any way to get better at planetary assault? Right now it just feels like a case of whether or not the game wants me to win.

Also battleships seem entirely not worth it.

It's all part of the plan, ignorant mon-keigh.

>Shoot all my torpedoes in gas cloud.
>See them all explode.
>Enemy has capitulated.

>capitulating after just one salvo
what a pussy

Retribution is pretty neat, as it can keep up with cruisers when upgraded and melts anything foolish enough to get in front of it or less than 9k from its broadside.

Planetary assault practically requires, IMO, the use of Silent Running on a fast-moving element in your fleet - keep a light cruiser or two kitted out with faster movement and increased turning, and set them on silent running. Beeline for the nearest nebula and chill till a circle pops up.

Not always feasible in smaller point games, but having something the enemy doesn't know about to dart out and plonk down in the circle is incredibly useful.

What upgrades and skills work best?

>Opponent goes into the game: gl&hf
>annihilated by glorious goff ramming
>leaves the game: gg asshole
What makes a man so salty?

Turn speed, AP macros, cogitator link, and a defensive or engine upgrade of choice.
For skills take MWJ, gauge refill, shield recharge, and taunt.
Tactics? Drive it up to the biggest enemy ship with your riced engines while firing torpedoes at and ramming anything that gets in the way, proceed to watch heretics explode.

being penetrated by a mighty spear

Turn speed, targetting matrix, AP amo, voss shields. Other good stuff are fast-burn torps, shield regen, the power ram and belt armor.

>trying to destroy the first blackstone fortress before it warps away
Fuck everything, I'm on my third attempt now.

Voss shields OP, pls nerf

Melta Torpedoes.

The thing with voss shields is they get better the more basic shield strenght and other shield upgrades you have. They're kinda meh on light cruisers and escorts, but ludicrous on battleships especially if you add the extra shield generator, extra regen and/or shield regen skill.

Getting to the circles isn't the problem. That's simple. It's when a circle pops down on the enemy's side and their light cruisers just dart over for it with no effort, just a 180 away to avoid being stalled by the stasis bomb or taunt and it's impossible to stop them.

How do I make my dominator class imperial cruiser less shitty?

Because so far light cruisers are the best option for 300 pt games.

My Retribution has both Shield regen and the hability to increase even more Shield Regen, so with Voss Shields, AP ammo and targeting array is a bloody beast. Problem is, that Retri is in my campaing and i need to redo "The Shield of Tarantis" on multiplayer

I've been playing solo skirmish matches for a while to prepare myself for playing online, but when I went online I think I had to create a whole new admiral, thus resetting all of my upgrades. Is that supposed to happen? Like, a separate account for online and offline?

You throw that bitch away and take a Lunar and a Tyrant.

Lunar is so good that I bought three of them

lmao

happened to me in the beta, 'cept i got to keep my level 5 admiral for the transition to the launch. i even deleted it myself and it's still there. :^)

Shiiet I'm about to. It's just one big floating junk pile against Chaos ships.

It's not damaging it that's a problem, it's just that I'm not able to keep it from warping away with a tiny amount of health left.

It seems there's a bug since last update that count any ship that warp out as destroyed, not that I'm complaining since it's always more renown for me.
There's also a bug during the PK assault on the webway gate where you gain negative renown, my guess is that you have so many ships on your side, game goes into overflow.
There's a bug in the space hulk mission where the camera stay locked on the x-axis.
Still managed to destroy the space hulk and only lost one ship.

Tyrant if you want to ram people.
Lunar for a jack of all trade.
Gothic for support.
For 300 point game I usually take Tyrant+Gothic but the Gothic and the Lunar are basically interchangeable IMO.

You're not supposed to destroy it, it turn invincible and warps away anyway.

Fuck.
That means I've been savescumming this for nothing.

...

Yes, you have a separate account for multiplayer and AI skirmishes.

You are not supposed to kill it.
t: got it to -19 health

That kind of sucks. The game has been pretty good about making the outcome of your battles batter so far, win or loss, so I didn't expect this.

i think it's there just so that you have some semblance of a final boss/endgame instead of a curbstomp if you win every mission

Yeah you can't lorebreak and blow up the planet killer or blackstone fortresses. Best you can do is stop the 13th Black Crusade by getting the Eye of Night/Hand of Darkness.

Gee admiral why does your sector command let you have three lunars

>-Revised Multibeam Frigate into a support vessel
Seems a tad too specialised at this point.

>-Hive Frigate changes
Could be a bit cheap. Can't really say without playing it.

>Tug
Still wouldn't want to bring this desu.

>Dreadnaught
Doesn't seem to offer much over bringing 2 destroyers.

Is the ramming prow on my tyrant worth it? It seems more worthwhile to get extra shields and the AP ammo, considering ramming is pretty situational

Ramming is fantastic on Convoy Attacks.

If ramming for you is situational you're not THE IMPERIAL NAVY

>ramming is pretty situational
>not turning every situation into a ramming

I'm terrible at this game and ramming + the auto AI are the only reason I've managed to finish the campaign.

>Tau are coming

youtube.com/watch?v=3GwjfUFyY6M

Is there a reason to put any cruiser but the carnage in your cruiser slot? The rest look meh in comparison

Is there a feeling better than the one you get when you ram an enemy with two ships, each from opposite sides?

I don't think there is.

I like the Slaughter class cruiser.

I think it's neat too but its useless vs knife ears from the looks of it

P-please let me know what you think of my Slaaneshi fleet, any changes, critiques, etc.

And here is the rest of the fleet

Neato names Slaanesh is worse god

I wish Slaaneshi ship weren't so ugly.
Cool names btw.

You picked some neato names for them.
Too bad its just like the anons above me said and Slaaneshi ships look shite.

Has anyone tried the hades out? is it good?

>Lance of Longinus

In last thread i heard some user call it shit.
Dunno much about it though, what sorta weapons does it have?
IN player here so i have little to no idea what the heretic ships got.

>Macros
>useless against Eldar

Didn't try it but it's loadout looks terrible.

bfgawiki.com/wiki/Hades_Class_Battle_Cruiser
Heavy Prow Lance (Chaos)
Lance Turret (Chaos) x 2
Macro-Battery (Chaos) x 4

Should I get this game? I do have some extra money saved up for it but I can't decide whether or not it is worth it.
