Kantai Collection of Blue Steel Quest

The year is 2040
Humanity was crushed by the Fleet of Fog, and can't risk losing the firepower they still have left.
They had to watch as their navies were all destroyed by ships that brought them hope and victories long ago.
But now, they can see these ships in a new light...

This is my first time running a quest, and I'm taking heavy inspiration from MercCommand. I'm stealing his Fate Point system, since I like how it works.

Your open your eyes, and your brain is filled with details that you have never seen before.
You smell the salt off of the waves, and you feel...

The heat of a nearby explosion?

You look towards its source, and see a ship flying the Stars and Stripes sinking beneath the waves.

You feel a pang of anger, as you see what caused the American vessel to sink.

It's a dark grey, Alaska class Battlecruiser, covered in bright tribal markings.

You instinctively ready yourself to defend any survivors from the sunken ship.

After all, you are...

>The largest and most versatile American Submarine until the Cold War

>A Destroyer who bombarded many shores, and served two wars before working for Brazil

>A Heavy Cruiser who fought like no other during the Battle of Sunda Strait

>A Battleship who once fired 2243 Anti-Air rounds per minute during an 8 minute attack, much to the dismay of a cutting board

>The largest and most versatile American Submarine until the Cold War
Somebody has to get you off the ground.

Probably a better idea running this on /qst/.

>>A Battleship who once fired 2243 Anti-Air rounds per minute during an 8 minute attack, much to the dismay of a cutting board

I might if this thread dies, and if there's an archive up for /qst/

>>The largest and most versatile American Submarine until the Cold War

...

Just run here man. /qst/ is dead in the water.

The first time I saw /qst/, it was full of /b/-type CYOA and shitposting.

If the mods will it, they can move this thread to /qst/, but only if it graduates from being a trial board.

>>A Battleship who once fired 2243 Anti-Air rounds per minute during an 8 minute attack, much to the dismay of a cutting board

>A Battleship who once fired 2243 Anti-Air rounds per minute during an 8 minute attack, much to the dismay of a cutting board

Since planefag's KCQ is probably dead after the last shitfest...

>>A Heavy Cruiser who fought like no other during the Battle of Sunda Strait

In 10 minutes I'll cut off voting

I have a twitter that I should keep you up-to-date on If I remember to my quest schedule changing or not being able to run.

Whoops, I forgot the link

>A Destroyer who bombarded many shores, and served two wars before working for Brazil

Hue.

>A Battleship who once fired 2243 Anti-Air rounds per minute during an 8 minute attack, much to the dismay of a cutting board

You are the Battleship USS North Carolina, and you would not stand for the sinking of any ship flying the American Flag!
You charge towards the Alaska class Battlecruiser, and it appears that it hasn't spotted you yet, and its guard is down...
>Open fire
>Attempt to board
>Other/Write-In

forgot your trips.

>Attempt to board

I forgot my trip, that is in fact me

>Open fire

Yippy kay-yay motherfuckers

>>Open fire
I always wanted to say: "FIRE MAIN GUNS!"

>Open fire

You aim your 16-inchers skywards, and fire, with the intent of penetrating the deck of the Alaska class.

>roll 1d20

Rolled 15 (1d20)

STATEMENT OF ANGRY INTENT!

Rolled 10 (1d20)

Your shells penetrate the Alaska's deck, damaging its engines, and forcing it to stay in place. Her #3 turret is also out of commission.
The Alaska's remaining guns turn towards you, and a red glare is slowly growing on the Alaska...

>Keep Firing, move at full speed
>EVASIVE MANEUVERS
>RUN AWAY
Roll 1d20 with your vote

Rolled 4 (1d20)

>EVASIVE MANEUVERS

STATEMENT PROCLAIMING THAT WE WILL NEVER FALL TO ENEMY FIRE!

>>EVASIVE MANEUVERS

Rolled 5 (1d20)

>Keep Firing, move at full speed

Rolled 18 (1d20)

Forgot to roll

Rolled 16 (1d20)

>EVASIVE MANEUVERS

You prepare to dodge, and suddenly several red beams of light come out of the Alaska's 12-inchers, all hitting the water around you. You take potshots, but only 2 manage to penetrate the armor, and have little effect on the Battlecruiser.

A torpedo whooshes by you, almost knocking you off your feet. It hits the Alaska, right before it's covered completely in a hexagonal pattern, and explodes into a hexagonal sphere which tears a massive hole in the Alaska's hull.

As the Alaska sinks to the bottom, you look towards the source of the torpedo, and see a girl surface...

You then realize that you are a ship in a human body, and that she is as well.

"You must be North Carolina," she says, noting your hull number. "Welcome back. I'm the USS Argonaut, and you can thank me for saving your ass."

I'm not a drawfag. Until I find one to enslave, I can only get images rom the internet and sometimes edit them badly. Sorryy about muh QUALITY.

>T-thank you
>I could've handled it without any help
>Other/Write-In

>I could've handled it without any help

No you fucking sunken sluts GIVE HER BACK

>I could've handled it without any help

>>I could've handled it without any help

>>I could've handled it without any help

"I could've handled it without any help," you gloat.

"Look at when she did to your rig. You would've lost if I didn't intervene."

You take a look over your shoulder, and see a blackened crater on the edge of your rig, from the grazing hit you took minutes before. If it were a direct hit, your engine may have been taken out, if not worse.

"You're the fourth Shipgirl to show up, and war has changed.. Follow me back to base, and we'll debrief you."

You arrive at Naval Base San Diego, or NBSD, in about an hour, with no trouble or ships attacking.

You are led to the Admiral's office by Argonaut, and she knocks on the door. The Admiral can be heard saying "Come in."

You enter the Office, and the Admiral is...

>Young and new to the job
>Old and experienced
>Always looks like he's seen some shit

>>Young and new to the job
More fun to mess around with.

>Old and experienced

>>Always looks like he's seen some shit

In 7-8 minutes I'll roll 1d3 if this goes without a winning vote.

Rolled 1 (1d3)

Rolled 3 (1d3)

fug

lemme try that again

I may or may not lurk more quests then I post in

Whelp... I'm retarded, and I forgot to update the thread. I'm going with the first roll, for Young and new to the job.
The Admiral greats you shyly, trying to avoid looking at your rather large chest.

You can tell that he's new to the job.

He explains what happened two years ago, how the Fleet of Fog appeared out of nowhere, and crushed 90% of the world's navies, isolated the world, how their guns fire condensed gravitational waves, and their torpedoes create spacial anomalies and erase matter.

He then explains how Shipgirls work, and that fairies are the only thing other then the Fleet of Fog capable of creating Corrosive Torpedoes, with some help.

You are offered two initial upgrades to make combat against the fog possible, as two is all your fairies are able to handle at this point in time.

>PICK TWO

>Super-Graviton Cannon: Freezes enemy ships it place, in a line when firing, but you must stop moving as well, before firing a beam powerful enough to destroy the smaller Battleships or anything smaller in one direct hit. Can only be used once during a battle, and make it count.

>Corrosive Torpedo/Missile Bullet Hell: An ungodly amount of Corrosive warheads that can be fired at such a high density that an enemy will have no choice but to destroy, unless their Klein Field is loaded up fully. You can let out 2 barrages per battle, or use a half barrage.

>Klein Field: The Ultimate Defense. On a Capital Ship, it is said to be capable of stopping a nuclear warhead. It can get oversaturated, and it can only take a few Corrosive Warhead hits, and can only stop a Super-Graviton Cannon if you get lucky.

>Photon Cannons: Your main batteries, as well as secondaries and AA fire condensed gravitational waves capable at destroying Corrosive Warheads in the air or water, easily dealing damage to lighter ships with the Klein Field raised, and quickly saturating stronger Klein Fields.

>>Klein Field: The Ultimate Defense. On a Capital Ship, it is said to be capable of stopping a nuclear warhead. It can get oversaturated, and it can only take a few Corrosive Warhead hits, and can only stop a Super-Graviton Cannon if you get lucky.

Pick 2, my dude

>Klein Field
>Photon Cannons

As much as I want to Itano circus some motherfuckers, the cannons will be more useful.

You decide on the Klein Field and Photon Cannons. The fairies in your rig get to work right away, with help from the engineers on base.

Argonaut, or Argy, as she prefers to be called, shows you around and takes you to where the other Shipgirls on base are. You meet Houston, a Heavy Cruiser who has trouble sleeping due to a night battle 98 years ago, where she was ganged up on by 2 Japanese Heavy Cruisers and a Destroyer. You also meet Hailey, a Destroyer who bombarded many beaches, and then worked for the Brazilians.

She doesn't like talking about it though.

She's seen some crazy shit.

>That's it for tonight. If you have any questions post them here, or send them to me at
twitter.com/BoatKunQM
>And I'll try to answer them
>I'll also post fluff on the twitter, if anyone is interested

ALSO
>I'm looking for somebody to help with art, and I'd be more then happy if someone can help me contact the great Pixel
>I can't into art

Thanks for the run.

Carnival when?

See you next time.

Will we be seeing canon characters from Arpeggio of Blue Steel?

I may or may not be writing this as we go along and that may be a cause of 1 hour waiting times

I'll include that as an option when we complete a major battle in the future. I'll probably include a doubling in speed, some gimmicky Myoko type of weapon and the graviton cannon again.

I don't think hat canon Arpeggio characters will be used.

I might make use of Lexington, if any canon character, because it wouldn't make sense for Japanese or German ships to be patrolling outside of their own areas when they don't have any human crew.

As such any ship used will be American, Canadian, or Mexican, if thats a thing. Lemme look that up. Nope, not anything post-1919, as far as Wikipedia shows.

There also PROBABLY won't be any abyssals to waifu

So try to waifu whatever Shipgirl you want, or even the Admiral, using write-ins.

I will likely add more Shipgirls to the quest as time goes on, but for now, considering how I'm a complete and utter novice to running a quest, one might say that there's not enough seamen to control more :^)
