Was systematically sabotaging all of my personal relationships and genuinely unhappy, though. Surprised I didn't work up the nerve to kill myself during that time. I feel like over a decade of my life is gone in a time warp that I barely remember and will never get back.

3 weeks of sobriety is a fucking joke. That's just long enough to get over your last bender. Talk to me in 3 years when you've proven that you've actually given up the booze. Can't even tell you how many times my alky friends have said "durr, it's furreal this time, like, seriously I'm done." They usually say this after a really bad bender. They stay sober for a few weeks at best then they're right back at it.
