Hey Veeky Forums, ever stop and think about how you'd had the foresight to buy a bunch of BTC in 2011 you'd be a multi-millionaire?
The dot-com boom was the fist opportunity like that, crpyto is the current one. What's the next one you ask?
It's going to be asteroid mining. Now, it won't happen for a long-ass time yet. Think two decades minimum. If you're young like be though you can wait for it, and anticipate it. You can act at the perfect time, and buy in to something that will make crypto look like a drop of water.
Asteroid mining will change everything. Be ready.

I knew going in this thread would either be a meaningful discussion or a retard-fest.
I was prepared for either outcome.
Tyler Myers
I'd like this to happen, but how do you think people would profit from this? All the companies will be getting the resources and selling them, how does the average normie get a piece of it like they are with crypto?
Caleb Evans
space as an industry wont work unless there at a tonne of humans on the moon or mars. And at the rate we are going that wont happen anytime soon
Leo Perry
also, if we ever figure out how to do matrix style brain interface, people wont give a shit about space. Who cares about a barren rock called mars, when you could matrix yourself having 10 chicks blowing you everysingle day
Robert Anderson
Being able to build in space allows for solar panels to be built in space to generate more electricity.
In your matrix world, the only thing limiting your imagination is electricity. Electricity and raw materials to build more computing power.
Where do you think you can get a damn near unlimited supply of both those thing?

how much money is it going to take to send 1,000,000 humans to mars or moon just to a colony up and ready, not to mention the medical issues from low gravity which we dont know of yet. Am a space enthusiast but even ive come to realise space exploration is just a dream unless we develop anti gravity technology capable sending an entire cargo ship size object into space cheaply it aint happening
Hunter Sanchez
How can (((space))) be real? What kind of evidence do YOU have that it is?
Robert Rogers
you couldnt buy bitcoin in 2011, there were no exchanges you could only mine and exchange them for goods and services. having bitcoin meant you were either a good provider of those or supported the network through mining
exchanges ruined bitcoin

Decentralized asteroid mining

We haven't even started mining ocean floor properly. Space mining is still centuries away as there's no need for it.

In 20 years the USA will be neo-Brazil and western Europe an afro-muslim slum.

I've honestly asked this myself. I have no doubt that this is coming. But early investing could be risky. Just look at the energy sector. Many solar and wind companies blew up because they came into an underdeveloped market too early. Many people put bets on the wrong horses.
Dominic Ward
>when you actually fall for space propaganda >bubbles in space? >sorry to burst your "bubble" >space isn't real
Nolan Scott
Early investing is risky..., like crypto was in 2011?
Obviously don't invest now. That's like buying e-gold.
Brody Russell
This. We are more likely to be living in hell than mining asteroids in 20 years. Either everything will have collapsed so bad that billions have died or it will just be a further slow descent into the dystopia we are already in the early stages of.

Just because you live in a shitty trailer park doesn't mean that mankind is seeing the biggest poverty reduction in human history. In 20 years Africa will be at the economic level of current India. India will be at the level of current China. So many new markets and opportunities. I can't fathom how people are so pessimistic.
Isaiah Roberts
.All of this bullshit is based on speculation that completely disregards the cost of leaving and entering Earth's gravity well.

>speeding billions to go mine an astoriod just to bring shit back and crashing the market, making what you mine worthless.

>Being this retarded.
These materials are expensive because they are desperately needed by all industries. When the price for materials goes down then production and innovation costs go down as well. If you can't figure out what that means then good luck in life, brainlet.

It won't happen until Empire building and imperialism come back into fashion, which will require a serious rethinking of our political and moral views
So long as this maternal attitude prevails (largely due to the west currently) we will continue to focus inwards rather than outwards.
When you look at history you realise those massive costly expanses in empires were made by men with power, money and ambition, not democractic nations nor women having a say. Without that culture space expansion will never be supported by enough of the public.

I cjant efen facking read whait yo maen, OP. pls mke new post

I think that speaks to how difficult the deep ocean environment and obstacles are, rather than where we are with space.
Once you are out of the atmosphere space is easy, the ocean only gets harder and harder the deeper you dive
So your answer is for companies to take billion dollar loses in the hopes what they mine eventually makes it cheap enough to make a profit?
I simply don't see this happening. The actual minerals aren't that expensive, it's the processing and developing. Remember this isn't a new product, they can't charge top dollar initially to fund development, it has to be profitable from the get go

true, but that requires the end of democracies. There is a reason why colonization and expansion happened only with monarchies which are bascially benevolent dictators. And has crawled to a snails pace since that era is finished. It will take one person or family who has access to an entire nations coffers to lay down the path for an interplanetary empire. DUNE style Again, thats why i dont see it happening. While i love capitalism, capitalism is still a quasi democracy and it will not permit space exploration because of huge sunk costs involved. No set of shareholder is going to agree to a company financing a 200billion dollar lunar outpost even if it means they and their childrens childrens childrens will be trillionaires. IF apple has a missed or penny lower earnings for one year, they go ape shit crazy

Dude you read that long neural link article? I totally agree perfected virtual reality via a BMI is the future. Maybe even use the heat generated from our bodies like the matrix why not. But space is extremely resource intensive.
What we can agree on is technology is advancing faster than ever and the rate of growth is increasing. Keep your eye on space
