Recently: You're battling the fourth and final Elite Four member, Geno. Aria hurt her voice from pushing too hard.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear vote winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever! This is not a video game.

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

Badges: 10

Pokemon on you:
Zappy Dan (Magnezone)
Destiny (Kingdra) - Fighting
Fel (Butterfree)
Oberon (Garchomp)
Nibbles (Tyrantrum)
Aria (Meloetta) - KO

Not In Party:
Raistlin (Alakazam)
Devon (Houndoom)
Trunks (Trevenant)
Vlad (Crobat)
Leviathan (Gyarados)

This is a nice quest.

Destiny is out and doing great. She just gracefully dodged the opposing Dragonite's Thunder Wave.

Your inner doubt, Dark Kat, has surfaced. But screw her! You won't let your self-doubt trip you up. You owe it to your Pokemon not to let that happen

You do a quick mental checklist to regain our focus.

Ancalagon (Garchomp) - Out
Saphira (Dragonite) - Damaged
Desghidorah (Noivern) - Out
Rhaegal (Salamence)
Fin Fang Foom (Tyrantrum)
Shenron (Flygon)
Altaria (Altaria)

The only Pokemon of yours to suffer a knockout is Aria.

The arena is balanced. There are a few small ponds here and there, two remaining small bushy and tree-filled areas that are good for hiding in, and two rocky areas near each battler.

Destiny is in the pond that has a covering of leafs. If she were to dive, she’d have visual cover.

That Dragonite seems to be pretty beefy. Like all of Geno’s Pokemon, it’s also very fast and excellent at landing critical hits.

>Smokescreen, lower its accuracy
>Bubble, you might lower its speed
>Outrage, out dragon the dragon master
>Scald, you can burn it!
>Signal Beam, a confuse chance
>Ice Beam, it’s the most effective move ehre
>Rain Dance, great for Swift Swim
>Hydro Pump, try to knock it from the air
>Dragon Pulse! Freeze it out of the sky!
>Agility, get really, really fast
>Hide in the water and use Shell Smash. Pump offensive power at the expense of defence
>Whirlpool, trap it.
>Something else

>Ice Beam, it’s the most effective move here

Wanted to say thanks and good on you, Gobble. Have fun finishing the quest. Love ya.

>Ice Beam, it’s the most effective move ehre
I heard rumors of thread!

>>Ice Beam, it’s the most effective move ehre

>Ice Beam, it’s the most effective move here

Ice beam, ice beam, we all scream for ice beam

>Smokescreen, lower its accuracy
Hope you're doing OK, gobble.

>Smokescreen, lower its accuracy

[Thanks!

Roll 'em!]

It was 6v6, right? Wonder which pokemon he won't use...assuming he doesn't pull out another surprise pokemon of course, in which case it'd be more than one.

Rolled 85 (1d100)

Rolled 48 (1d100)

C'Mon dice gods!

Rolled 92 (1d100)

Rolled 100 (1d100)

[I forgot]

You gonna roll Gobble?

Oh hey-
Fuck.
Well atleast we tried to freeze him.

Destiny da bes-

Gobble...Gobble pls...

...

Where's the dodge roll?

Well shit, sorry I asked.

We still get our evasion roll, r-right?

Do we also roll to dodge?

[Destiny still has a dodge roll. Let me have it!]

Rolled 9 (1d10)

Rolled 1 (1d10)

May dice gods have mercy

Rip Destiny.

We don't have crit fails on evasion.

Rolled 4 (1d10)

You're my favorite user on the citad- uh, board.

Ok, I think we're good, the pastebin said dodge on an 8+.

Wonder if we fully avoided the impact of a 100 roll just by successfully dodging. It makes some sense but at the same time I know we'd be salty as fuck if the roles were switched here, haha.

We also have the crit negation training. So it will probably be a normal hit or something along those lines.

Should also point out Ice Beam has a 10% freeze chance...

Oh, that's right. Can't freeze 'em all I guess?

Yeah, but with 3 dice the probability tables go up, I think we need a 94 to crit.

A 92 is still pretty good, but I get what you mean.

“Ice Beam! Let them have it!” Destiny jumps at the command.

But Geno interjects. He’s done playing around. “Destroy everything! Draco Meteor!” He looks to you and Destiny. It’s not an angry glare, but the look of a predator that’s found a competitor instead of just more prey. “There’s no avoiding this!“

A rushing sound comes from above. The sky darkens, but there aren’t really any clouds. Meteors swarm down and start smashing into the arena. Crashes and explosions light up the field and you quickly lose sight of Destiny. Dozens of Mr.Mimes do their best with barriers to contain it.

You hear the announcers hyping the audience.

The arena turns into a flashing nightmare of purple and red. The explosions press against the barriers like window panes. Geno loses his composure just a bit as he encourages Saphira to keep it going.

Finally, after what feels like an eternity, the cosmic dragon storm dies down.

Geno and his Dragonite smirk almost in sync. “I’m sorry Kat, but-”

A beam pierces through the clouds of dust and hits Saphira dead on, coating it in ice. It comes crashing down ungracefully.

“What!”

“Unbelievable, Chip! This is unbelievable!”

A gust of wind whips away the obscuring clouds. Destiny sits on the edge of one of many craters. Saphira struggles to move in it’s icey container.

Destiny breathes heavily, exhausted. She must have been moving like crazy. She looks entirely untouched from the attack.

(continued)

“Good job, Destiny!”

A single bubble is all she can manage, but she smiles.

The arena is a mess of craters and impact areas. The grassy areas and ponds and some rocks have amalgamated into a muddy sludge in several places, including a large pit in the center.

“Saphira! We’ve trained for this! Remember!” It looks badly hurt. You’re impressed that it’s sticking it out.

>Outrage, don’t give it a chance!
>Scald, melt it out and KO
>Signal Beam, a light tap knockout
>Ice Beam, finish it with another special attack
>Rain Dance, great for Swift Swim
>Hydro Pump, pump it off the arena floor
>Dragon Pulse!
>Agility, get really, really fast
>Shell Smash. Increase speed and offensive power at the expense of defence
>Whirlpool, trap it
>Something else

>>Outrage, don’t give it a chance!

>Agility, get really, really fast

>Shell Smash. Increase speed and offensive power at the expense of defence

>Shell Smash. Increase speed and offensive power at the expense of defence

>Agility, get really, really fast

>Scald, melt it out and KO
Bestiny after all, that was pretty sick.

>>Shell Smash. Increase speed and offensive power at the expense of defence

>Agility, get really, really fast

>Agility, get really, really fast
More dodging!

>>Shell Smash. Increase speed and offensive power at the expense of defence

[Tight. Let's do a quote-only vote to be sure.

Will you pump Destiny's speed, or use Shell Smash to increase her speed, attack, and special attack at the expense of her defence and special defence?]

>agility
>shell

>shell

>shell

>agility

>shell

>shell

>shell

>shell

>agility

>>>qst is LITERALLY made for this.

Rolled 68, 88 = 156 (2d100)

[Dice dice dice!]

Rolled 98 (1d100)

Rolled 82 (1d100)

desu

Geno and Saphira are rolling well, Destiny bringing her a-game though.

Rolled 80 (1d100)

Good to be here for a thread again.

Sorry to here about the break up.

Rolled 31 (1d100)

DICE!

What the hell does a crit shell smash even look like? Instant max'd stats or something?

Who knows. Don't we need a 100 for crit though?

So which new starter is your favorite so far Gobble

Crits are 95+ I'm pretty sure.

Personally I prefer the Fire one but I'm pretty meh on all of them. Nothing horrendous but definitely nothing great.

94+, we missed it by one last thread which led to Aria getting hurt.

That was actually because of the 1 we rolled.

I like the Owl personally

Rowlet is best Gen 7 starter.

No dodge roll apparently so I guess Saphira didn't manage an attack at least.

Or maybe a crit was an auto evade?

Usually our roll for a move and our opponent's roll for a move are strictly separate though. Except if one pokemon is KO'd sometimes.

My point was that we would have scored the KO early and wouldn't have been in that situation if we'd gotten the crit then.

Rolled 1 (1d10)

Rolling for DODGE

Saphira struggles against the ice. It cracks and creaks, but she’s not out quite yet.

“Destiny! Shell Smash!”

Destiny pushes aside her exhaustion and uses Shell Smash. You’re no expert on these types of moves, but you can tell from watching her that she’s gotten a good groove going with it. She’ll be faster and stronger than ever!

You just need to make sure she doesn’t get hit.

Saphira’s ice starts sliding into the muck by a few inches.

Geno narrows his eyes. He’s considering something. Or planning something. Either way, you don’t like that look.

>Shell Smash again! Push it to the limit!
>Have Destiny catch her breath for a second
>Outrage! Destroy it!
>Bubble. Light tap it
>Scald, melt it out, KO and boil the muck
>Dragon Pulse. Reliable and strong.
>Agility, get even faster!
>Whirlpool. Trap it so he can’t switch
>Something else

>rolling when not asked for

And this is why we don't entreat the Dice Gods unless required.

>Ice Beam because its a KO

>Scald, melt it out, KO and boil the muck

>Whirlpool. Trap it so he can’t switch
Might let us get even more setup in if we're lucky.

>Scald, melt it out, KO and boil the muck

>Whirlpool. Trap it so he can’t switch

>Scald, melt it out, KO and boil the muck

[They're all surprisingly good looking. If I had to choose, it'd be grass > fire > water.]

[Thanks]

>Agility, get even faster!

Changing to >Scald, melt it out, KO and boil the muck

Fuck all of you the Seal is adorable

>Rain Dance and get Swift Swim again.

Rolled 80, 99 = 179 (2d100)

[Dice em]

Rolled 11 (1d100)

Rolled 69 (1d100)

Rolled 79 (1d100)

Have mercy
