True Story, I actually played a character in a BESM game who had Domestic violence as a backstory

My character's role in the chruch, was a social worker, he'd be called into situation where it was clear that spousal abuse was happening and the church was called in to aid, but the abuser was less than willing to part with the wife or child in question. One Kung fu asskicking later and he'd leave with the suddently releaved wife and kids and take them to the nearest church for amesty and aid.

Then that got pushed aside when he was called to keep a close eye on a fallen prince who was seen as a Heretic against the church, but was actually attempting to save the world. Along with a Mechanical genius magic user, and a adolescent girl who just happened to have world crushing magic power.

Plenty of people have domination fetishes just like plenty of people have submission fetishes.
