Perhaps she'd be less biased against the primatchs gender ratio, so maybe Fulgrim and Sanguinious are girls because the Emperess didnt care too much with gender; hardly matters, since they're still 10 foot tall sterile demi-gods made to tailor a specific role in a Imperium that encompasses a trillion different cultures. This. These threads never go anywhere that's good, because the people who make them don't want to make anything good. They want porn, they want to make 40k 'better' in their own sick and twisted way.

If the Emperor was female, would that not change the entire tone of his worship? Women bring to mind femininity, comfort, gentleness, and sexuality. The Emperor as a male can be a benevolent protector in the minds of his people, and he can be a punishing father and powerful protector at the same time. A mother has different connotations, and they are distracting connotations for a setting that at its core is an excuse for nothing but war.

And if you look at him as a man, not a god, it gets even worse - he's not going to stop being a dick, and everyone already stamps down the good things he did do as a male character. What really makes you think making him female will reverse anything? Instead you have a cruel bitch instead of a hard-handed dictator. And imagine how much worse his death would be! Sanguinius sacrificing his life for the Emperor, the termiator or Ollanius Pius or whoever had to die to convince the Emperor to kill Horus, and even Malcador giving up his last spark of power so the Emperor could speak, would all be reinterpreted as weakness on the part of the Empress in a way that's handwaved in the case of the Emperor for the sake of an awesome story.

I'm not saying female characters can't be awesome - there's a wealth of literature with great female main characters - but in a testosterone filled setting like 40k, putting such a character in such a major position is asking for trouble. It would be like making Zeus a woman.

Canon would make a lot more sense that way. Emprah was a shit decision maker that didn't look out for or discipline his kids properly. Most of them are dead or worse due to his shit parenting.
