Boruto Quest 47

This is Boruto Quest, a quest set in the universe of Naruto. It is during the generation of Naruto's son after everyone has graduated from their Genin exam. I haven't kept up with the series beyond the end of the original one, so this one is intended to recapture the feel of that time of Naruto. I will not be incorporating the main show or the Boruto movie's plot into the quest, although some recognizable characters will be present. You play as a 12 year old Chunin named Takeshi. You have been assigned a Jounin squad leader named Hanto, and your two squadmates are Kichiro, a young delinquent, and Ai, a strange social outcast of a girl. You are of average skill in most aspects, although your sharp intelligence, and your jack of trades skill set have brought you far. You have just recently graduated to a Chunin after winning the final tournament. You've been regularly completing missions as a Chunin, and making progress in training. A mission against Cultists is underway. Will your entire team survive the encounter?

Ahhh, yeah. HYPE!!!

Everyone's heads whip to the side, and look across the facility. On the other end, an explosive cloud of dust shoots into the sky. Beneath it, green light pierces the veil. At once, a strange sensation fills the air. Almost like electricity, the hair on your arms stands on end. Suddenly the pressure of the creature's Chakra hits you, despite your inability to sense it otherwise.

Anyone would be able to feel this thing's sinister nature. Green light flashes all around, and the dust is blasted away. Something flies into the sky, and it seems nearly larger than the building itself. The monster blocks out the sun before crashing down and destroying a wing of the structure. It swings a claw through the dust, and you catch a glimpse of the colossus.

Long claws of bone white on a scaly, green surface. Each one as long as a bus, maybe more. It claws through the dirt effortlessly, creating rigid valleys several dozen feet deep right before your eyes. The other arm bursts through, dragging itself forward. You watch it squash a fleeing shinobi, who's allegiance you were personally unsure of. Looking around, you notice something about the nature of this war zone.

Everyone is running away. Cutlist or Cloud Shinobi, it's impossible for you to tell as all of them begin to flee the battlefield.

Debris scatters at your feet. You're too stunned to move. Shock, from the explosive destruction of the creature several hundred feet from you. As you stare forward, two eyes gleam through the smoke.

Like two jewels, they shine. Each one full of cruel intelligence and rage. A primal force of anger barely contained. Just what the hell are you looking at? The pressure of the chakra makes your hands shake, but a slap on your back brings you back. Kichiro shouts. "What're you lookin' so scared for!?"

You look at him. He's grinning wildly. Looking over at Ai, she's frozen just as you were. You turn to Hanto. "Sensei.."

He's staring up at the cloud of smoke, his own eyes burning brightly with resolve. "I know. Everyone, I'm sorry to confirm your suspicions here. There's no doubt that chakra.."

youtube.com/watch?v=To1hJ0zokZM

The smoke is blasted away, as a painstakingly obnoxious buzzing floods your ears. The sound of gigantic insect wings buzzing. You look up, and see a creature that you have difficulty comprehending at first. The body is quite similar to a thinner, gigantic Komodo Dragon. It has a single tail nearly as long as the body, and just as thick at the base. The four legs are long and clawed sharply at the tip, and the head is broad and flat similar to a snakes. It roars, the four insectile wings on it's back vibrating the air in front of you. It's tongue is forked.

Dragonfly.

Kichiro scratches his chin. "Huh..? So, is it the four winged dragon fly? Or does the tail make it five? But, a tail isn't a wing, and wing's aren't tails...Is it the one tail?"

Ai looks at him blankly, not entertained. "I don't believe it matters, at the moment.

Panic starts to rise up inside of you. A legendary tailed beast?

You turn to Hanto. "Sensei!!!"

He stands up straight, still holding his stomach, "I know. If we wanna live, we'd run."

You gulp, and nod quickly. "Uhuh."

Hanto turns around, and looks at the skyline of a nearby city in the distance. The sun is slowly starting to set. "However..We should pick what direction we run in wisely. We need to pull it away, and keep it busy long enough for the Cloud Shinobi to realize what's happening. Here's what we're doing. Ai, you're the fastest. I need you to split from the group, and go alert everyone at the city."

Your sensei bends down, grimacing. He picks up the bloody headband of a Cloud Shinobi, and tosses it to her. "This should convince them that something pretty serious is going on. Get going!"

She looks at the rampaging beast, and then back to the three of you. "Will you be.. safe?"

Kichiro gives her a thumbs up. "Of course!" your seemingly relaxed team mate says. "Me, Hanto, and Takeshi. Brains, Brawn, and old man experience!"

A vein on Hanto's head bulges, and he grits his teeth. "Old!?"

Ah yiss. Boruto Quest! First time I caught this thing early. Sup mini?

>A. Tell her that the quicker she gets going the quicker she can come back

...

You smile, despite the current circumstances. Somehow you do it more for her than yourself. The idea that thousands of people's lives are in your hands pounds at the fringes of your mind, but you push it away with willpower. Pushing the panic away, and clenching your fists, you smile. "We won't do anything crazy, at least not until you get back. The sooner you get going, the sooner you can help us fight!"

She nods, taking on a serious look as usual. "Right!"

At once, Ai dashes off. Now it's just the three of you. You and Kichiro both turn towards Hanto, and your team mate grins cockily. However, your face has already returned to a grimace. "What's the plan, chief?" your friend says.

Hanto stares up at the monster. It hasn't noticed the three of you yet, standing at the edge of the forest now. However, it continues to crush the building. It seems to be intentionally going for total destruction.

"I don't really have one." he says. You try to gulp, but your throat is dry. "What?"

His fist tightens as well. "Your healing was able to stabilize me, but if I move too quickly it's gonna be bleeding again. What you guys need to do, is draw it's attention away. None of our attacks are going to do anything but piss it off anyways."

Kichiro grins. "You can rest for the moment sensei. We've got this, right Takeshi?"

>A. Right. You use your fireballs to draw it's attention, and I'll make it chase my Haze Clones.

Change Taijutsu to fireballs, dont want to get too close and I don't think Haze Clones would really hold its attention or hold up under scrutiny

Sup Mini?

"Kichiro, use your fireballs. I'll draw it away with a whole bunch of Haze clones, but we need to get it's attention first."

He nods. "Right. A pretty smart plan, as always. You know, you've always come up with great ideas.."

He slowly starts to step over to you, and stares at you. His eyes are intense, and wide. "You've helped me a whole lot, especially in the forest. I remember how you'd heal me again and again whenever I got hurt, whether from my own recklessness or the skill of our opponent.."

His fists clench. "I'm gonna do what I can to show you that I'm just as good!"

Kichiro widens his stance, and starts to form handsigns. You take this as your cue to preform the Haze Clone Jutsu, creating dozens of copies which begin running towards the monster. Seconds later, fireballs launch next to you like artillery shells as he uses the Great Fireball technique.

It's broadside is stricken twice, and the third hits it in the face. The beast reels back in surprise all for but a moment, making you think it was damaged. Your clones stand in front of it, before leaping back and running away.

It's giant claw slams into the ground, shaking it beneath you. You were wrong, of course. The clones of you begin to dash away through the forest, now that the beast is enraged. It chases your clones, falling for the bait. From what you can guess, it's probably smart enough to assume that all of the clones are a Jutsu. But when will it realize that they're illusions?

"Kichiro, cover me!" you yell. You're going to have to follow your clones into the forest, so you can see where to direct them.

"Right!" he yells. The two of you take off, keeping up neck and neck in terms of speed. You leap into the trees, swinging on a branch and leaping off of the next to take off high into the air. You break through the treeline and spot your clones being chased by the Four Winged Dragonfly. With smooth motion, it's paw snatches forward. The dirt and trees and gouged, debris flying into the air. Many of cyour clones leap away and dodge, but a small amount of your chakra is taken as some reform. They must have been damaged by debris.

It's become clear to you that you'll be able to keep this up for as long as you have chakra.

>A. Tell Kichiro to hit it with everything he has, to possibly weaken it.

even with the soldier pills you don't have enough chakra to affect him. Besides, the sound of his own rampaging would drown out the sound of the bells, which is the delivery method.

>B. Take a soldier pill to increase your chakra temporarily.

Let's play it safe for now.

As you're running, you open up the compartment in your wristband that contains several soldier pills. Taking one out, you chomp down on it hard. A bitter taste fills your mouth, yet you're filled with a sudden burst of energy. The chakra flowing into you sharpens your focus, and makes you feel renewed. You may as well be fresh into a fight again.

Kichiro lands next to you, and you toss him one. He crunches it as well. "Not bad, so far! It doesn't seem like he gets it!"

Beads of sweat start to form on your forehead. You run closer to the beast, leaping up into the trees and jumping from branch to branch. Maintaining your view, the clones scatter and reform as needed. They do a pretty good job of dodging the wide blows of the beast, but the massive amount of destruction keeps wearing down your chakra.

For a couple of minutes, you manage to maintain this. Kichiro laughs. "Hey, we're pretty far away from the city now! It's working!"

The sweat runs down your face, and you pant. It's difficult to run, direct commands to your clones mentally, and continually pay chakra to keep them alive. Your total reserves have probably been drained another twenty five percent, and it's not healthy to consume multiple soldier pills in a day.

Your attention is turned back as the beast stops suddenly, slamming both of it's claws onto the forest floor. It opens it's mouth wide, and the incredible pressure intensifies further. Your eyes go wide as visible chakra forms in front of you, and gathers into a single black orb.

Both you and Kichiro are frozen, but Hanto's voice behind you saves your lives. "Get down!!" He screams. Leaping up and away, he jumps past you and forms a shield from the blue flame.

Just in time, it absorbs the shockwave of the blast. More than a thunderous clap, the resulting explosion rocks you to your very core despite being aimed no where near you. The emerald blast rips through the forest in a stream of chakra, tearing a huge valley into the earth. A river split in half slowly spills into the fresh gorge from both ends.
The beast growls, and the three of you all hit the ground. Most of the nearby trees have been demolished several feet up, and there are spears of broken wood everywhere.

Kichiro and Hanto both climb to their feet next to you, though Hanto does so a bit more slowly. You can sense that your jutsu was destroyed with no hope. The beast nearby rampages wildly, destroying the forest from sheer frustration. It has lost it's prey, and will soon turn back towards the city.

youtube.com/watch?v=MR6pUblQgsA

Placing your hand on the dirt, you try to stand up, but a sharp pain forces you back to your knees. Looking down, a splintered fragment of a tree has pierced you through the thigh. Hanto and Kichiro both look down.

Hanto's gut has resumed it's bleeding, and he holds his hand over it. Your sensei winces. "I don't know which of us got it worse, buddy.."

A silence washes over the three of you. What can be done?

>A. Ignore your own wound. Try to heal Hanto as quickly as possible, as well as you can. Take another soldier pill for the chakra.
>B. Ask Kichiro to distract it while you heal yourself and Hanto.
>C. Ask Kichiro to carry you, and run away.
>D. Write-in

>D.Rip it out of our leg and have either Hanto or Kichiro use their fire chakra to cauterize the wound then A.

it's a clean hole through your leg, that would kill/immobilize you

I'm not sure if it's healthy to perform a cauterization while the person is awake. Takeshi might go into shock, which is the last thing we want. I'll back this if he can handle it, but otherwise,

>A. Ignore your own wound. Try to heal Hanto as quickly as possible, as well as you can. Take another soldier pill for the chakra.

Well shit, Heal Hanto so he can at least move and have him carry us. Kichiro is the only one who is still combat effective.

>>A. Ignore your own wound. Try to heal Hanto as quickly as possible, as well as you can. Take another soldier pill for the chakra.

>>B. Ask Kichiro to distract it while you heal yourself and Hanto.
He wanted to prove himself lets see what he can do

>>A. Ignore your own wound. Try to heal Hanto as quickly as possible, as well as you can. Take another soldier pill for the chakra.

How bad are the effects of taking multiple soldier pills?

They have a come down that will sharply decrease your chakra. The effect stacks. It won't kill you unless you swallow like five fistfuls, but taking a couple too many might make you pass out at a critical moment.

Taking two will cause you some soreness but it won't do that.

>>A. Ignore your own wound. Try to heal Hanto as quickly as possible, as well as you can. Take another soldier pill for the chakra.

>>A. Ignore your own wound. Try to heal Hanto as quickly as possible, as well as you can. Take another soldier pill for the chakra

youtube.com/watch?v=mXV7YiX9LDo

The stinging in your leg is sharp, and constant. Every time you move even a little, it calls attention back to it. Looking up and between your friends, the only true option that you can think of becomes clear. You're going to have to heal Hanto as quickly as possible. He's the only hope that you really have against stalling this monster anymore.

"Hanto, lie down! Before he notices us, I'll heal you as much as I can."

You take another soldier pill, your chakra momentarily flaring up while you preform handsigns. The pain makes it more difficult than it's ever been, but as Hanto lies in front of you the jutsu activates. Your hands glow a softer green than the dragon's jade.

The glow intensifies as you force extra chakra into it, trying to improve the jutsu as much as you can. You waste the energy of the pill, but you figure that it's worth it to heal your sensei.

Beads of sweat drop from your forehead. The pain dulls under your concentration. Looking up, you do a double take. Kichiro is taking his vest off.

It strikes the ground, causing a small explosion of dust. Hanto grins. "What are you doin', you idiot.."

The look in his eyes is intense. You're not sure if you've ever seen him like this. He clenches his fists. "I'm sick of this.."

"What?" you say.

He turns towards the beast, and yells. "I said I'm sick of it!! These cultists, killing all of their friends on a dime like that! Letting this monster loose, and putting everyone in this country in danger!"

With a single stomp, you feel a shockwave of chakra as the first of the eight gates activates. He kneels down, and yells. "I've never been this pissed off! But, I'm also excited, hahaha! I can prove just how strong I really am too!!"

His hair stands up on end, but this time it's from the chakra bursting off of him. He breaks through the second gate right away. You look down at Hanto, shocked. "How far can he go!?"

Your teacher stares at you blankly. You notice a bit of blood on the corner of his mouth. He simple shrugs.

Kichiro's skin begins to turn red, just as before with his previous jutsu. But this time, it's the Third Gate activating. The monster turns in the direction of all the noise, spotting Kichiro.

You shout. "H-hey! I told Ai we wouldn't do anything crazy until she got back!"

youtube.com/watch?v=aJo_3B5-1uk

He bursts forward at full speed. "Well I didn't tell her shit!!" Vanishing from your sight momentarily, Kichiro reappears several dozen feet forward on the ground. He leaps off, an explosion of flame propelling him at high speeds directly at the tailed beast. He looks like a smoking bullet flying through the air, in the center of the valley that the monster made. Landing on the ground once more, he leaps up and closes the gap with an explosive punch on the tip of it's nose. His speed was too much for it to react initially, being caught off guard. He rapidly thrusts his fists forward, the machine gun like blows firing fireball after fireball. Normally it would be an incredibly destructive move, but the hide of the monster is seemingly invincible.

The beast swipes, but Kichiro propels himself higher into the air with fire. It erupts from his fists and feet.

This is Dragon Boxing versus a Dragonfly. The tailed beast simply tilts it's head upwards, and a massive surge of chakra starts to rise into the air. Blue and red orbs circulate like a minefield, and deadly arms of energy burst forward and chase your friend. Wildly, he flips through them and dodges by a hairs breadth. Every slight graze deeply burns his red skin.

A claw of the chakra arms gently grazes his faze, cleanly burning the flesh off of his cheekbone with it's volatility. The bone is exposed for a brief moment, clean and white. It's quickly covered in blood.

He lands on the dirt again, and looks up. Though no one can hear it, a panting Kichiro issues a final warcry. He launches up into the air, hitting the creature's nose again with a lightning fast fiery kick. He follows up with another machine gun like series of punches, though this time it's all hooks for full strength. The jets of flame erupting from his feet rotate his hips, waist, and legs perfectly in time with is punches in order to simulate the effect of rotational force.

You can only imagine how this rapid motion is destroying his core. However, you see his plan bloom right before your eyes. The fire from his fists has been gathering, and suddenly it begins to fan out in every direction with each punch. The pace increases, and the tailed beast reels back while Kichiro wails on it's face.

"ASAKUJAKU" he yells brazenly. You're stunned and confused, knowing that normally you'd have to be in a much higher gate to preform that technique. Hanto laughs underneath you as you heal him. "He's faking it..the fire from Dragon Boxing is what that is, not pure Taijutsu. What a show off.."

The pain from your wound sucks you back in, but the sound of Kichiro's punches in the distance give you a rhythm to work to. The healing energy pulses powerfully as your energy is being sucked away from the stress and exertion, but soon enough your Sensei's wound is mostly closed.

There's a crack like lightning nearby, and you see the beast get struck to the earth with a haymaker. However, your friend begins to fall to the earth as well. He probably destroyed his body with that technique.

We've bought time. Ai should have gotten a response team rallied, it's time to retreat.

>>B. Rip the stick out and go save him with Hanto.

Well, we're in quite the predicament. The beast will only stay down for so long, and Kichiro needs to be saved. We're injured, and if we push ourselves too far, we could pretty much fail at a critical moment.

>A. Ask Hanto to go save him. Start healing yourself.

>>A. Ask Hanto to go save him. Start healing yourself.

We have to treat this sooner or later, and Hanto has got his breath back, we can help next round.

>D. Interrupt the beast if it goes to strike Hanto where he can't defend himself with false sight to confuse it momentarily, and then continue healing.

If we try to save Kichiro as is we would become a liability, and Hanto would likely get hurt or die trying to save us both.

>A. Ask Hanto to go save him. Start healing yourself.
remember this stick is clean through our legs. High chance of passing out and dieing if we don't close the wound fast enough. Better to let Hanto take care of things right now.

You reach down, and grasp the thickest end of the stick. You sigh, and inhale deeply. "Like a bandaid." you tell yourself. It's just a big bandaid, a big bandaid that's really really really gonna-

As you yell from the pain, Hanto clamps his hand over your mouth. "Hey, you gotta be quiet yeah?" Several seconds later, your scream stops. You push his hand off and attempt to stand up, only managing to wobble before falling. "You have to go save Kichiro!!"

Hanto looks over. "You're right. Heal yourself as much as you can, but when I bring him back he's gonna need you."

Clenching your fists, you punch the ground as lean forward to support yourself. "Damnit..Okay! Hurry!"

Your sensei is gone in a flash, a calm breeze blowing across your face as he vanishes. Looking over, you're reminded of just who is on your side. You gulp, and decide to begin healing yourself. The concentration required is immense. The blood on your hands is glowing brightly from the green healing energy. The wound slowly starts to close in the center, and with that you're already considerably better off. That sprint of healing cost you a good bit of energy, however. The blood starts to pool inside of the wound, so you instead focus your energy on an even spread. This thinner spread of healing will accelerate the process of clotting, reducing the loss of blood. Your own wound has been somewhat stabilized at least, although you're probably down to about 25% chakra. The effects of the initial soldier pill wearing off have drained you even further than the pressure. Going to wipe your head with the back of your hand, you find both blood and sweat.

Hanto lands next to you, disrupting your slight daze. He lays your friend flat on the ground, who grimaces painfully. "He's just about as bad as I expected." you say. His core muscles have been heavily damaged, along with his arms and legs. So yeah, basically everything now that you think about it.

Hanto leaps away to defend. What do you do?

>C. Don't take a pill, and heal Kichiro with everything you have left.

>D. As soon as he's stable enough to move, FUCKING MOVE! You've done your job, get back to the city for some proper medical attention.

>C. Don't take a pill, and heal Kichiro with everything you have left.

I think we've had enough ninja steroids for now.

>C. Don't take a pill, and heal Kichiro with everything you have left.

Guys, if we don't take a pill someone will have to carry us back.

Can't we just opt to take a pill a mid round or later if it becomes apparent that we have to use it? I would rather hold off and eat it ten seconds later if we have to rather than be stuck fucked up from OD when we didn't need it.

dude all three of us are basically not in any fighting shape. Kichiro just put himself out of the fight with that technique, Hanto's wound is just fixed with a patch job, and we have a stick through our leg that we can't safely remove and are low on chakra. We've done all we could in this situation

We pulled the stick, but yes, you are correct

He's passed out. You know that you'll be too, if take another solider pill to attempt to heal the both of you. For now, you roll of your sleeves and do what you can. The remainder of your chakra flows all over his abdominal area, and you focus on the center near his spine. It's very difficult to get your chakra to reach that deep, but at this highest level of concentration you manage to reduce his pain by quite a bit.

The healing energy flows into his legs as well, as you mostly want to focus on getting him moving. Only a light touch on his arms. Looking up, you can see blue and green fire clashing together. It's such a pretty sight that it momentarily distracts you from your friend, until an arm clutches yours.

Kichiro opens a single eye. "Was it..cool?"

That's all for tonight folks. I'll be continuing tomorrow, however, in this thread.

Not sure if everyone saw my twitter update but in order for me to be able to run more frequently, I'll be doing shorter threads a little bit later in the evening. This means I'll probably start regularly doing half a thread one night and then the other half the next. I'll be around for just a little while to answer questions.

Thanks for running, man!

So Is Hanto fighting the Komodo solo? How much longer til we get back up? How fucked up are we all, could we have avoided it with a paperbomb?

It's more of a Dragon-Fly, with the insect wings and dense armor. It'll be a bit longer until back up comes, and Hanto is on his own.

A paper bomb slowing the beast down might have helped at a critical moment.

Dammit I knew being stingy with bombs was a bad idea. So how well did we patch up Hanto?

You'll see

He's going to die because we got stingy isn't he?

bump for the night

I just realized, if push comes to shove, we should use the blue healing liquid that the flower shop owner gave us. The one that boosts the effect of healing jutsu. Hopefully we won't have to use it, but if it means bringing back someone who's down, we should remember that it's an option.

Good eye user

bump

we still have the bug poison?
I was planning on stabbing bells on the beast's head and go immobile jutsu but didnt get to participate...sad

Poison dose is too small to stop something that big

If I remember right a tailed beast is pretty much pure chakra so I don't think normal poison would work on it

Dammit Mini where are you?

Hello everyone. Sorry that I'm a bit late. There really isn't enough time to wrap up what I wanted to do, it'd take a bit more than three hours that I have before I need to sleep for work.

I'll run tomorrow when I get home. Keep an eye in the afternoon for my twitter updates.

Darn I was looking forward to this too.

Hopefully everyone can catch the new thread tomorrow, unless this one somehow stays alive.

I'll be starting as soon as I get home.

Given we're at 89 out of 310 as of this post it could.

Just to say some crazy shit: qst threads tend to linger for about 3-4 days.

Mini I'll bump this out of duty and respect, but if you don't run tomorrow like you said do expect to have an express mailed thousand years of pain find your ass.
