Hal Finney

So this is another contender to potentially be Satoshi Nakamoto (spoiler alert, hes dead). He had his body cryogenically frozen. So if he is Satoshi then he will someday in the long distant future come back to life with reanimation technology, bitcoin will have made him a trillionaire and he will basically be Jesus. Discuss.

Satoshi Nakamoto pretty much translates to "Centralized Intelligence"

>He had his body cryogenically frozen
Really? His body didn't seem worth keeping desu

He isnt Satoshi but he was one of the first people to correspond with him and one of the first miners, in fact probably the first person to operate a bitcoin node besides the ones Satoshi had control of.

How rich is the slag in that pic now?

In March 2013, Finney posted on a bitcoin forum BitcoinTalk that he was essentially paralyzed, but continued to program. He continued to program until his death; he was working on experimental software called bcflick, which uses Trusted Computing to strengthen bitcoin wallets.

His biggest mistake was stop mining.
Should have just left a PC running the exe.
Hopefully he still was able to leave his family with a decent amount.
RIP

>During the last year of his life, the Finneys received anonymous calls demanding an extortion fee of 1,000 bitcoin. They became victims of swatting — a hoax "where the perpetrator calls up emergency dispatch using a spoofed telephone number and pretends to have committed a heinous crime in the hopes of provoking an armed police response to the victim’s home".

Whats the point of doing that?

If he's so smart, why is he dead?

To harass people or maybe see them killed if they somehow resist an arrest?

I had quads and now trips.
Wow.

Who is Satoshi then?

There’s more evidence to suggest Hal was Satoshi than any other contender.

Nick Szabo ofcourse

post wallet

Nah it is either Craig Wright or Satoshi is dead. Nick would have proven that Craig isn't Satoshi after Craig said he was. Especially with the BTC vs BCH war going on.

combo of Nick & Hal

You basically need 3 characteristics in 1 person:
- programmer
- economist
- fully understands law and TPTB to know before making bitcoin public that they'll come after him

Check Szabo's degree's and interests (blog)

Look at his demeanor in interviews. He only wants his idea's to be known to the world, not his persona.

Wright is a tool. Who wears a fucking gold watch. He looks like a conman.

lolz

I think Hal knew it was Nick

SOCKS ON SALE SOCKS ON SALE

>Craig Wright
sorry, try again

In order to know how it really is, we need to look at Satoshi's writing and see who's style his matches with. That's how the NSA figured who it was.

Look at Szabo while Wright is conning.
Hilarious

Masters muh

prove he isnt bitch, guess what you cant

I don't know who Satoshi is, that is the one million btc question. but if it was Hal Finney we would know because Hal was involved in the Cypher punk community and an active member for a long time and designed his own crypto-currencies and other cryptographic programs as did many others such as Szabo and Back. Satoshi's greatest contribution was the fact that he solved the problem of a fully decentralized peer-to-peer currency which was the focus of the group after the Digicash fiasco. BTC was announced on a mailing list including Finney, Back, Szabo and other cypherpunks. Of all the people who replied it was Finney who liked the idea and a security expert who hated it the two worked together and Finney mined and supported a node. We could say this is some farce run by Satoshi to add another layer on their anonymity but it seems like it is too convoluted. The real kicker is that Finney fell terminally ill in 2009 and abruptly stopped mining BTC and corresponding Satoshi. However Satoshi kept corresponding with others in the community and moved onto working with a Finnish programmer by the name of Martti who designed the BTC logo and forums. Satoshi remained active on these forums until late 2010 early 2011, note the behaviour of a man facing death from a motor neuron disease. It is worth noting that Satoshi also used terms common to British English that would make little sense for a man born and raised in California working in the tech industry.
