One Piece Adventure Quest 16

One of his eyes twitches as he grinds his teeth around, making the hair on my neck stand up, like its at attention as well.

"Yes, it turns out uhhh" He says nervously, turning away and scratching the back of his neck "We were actually right at the front door of a rather...erm pricing resort frequented by some of my superiors and f..families like..."

"Ochamu" Ochamu says sheepishly, as she pulls her hat over her eyes shyly..

"Yes, Ochamu" Ginegin says nodding slowly "People with a good amount of lee way in this part of the world, and...yeaaaah"

"Oooh ho you fucked the pooch fish" Jeb laughs, making ginegin glare at him "that's terrible innit? cause I'm pretty sure most of the stolen flags didn't go down with their ship"

"Yes old fossil, speak again and I'll have you tanned" Capn hisses "I was getting to that, point is that...well it isn't baseless worrying, we've gotten a distress call on our old Den den mushi...and there's another group of pirates besides those two on that island"

"And" He says looking down, his voice lowering with his head "I've been told I cannot help at all, I'm too destructive they said, and the most I can do is send a force to try and keep damages to a minimum while I wait for a more...competent captain to bring reinforcements or other sorts"

He stares at his feet, his chest shuddering like he's about to cry, and I feel the same

"But...fuck em" He says happily as Baldrick grabs his chest and tumbles down the stairs "Sending you all there would just make a mess anyways, so why not bring a hammer swinging and fix the problem my...with a small force of problem solvers"

"Thank god you're not that stupid gine" Baldrick says, shaking weakly on the ground

OH, now I get why he hasn't stopped being a captain yet, despite being a walking disaster area. It's because he is one, and doesn't try to hold himself back or...as I sort of guess already, doesn't really follow orders beside his own to well.

but a grin slowly curls on my lips, as I start to feel a little sharper and more awake, even though the rest of the ship sounds as dead as I was feeling just a few seconds ago.

"So I'm guessing I'm the hammer then?" I ask, lifting up the front of my cap as my duster blows and flutters behind me

"Of course, you've done a great deal in our little adventure out onto the sea" Capn says walking up to me, with a kind almost fatherly smile on his face, very unlike his usual demented grin "As I said, you're a great marine, and can cause the most damage with out breaking things like myself, you follow orders unlike myself, honestly I won't be surprised if they take you away from me to try and scurb my influence out of you"

"Oh like that'll ever happen" I say happily "Besides, I've always had a bit of wildness in me anyways...just don't break away from your orders okay capn? no need to prove em right"

"I'm not, I'm sending a force to keep order while reinforcements arrive , what if its a small
one,and what if I said for them to go and smash the pirates instead of contain, they said to keep them under pressure, I'm just making sure they're crushed instead of trapped" Ginegine says, clenching his hand into a fist as he holds it an inch away from his face

"Understood" I say with a quick nod "Well, I'll be taking Jack with me"

"Oh...right"Jack says nervously "Can I possibly swab the decks instead or...fine..fine, I'll go, you probably will need me anyways"

"Oh stop your whining, Ochamu and Yotshi are coming to" I say sternly, as Ajax meows up at me "And Ajax as well"

"Hey, I'm going to be there to, don't forget about that" Ochamu huffs indignantly "Don't act like you're not going to have help"

"Yotshi" I say, making my friend freeze up and smile meekly as he looks up at me, trying not to look me in the eyes "Be nice, so Captain how far away are we from the island anyways?"

"I was just saying my mind" I hear him mummer weakly behind me, sounding thoroughly beaten "I have a problem with that don't I?...sorry"

"You really need to learn to keep your mouth shut Yotshi chaaaaaan" Jack says teasingly, barely hiding the venom under his voice

"Yeah, it isn't polite to just say something like that about a lady" Ochamu sniffles "I know! I'll teach you to be a proper gentleman!"

"Oh god no you don't have to go that far!" Yotshi shouts as Captain stares at them, looking confused as all hell at what they're saying, mostly because they're not letting him talk, I think.

"Oh no, you need some class, I can't stand being around such a crass boy as yourself" Jack says smugly

"SHUT UP!" Ginegin shouts, snapping his jaws loud enough that I thought he fired a gun for a moment "Now let me talk to Evil eye, mhm"

He smiles as friendly as he can with a mouth full of razor sharp teeth, closing his eyes to try and look sweeter.

"Well, we're right at the door as well, which is why I was wrestling with your sea monster, to relieve all the pent up stress I had of being denied the ability to do my duty and serve JUSTICE!" He shouts, puffing his chest out and crossing his arms "And to prove my superiority of course"

"Riiiiight" I say calmly as I start to walk past him "So is there anything else I need to know about the place?"

"Besides not to break anything unless you want to go deaf in one ear?" Capn chuckles "And the top priority is to save any vacationers you can find? Yeah, the place has a stupid name, because the girl who made the island was uncreative as hell, and sadly one of my superiors"

"She's a nice girl gine, don't spread slander, that's what got you your demotion last time....I think, might've been the one before that actually" Baldrick says, as he pats a proud looking Marine with a slightly wild looking beard and a tattered uniform...I think he "Served" under me on that borrowed ship

"Bah, either way she named it the island with no name, who the hell names something like that, it makes my skin crawl" Ginegin growls "And where are you going Evil eye? going to get some coffee so you don't return to your grave"

"Of course" I say, waving lazily behind my back "I'll be right back, feel free to get ready without me...okaaaaay?"

And then I hear someone laugh, followed by a a few more fellahs giggling, and then most of the ship laughing with them. And I smile happily, as I slip into captain's quarters while they're distracted.

Now...where does he keep his special brew, He did say I could use it so long as I didn't use ALL of it after all

I sigh as I walk out, swirling my freshly brewed cup of joe under my nose, enjoying the earthy scent as I walk onto the deck.

"So, Miss Evil eye" Baldrick says holding his hand out "Good luck, we'll be taking another ship over as...well we don't want to ride on your sea king to be honest"

"I understand, sir" I say as I grab his hand as I crouch over slightly, gripping it as tightly as I can "Besides it's a good idea if ya think about it, we'll distract them by being obvious, and you'll sucker punch them"

"Well that's what I was thinking, but the men were more scared it'd eat them" Baldrick giggles, his fat face shaking along with the rest of him as we shake hands "Still, be careful, pretty sure everyone on that island wants your head...and your "twin's"

"Oh no doubt about that, I am a rather high priority" Jack says as he calmly holds his hand behind his back "Han Han no blast"

the air ripples behind him as serri rises up, spitting water at my doppleganger. The sea king hisses as the water stops in the air, before flying back right into his face.

"Don't try anything snake" Jack says calmly as he ducks down as Serri tries to take a bite out of him, calmly brushing his hair down as she stands back up with a smug grin

"You probably shouldn't be taunting the man eating monster, idiot" Yotshi groans "And why do we always end up being the calvary"

"Because we're the heroes, isn't it obvious" Ochamu says as she tries to climb up onto Serri's back, making the sea king whimper and bow his head to stop her from trying and to let her on without her pulling down on his fins "Like knights riding to free a princess...even though I kind of wish I was the princess"

"....Right" Yotshi says nodding slowly, as he cautiously approaches Serri "Soooo...no hard feelings right big guy"

Serri makings a sort of gurgling grumble as Yotshi slowly tries to climb up his snout, and the sea king stares at me, as if asking "Can I throw him off?"

"Well we're being someone's knights in shinin armor today" I say, as I calmly stride up Serri's snout, past Yotshi as he struggles to walk up him "And I think you'd do much better in that regard to, Ochamuuu"

"Oh no doubt" Yotshi says happily as Ochamu blushes and turns away with a cute squeak

"Well lets get this over wiiiith!?" Jack screams as serri pulls back, nearly sending him off the edge of the ship into the sea, before he grabs onto one of his spines "OH YOU OVER GROWN KOI FISH!? YOU'RE LUCKY YOU HAVE ADELA WATCHING YOUR BACK YOU IGNORANT ANIMAL!"

"Jack play nice, he's just playing"Ochamu says, like she's talking about a dog or misbehaving brat "No need to be so rude to him"

"He tried to drown me" Jack says angrily as he pulls himself onto serri's back, as Ajax walks up next to me, staring at jack calmly "Bet you'd like to eat this fish too eh kitty?"

Ajax turns away and closes his eyes, cleaning himself and licking Serri.

I smile and sit down, looking back up at the marines marching to the other side of the boat, with Baldrick walking behind them slowly, scratching his gut as he goes. Captain stands where he was when I went to get coffee, his eyes looking duller than usual as he looks at the rest of the marines, or rather past them.

I put my thumb and finger in my mouth and whistle as sharply as I can, drawing his attention back over to myself.

His expression remains empty, until I stand up, followed shortly by Ochamu and Yotshi, and salute him as Serri lowers himself down to the water and starts to swim away.

And as we leave the ships side, I hear him laughing, as happily and loudly as ever.

I sit back down, as Yotshi and Ochamu struggle to do the same, saying nothing for awhile as Jack yawns and lays down, putting his cap over his face to keep the sun out of his eyes.

"Stay low" I say, patting the sea king, just besides the fins along the side of its head "And go slow, I want to get a good look at this place"

"Observe then strike" Yotshi says nodding slowly "I can get behind that, rather that charging straight up to it"

"Oh this is so exciting" Ochamu says happily as Serri rolls up and down over the waves as I scoot a bit away from his edge, to avoid the water and any chance of falling into it, fear seeping out of my lips as I do so "I can't wait to write home about this...I just hope they're not doing anything to vile over there"

But I just suck it down, and shake my head

"Oh I'm sure they are" Jack yawns, crossing his legs "my boys aren't exactly as mannered as me, and I imagine they're pretty riled up from my..."

"Betrayal" I say flatly as I glance back at him

Jack lifts up his hat, looking at me sadly as the metal on his nose glints, but he doesn't say a single word to me.

"Sorry" I say just as dully as I turn back around, an awkward silence falling over us.

And I just stare ahead, squinting as I see the outline of an island start to rise over the horizon. It looks like it's got some mountains on it and...wait those are buildings...why are they so tall!

And twisty? it reminds me Popa Island with how colorful it is. It looks more like a massive fair from here than an actual island. As we get closer I see that it's very green and the beaches are nearly pearly...wait are those pearls? Ehhh?

There's a single dock jutting out of it, with shining ships with gold and silver riveted onto them, and other various fancy looking gadgets and designs, as well as a swarm of life boats and make shift rafts.

There's also one ship that's out of place, with garish art and weird looking writing on it. It has a jolly roger of a smiling skull with a bright green tongue and headphones over a bright pink sort of rooster looking hair cut.

Guess that belongs to the other pirates

I sigh, my eyes are aching. I need some coffee or I'm going to be stumbling around like a walking corpse. I bring the cup to my lips and take a sip, feeling life and energy running back through me as my eyes start to feel less like they're full of cactus barbs.

Well I better make sure we're safe to land. I stand up, taking another sip of my coffee as I hold my cap down as the wind blows against me. The dock is ruined, covered in trash and covered in soot and other grime. And also broken blades and abandoned guns. Well that doesn't bode well at all. I squint, there's blood on the edges of the stone dock.

I frown and walk onto serri's snout as we get closer, and I see bodies laying motionless along the various alleyways of the colorful shops and buildings, or in bushes along the streets. I almost didn't notice them in the devestation left in the streets.

And some of them are pirates that were on our ship, still wearing their stripes, now stained red.

I frown, as I notice the other bodies are dressed like the men and women from that floating fort, and are laying near fancy looking blades and shooters.

There's around twenty of them in all, and Ochamu sees them to, and gasps.

"Oh..nooo" she says covering her mouth "no no nooo"

"They're pirates" I say calmly "so stop fretting"

"Hmm, good eyes Evil eye" Jack says playfully "How much beli do they have on them"

"I'll see" I say with a smirk as Serri raises me up to the dock.

Ajax hops off of the sea king and I hear a ragged, torn breath, like someone struggling to breath.

Time to be nice/scary.

I step onto the dirtied pier and draw my revolvers as I start to walk down it, slowly and cautiously as my friends and jack follow close behind me, as Ajax walks in front of us like he's leading the way.

"Seems like there was a fight" I say quietly as I try to pin point where that breathing is coming from, it isn't anywhere on the dock, it sounds more like it's just off of it...in one of those raided stores maybe

"Really I couldn't tell" Jack says, sounding on edge under his usual smugness "what makes you think that"

"Quite" I say sternly, as Ochamu looks around, trying no to step on anything to dirty, looking quite concerned about the state of the place

Jack shrugs and turns away from me as I walk down the street, stepping over broken muskets and shattered piece of road. Yeah, there was a fight here, a real big one to, a right old tussle.

"Nnnrr" a voice whimpers "Can't move...hey...hey, someone there, please don't tell me your one of the suits or stripes, god I don't need that sort of luck right now, please lord of above"

Yep, that came from the first store on the right, a tone dial shop, with its windows and doors ripped off. I hold my hand out, motioning for my friends to stay put as I walk in, with my revolvers raised up just in case.

"Ah" the voice says weakly, as I see shattered shells scattered on the floor, and a broken counter, with a boy round my age laying in it, tanned almost to the point of looking like my favorite drink "Ah fuck me, Marines...seems to be the only way today could be worse"

He shifts, a pair of green googles around his eyes, the left half shattered as he tries to get up, his orange and green hoodie torn to piece and covered in blood, and his baggy yellow and black pants trailing over broken glass as he glares at me, struggling to breath as he holds his back.

His hair hangs over his shoulder, a braided pony tail died orange and yellow.

"I'm not going to shoot you" I say as I level my guns at him, and he holds his hands up into the air, taking a few steps away from me "Unless you lie to me"

"Oh...come on giiiiirl" He groans, rocking his head back "look at me, do I look like I need to get shot, come on be reasonable here"

"I will be, if you don't lie to me" I say calmly as he bites his lip and shakes his head, nearly stumbling back over the counter.

"Come on, I'm not against you here this time, not that uh, you'd know the other times" He says with a nervous chuckle as Ochamu walks in behind me "WHOA!"

"Adela is everything all...what?" Ochamu says, sounding hurt as she tries to make herself seem smaller "I'm just checking in...what happened to you"

"Everything is fine Ochamu, I'm just questioning him" I say turning back to her for a second, before I turn back to the wounded man "So what happened to you"

The man holds his back, running his hand down it and wincing.

"Me and my captain and the rest of the boys...er boy and girl" He says slowly "Well we were just stopping her to see if we could get some supplies, didn't have this place on any of our maps, and...well we couldn't afford anything, besides the cheapest drinks in the bar, so we decided to drown our sorrows there while we tried to figure out what to do"

"Get to the point already" I yawn, rubbing my eyes with the back of my hand

"Come on, don't like a story, hey hey" he says shaking his head "Well as you can see, this place got swarmed, and...we were passed out when it happened, and...decided to play hero"

"But you're pirates" Ochamu gasps "that's...weird"

"Rarity aren't we" the man says happily

"More like a statistical improbability" Yotshi chimes, poking his head into the store

"If you're telling the truth" I say calmly "Go on"

"Well, I ended up in a fight between two of the stripes, some big fucker with a M D burned into his face" he says touching the same part of his face Pete rawlings had his scar

"And a short of skinny guy dressed all proper and such, well I ran into them while I was running to get some guys special mushi, and well the smaller one challenged me to a duel"

"Oh you idiot, you absolute fool" Jack chuckles "I..I just can't beileve you'd accept that"

"Yeah well, I nearly had him and his men beat, when the big guy hit me from behind, and left me for dead after they stomped me" the man growls angrily "and I've been laying here since...don't know how I'm standing, no idea where Johnny and the rest are thou..."

"So you're a pirate then" I ask twirling my guns around

"Yeah, but seriously I know this is rude but...what are you?" He asks "Cause you look like a fishman but....scarier, deep sea mama or something like that"

I hum to myself as I walk down the alley way, closing my eyes as everything goes quite except for Taz whistling to himself an upbeat tune to himself, occasionally make weird rasping noises that I'm guessing mean he isn't lying about that whole dying thing. Well, I did give my word I'd keep him safe, so I should start figuring out how I'm going to do that exactly, when I'm not right behind him. I sigh and shake my head, pulling my cap over my closed eyes as I try to figure out how I'm going to do that without making a bigger mess of this town.

I need to get up high I think, but all of these buildings are shaped like...well they're weird and round, they don't have any ledges for me to grab onto, or anything flat to keep me from slipping off of them, at least in this part of the town. No idea why this half of the street suddenly decided to look like a bunch of stone bubbles, instead of like normal houses.

I groan and open my eyes, as we walk down the far cleaner alleyway, saying nothing to each other as I go along.

The doors on either side of me open, and I hear laughing as someone throws a bottle at him, and barely misses

"Look who came back to die!" a giggling man shouts loudly "How're you still moving around buddy"

"God, there won't be enough for your friends to bury, you noisy shit" another, much deeper voice growls "Come on, just lay down and let us finish the job, stop kidding yourself"

"Oh this is hilarious, Capn Pete, capn pete, come see who it is, it's that dancing guy who you spined!" a nasally voice yells, eer it grins against my ears.
