>Started just playing armies with stuff I like the look of instead of most efficient
>Have more fun
>The two WAAC guys (who are like 100% fucking each other) complain that I don't bring my gladius anymore
Why are people like this.

This thread is now Undead!

Made this list purely out of the models I have. Is it playable at 1k points?

It seems like you miss out on one of the major benefits of Inquisition, which is having 5 pt bolter carriers. Missing out on a mountain of cheap infantry makes Corteaz sad.

Casting for Horus Heresy on HBO:

The Emperor: Ian Mckellan
Horus: Chris Evans
Fulgrim: Jaime lanister
Mortarion: Tom Hardy
Konrad Kurze: Tom Hiddlestone
Angron: Rory Mechan
Alpharius/Omegon: Mat Damon/Marky Mark
Lorgar: Michael Cera, Erebus is Jesse Eisenberg, Phaeron is Ian McDiarmid.
Pertarbo: Shane
Magnus the Red: Young Magneto
Sanganius: Ben Afleck
Lionel Johnson: Chris Hemsworth, Luthor is Charles Danz
Vulcan: Forest Whitaker
Rogal Dorn: Stannis
Ferrus Manus: John Snow
Corax: Norman Reedus
Leman Rus: Hugh Jackman
Gulliman: New Obi-Wan
Jaghatai Khan: The Rock

No idea. I did the same thing as you and have way more fun because painting and playing with awesome claw termies teleporting into the most hilarious and risky spots and stomping around with shitty AV12 boxnaughts is a million more times fun and 40k than trying to gamble for the most OP psychic powers to throw on my ugly retarded centurion suits

Hey, can I get some feedback on a list? It's Tyrant's Legion list I whipped up in just a night, so it's probably not that great, but it's just for a quick casual game.

HQ
>Carnac Commodus - 105 pts
>4x Auxilia Bodyguards and Tribune w/ carapace armour, krak grenades and heavy weapon team - 110 pts

ELITES
>10x Retaliators w/ Rhino, meltagun and power maul - 240 pts

TROOPS
>10x Auxilia Armsmen w/ Chimera, meltagun, krak grenades and a meltabomb - 155 pts
>30x Legion Auxilia w/ x3 flamers - 115 pts
>15x Legion Space Marines w/ 2x heavy bolters

HEAVY SUPPORT
>Contemptor Dreadnought w/ Extra Armour, Heavy Flamer and Kheres Assault Cannon - 210 pts
>2x Rapier Laser Destroyers w/ Prefect - 75 pts
>2x Basilisks - 250 pts

I was thinking of getting rid of the rapiers and some other gear and go for some dedicated heavy armour instead, as this list is mostly infantry with only a few transports. Or maybe just go "fuck it" and spent it on more auxilia for maximum pink tide.

10 acolytes and 1 psyker. 7 with bolters, 3 with plasma guns and the psyker rolling on divination for rerolls to hit and hopeful full BS overwatch and ignores cover.
87 points total.

>Fucking love terminators
>Tyranid friend loves swarming the table with an insane amount of cannon fodder
>We both get to laugh as my mostly terminator army wades through a sea of bugs and sometimes end the game with like one Terminator left
But then it gets ruined when the War Convo player wants to show off his knights and we both have to take out stupid cheese lists if we don't want to get tabled in one or two turns.

I'll consider it.

Is the list at least decent otherwise?

>implying even HBO could afford such a star studded cast

It could be fun, but you are playing with far too many snowflakes. Most of your points are tied up in HQ units, which leaves you with the unfortunate side effect that getting tabled is really easy.

The individual units are all fine, you just have too many specialists. There is a reason no one runs 10 assassins as an army.

Hey man, it is a wish list. HBO wouldn't touch WH40K with a 10 ft. pole.

Alpharius and Omegon should be played and credited for Elijah Wood and Daniel Radcliffe.

And then after Alpharius is "assassinated" they are both played by Toby Maguire and he wears different makeup and costumes for each of them.

>both armies are full of deep strikers
>board is full of skyscrapers and high ruins
>allow units to deep strike on to other units
>counts as a tank shock
>if you knock other models off the narrow ledges they're perched on, they use the old fall damage rules
>literally playing 40K Tetris and Jenga

Yeah GW writes terrible rules, but the people who think 40K can work as a competitive game without a complete overhaul are just as dumb. 40K was specifically meant for and tailor made for retarded and fun shit, not serious business gaming. This is why cheesy WAAC builds are so polarizing. You either hate them or love them.

Dude that sounds perfect for me and my Nid friend.

We talked about how cool it would have looked if my drop pods could actually crash through a building to squish a bunch of his cannon fodder bugs and have people falling off buildings to their death.

Would have made the death of his Flyrant look fucking cool too, giant ass bug crashing down to the street and landing on the Marines shooting at it.

what is the cheapest infiltrating unit and is it possible to get enough of them to cover an entire 4x6 table with them 2" apart

>U
That sounds like a hilarious distraction arc. "Season 4 will be about Omegon and Alpharius. It is now a romantic comedy."

I know there's a lot of tau hate here but I've been thinking of starting a non-op tau army utilizing lots of guerilla warfare tactics so no vehicles lots of infantry stealth suits drones and maybe a unit of crisis suits. No giant robots, except maybe one ghost keel.

Thoughts? Still op?

>watching Veeky Forums Babby Cup
>/sp/ is drawing with /g/

Yet we couldn't be /g/ and we flopped out. Why has Veeky Forums become so shit at Veeky Forums Cups?

...

Is it time for that again already
Next thing you know it'll be time for prom, who're we taking this year Veeky Forums

The group stages are already over. Veeky Forums came 3rd in the group. We were in the Winter Cup but we came 3rd in the group. We got relegated to Babby Cup.

We used to be World Rank No.1... Then we got a new manager and can't do shit.

>servo skulls

Ian Mckellan is prob going to die soon.

Horus should be played by Sir Patrick Stewart. He's bald.

>Sanguinius
>Ben Afleck

Time you blow you away.

Veeky Forums fucking sucks. I'm going to commit sudoku.

So they're faggots in two senses?

I feel super retarded for asking, but where can I watch

>Jaghatai Khan: The Rock
>not Ken Watanabe
kid...

this guy understands proper casting. 10/10 list

There is none.

Faeit 212 will mention any rumour just for ad revenue.

>WHFB will have 5 factions
>Source: anonymous

>40k is going to formations only!
>via anonymous sources
>A very very salty rumor about 40k End Times. From an undisclosed message, it seems End Times will come through this year with another name(s), it will be (translate from spanish) more changes about game system than fluff. Expect to play only formations and the point system will be gone.

So, enjoy.

This list sucks.

This list rocks. The only one I don't agree with is Horus, but it's good enough for me. Also Angron.

Lies, this is oddly the best place for 40k news
Clickbait websites are nothing but that

Hiddleston as Kurze? Garbage casting man. Why cast a witty person as a snarling jerk?

>tfw Malal is gone forever
Feels bad man

Because Hiddleston can do condescending well. Plus, remember when Kurze gets killed by the qt3.14 Assassin? He does a cool monologue about "you kill me, and i'll be right lol". I think he'd be great at it.

>garbage

Come on man :( Bit rude :( Who would you pick? I'm just thinking of 'popular' actors. Hiddleston is liked by girls.

Hi guys, I'm new to the 40k series and wanted to get an army or squad of my own. The grey Knights really caught my and was wondering if they're a good starting point for me.

Is da suppa cybork Gubbinz worth the 50points?
The warboss just feels so weak and flimsy without eternal warrior

Different people have fun in different ways.
While I find bringing a 3 Chapter Master Battle-Forged A-Team list at 1500 points fun, I tend to have more fun playing to win against my opponent while he does the same to me.
When one person brings a serious list and the other one doesn't neither person has much fun.
Try talking to them before hand and coordinating so it doesn't happen.

>Faeit Rumour 2014
>THERE WILL BE A 5th 40k CHAOS GOD
>Carnac screams "IT'S BE'LAKOR! :DDD"

It's OK. The problem is, people get info from elsewhere. Usually from German/Spanish sites. Faeit and Co just use shit for ad revenue. Places like Spikybits regurgitate BoLS stuff. Though I like Spikybits cause they shat on that German guy who is running a massive website where he scans GW content, puts a watermark on it and says it's legal. He got a C&D from GW and he replied, quite literally, "Suck my dicks, I'm not taking it down". He said it's legal cause of German copyright law. He is also financially supported by the German government for "promoting hobbies" or some shit.

No, get the Sons of Malice

GK's are in an iffy spot right now from a competitive standpoint. They are a very melee-focused army in a very gun-focused metagame. Their Dreadknights and Terminators are both pretty good, and they do look the coolest out of any Marine faction.

If you like them, then go for it. Hint: buy your stuff from ebay for a decent discount and free shipping in the U.S. One nice thing is that they aren't very model-heavy, so they're a bit cheaper to purchase.

Who are the sons of malice?

Thanks man I really appreciate it. Do they have any gun options going for them?

>warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Sons_of_Malice

Sorry, that was rude of me.

The issue to me is that Kurze is neither pretty nor a witty guy. Last Heretic he is described as basically a gaunt, soulless looking monster. I would almost prefer swapping him and Benedict Cumberbatch, as Cumberbatch as least is cold and ugly as sin.

If you want to play fluffy, then they're fun. But if you want to win, they're not great.

The sons of Malice.

>guns
Psycannons are okay. They used to be a lot more powerful, but it takes a lot out of points to buy them.

Dreadnoughts can take twin-linked lascannons and shoot stuff from long range. DreadKNIGHTs can get heavy psycannons that are worth it.

You can always take some normal Marines and get a few Devastator Squads to round out your long-range.

Militarum Tempestus scions can deepstrike and take lots of special weapons (plasma/melta/volleyguns)

Imperial Guard have tanks and artillery.

So GK's themselves are not wonderful shots but they know a guy who knows a guy and they can get the right stuff if they need it.

>ugly as sin

dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2441280/Benedict-Cumberbatch-Emma-Watson-voted-SEXIEST-movie-stars-world.html

He isn't that ugly, at least to cinema going audiences, maybe to you.

I want to ask if you're Carnac, I would assume you are.

I think Cumberbatch would do better as Magnus as he can do the smart egomaniac. As for Kurze... Keanu Reeves? He can do cold as well AND do the whole ninja shit.

Edgy even for chaos marines; I like them

They get a decent amount of Instant Death on their guns. This is much less useful than it sounds but it still comes in handy when facing certain types of enemies like Monstrous Creatures.
Otherwise their basic weapons are better versions of the standard Space Marine weapon. You get a lot fewer of the guns however since your units cost more.

They're tamer than the Flesh Tearers quite frankly.

He looks like a fucking horse.

Not Carnac, but that guy must have lit this place on fire if everyone who opines differently then the TG group-think gets associated with him.

I like Reeves for Kurze, seems to fit.

>Flesh Tearers

Fucking pansies.

t. Carcharodons

Ah I see. I think I'll get a terminator squad but what other units would you recommend I also get?

you mean the Space Sharks who were not dark enough for edgy as fuck forge world "muh Carcharodons"

Too bad the guy that made Malal left GW and fucking took him

No no, I just thought it might be him based on the mention of Kurze's description, that's all. I could have just not replied or told you to fuck off. But I didn't. I wanted to talk about it.

As for looking like a horse, he has lots of fans on USA for some reason. I dunno why. I think Reeves would be cool too. Need to have the hair photoshopped onto Reeves.

Or get a good Reeves picture and put it on that picture.

Well, to be honest, lots of stuff has changed. You don't hear about Rainbow Warriors any more, do you? You know, the Chapter which was lead by like 1 Chapter Master and 10 Captains, all in Dreadnoughts or some shit.

Fun fact, Culln, the Red Scorps Chapter Master, gets 'killed' in Imperial Armour 14 and put into a Leviathan Dread.

Grab a Termie squad (or 2) and a Librarian. The nice thing is that technically you don't need 2 troops to run GK's since they have the Nemesis Strike Force. Taking 2 does get you objective secured, though, which is a plus.

A Strike Squad (magnetize them!) or Dreadknight would also be a good idea.

If you haven't already, take a look at their codex in the top of the thread. Build a list before you get anything and we'll tell you if it sucks or not.

Get 2 terminator Squads. You can make 2 squads or convert up a librarian/draigo etc out of them. Also get a dreadknight and some power armor guys. I suggest making half interceptors and half power armor guys if you don't want to magnetize. Then later on you can get more another box of 10 power armor guys, more terminators, another dreadknight and some rhinos

Just saying, Nassir Amit would absolutely DESTROY Tyberos. No question. Hell, even Gabriel Seth would give him a run for his money with a shit ton of S9 Rending attacks at I5 (or I6 if he gets the charge off). Only one would need to get past his saves for Tyberos to get instagibbed.
Both have some cool lore though, no doubt. I'm quite tempted to run a Flesh Tearers/Space Sharks list now. Mainly so I could use a codex that isn't gimped to all hell.

Malal, like squats was fucking lame.

I'm glad that shit is gone.

Hey, man. Here's the list I ran against some Blood Angels and actually won. I don't know what other anons will say or if you'll get any inspiration from it, but it did kind of underperform because by some stroke of luck I rolled 3 6's for my 3 Termie squads to come in from Deep Strike on the first turn, so the Comms Relay was useless that match. I'm sure it will come in handy in a future match.

pastebin.com/v6eiHJKG

this will trigger some people. good job.

You have shit taste, I bet you worship Khorne

He only does 6 attacks. Yes, they're S9 Rending, but they're AP4. Tyberos is in Terminator Armour, meaning 2+ saves. Tyberos also has Pref Enemy: Infantry, meaning Seth is going to suffer from that. Furthermore Seth is only 3+/4+.

It probably would go to Seth though if he got the charge off, simply because, despite Tyberos being able to one hit Seth, it's at I1.

They do have cool lore. I've also wanted to make a FT/Carc list as well. I wanted to know the smallest army I could make with them.

I wanted Seth as Warlord for FT and Tyberos for Carc. I wanted a Ass Terminator DTC bodyguard as well.

I bought a Chaos Terminator Lord just so I could run a knock-off version of this dude in my Sons of Malice army.
Khorne Daemonkin codex works surpisingly well for them too, with Goredrinker being a great Dreadaxe stand-in.

You have a sons of malice army? Post picture

Tyberos and Seth would be a fun team to run, I just wish Seth was more viable.
He's too slow to really go with anything in C:BA besides maybe footslogging Van Vets/Ass Squads. No good reason he's a LOW choice either, especially at his point cost.
I never got how an army that includes Dante or Calgar still needs another HQ to hold down the fort.

So what's the consensus on the Macharius, or at least the Vanquisher variant? I've asked about the Baneblade line and the general consensus was "Overpriced". So now I'm curious about the cheaper superheavies. The Macharus in particular interests me because it has a twin-linked Vanquisher Cannon, 6 HP and 3 HS's. Yet I could just buy 2 actual Vanquishers for less and get 6 HB's and 6 HP combined instead. So the price increase really becomes "Is the ability to stitch to Battle Tank rounds worth the extra price and 50% less AT potential?

Depends. Optimized Stealth Cadre is stupid due to positioning no longer mattering, so if your list includes that, it might still be considered op by some.

This was actually really helpful and appreciate it greatly. I was also thinking about getting a paladin knight but having it done in a grey knight style.

It's only run via proxies. I only have 1 actually Chaos model and he's unpainted, just like my 8250 points of Flesh Tearers and Skitarii. I'm to scared of ruining my models with my shit painting skills to do anything with them. I'm waiting till I get a decent metal model to paint and strip till I git gud.

I really like this set up, I was also planning on maybe getting an imperial paladin knight in a grey knight style and a dreadnougt or 2

No prob. Though, I personally would run a Crusader for more dakka while you wait to get your terminators in from Deep Strike if they don't come in first turn.

I hope you meant dreadknights. Our Dreadnoughts are shit.

Or you can hire a pro painter.

Am i a bad person for not wanting to play against unpainted armies?

Really? They looked cool but seeing the dreadknights I might as well replace the dreadnoughts

Foot Slogging DC? Terminators (yeah they're aren't great, but who cares?)

What a charming fellow.
I'm sure he only collects dead spiders for research purposes.

It depends. Are you open to play smaller games?

If you pretend 1750+ points of full painted armies from anyone, then yes, you kind of are.

Depends, if the guys never paints his shit then no but if he does paint his shit and is in the process of doing so then yes.

I've tried to run footslogging DC before.
They draw fire from literally everyone on the board and I've yet to have them make it to turn 3 alive. Drop podding them in is an option but then you have a decently expensive unit that can't do much besides get shot for a turn,a nd they aren't too resilient. Add in a Chapter Master and you got a very juicy target ripe for the picking. Terminators would be almost just as bad since I think they'd lose their ability to Deep Strike once Seth joins them, making them only viable dropped out of a Storm Raven or Land Raider Crusader/Redeemer, unless Seth joined them later in the battle.

>never had the hardest trip by watching Blackstar of David Bowie

It really takes you out of the game, no doubt. I really dislike fielding my guys gray even against other gray guys.

Planning on going to an escalation event at an LGS that I've never been to before. The first event starts at 500pts, and then increases by 500pts every week. What armies/units do you think I'll run into the most?

because let's be honest, no one is going to make a TV show in [current year] without a bunch of strong women protagonist

this is why i believe we need to allow DC to charge from deep strike i dont think it would break the game to much.

It would work because the primarchs are basically big whiny girls anyways.

nah thats just preference. do whatever you want just don't bitch or brag about it, thats what people hate.

that's fucking dumb. If you say that then every army with deep strike should be able to charge from deep strike then.
