Vietnam

I'm planning a campaign set in 'Nam, and I'm running out of inspiration imagery and music.

I'm already playing White Rabbit and Fortunate Son on repeat, while whistling "Napalm sticks to kids", but that is clearly not enough.

So I need more things related to 'Nam.

Rolling stones sympathy for the devil

Some vaporwave

I really shouldn't have to say it

I'm sure you will be able to find scans of the old RECON and Advanced RECON by Palladium Books.

MACV(SOG) is absolutely the way to go for players characters. Commandos in small teams on secret missions.

Run Through The Jungle is a good one.
Make sure to brush up on your firearms, particularly stuff like the M16 vs M16A1 with Failiure To Fire.

Go watch Hamburger Hill, and The Siege of Firebase Gloria.

You really shouldn't you fucking cancerous /tv/ memeshitter.

Three movies to watch in order, preferably with your players.

Tigerland, Platoon, then Gardens Of Stone. Ought to get everyone set up.

>It ain't me

The CCR song title is in the OP.
Protip: It's not 'it ain't me.'

Bootin:
Barry McGuire, Eve of Destruction

It's a shit /tv/ meme.

>see someone refer to Fortunate Son as "it ain't me"
>it ain't me starts playing

My grandpa joined the Marines in '63 at the age of 18. He tells me stories all the time. It's unimaginable horror, I think. Nothing I've watched or read has ever left me more terrified.

Would you like to get any of those stories off you chest, user?

Names and locations changed to protect the innocent(or not innocent) of course?

Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones
Machine Gun by Jimi Hendrix
War Pigs by Black Sabbath
The Unknown Soldier by The Doors
War by Edwin Starr
Waist Deep in the Big Muddy by Pete Seeger
Bring 'em Home by Pete Seeger
What's Goin' On by Marvin Gaye
I Ain't Marchin' Anymore by Phil Ochs
What Are You Fighting For by Phil Ochs
Masters of War by Bob Dylan
We Gotta Get Out of This Place by The Animals
Universal Soldier by Donovan
The War Drags On by Donovan
I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die Rag by Country Joe and the Fish
Kill Your Sons by Lou Reed
and everything already mentioned in this thread

Oh, and a shitload of other Pete Seeger and Phil Ochs songs. There are too many to list here.

Im the MD of a game of Recon. Lots of casualties, explosives, morally compromising situation and fast pace firefights

Why is Mark Wahlberg there in a tracksuit?

iirc he was drunk and assaulted a vietnamese guy while shouting VIETNAM FUCKING SHITS

Nobody hates charlies more than Marky Mark.

That makes sense, thanks fampai.

no problem

are they removing the belt or was she a martyr?

also see

I think its an unsucessful suicide bombing attempt and they are de-arming it.

>are they removing the belt or was she a martyr?
Looks more like a war crime in progress.

There is no such thing as a "crime" against Communists.

Ah right I thought that but wasnt sure

see here

Being this new

>We Gotta Get Out of This Place by The Animals

>you will never be on khe sahn singing along to the animals while a hundred marines play air guitar

just end it now

apocalypse nao

Watch Full Metal Jacket.

Don't forget paint it black by stones or still in Saigon buy the Charlie Daniels band. that's essential namcore

that mark wahlberg on the right?

Every time I see American ammo cans I can't help but think of this.

That picture reminds of 'Nam traps.
Holy shit, those are creative AND cruel.

That movie had like three good moments:
Gomer, the sniper girl, and the helicopter guy.

>There is no such thing as a "crime" against Communists.

Is that ARVN or a ROK marine?

Pretty sure it is RoK
Vietnam was one of the last if not the last war the US was making and giving out BARs

Heroin and Muhammad Ali.

and they lost

Because of lack of oil.

Everything done by Garth Ennis' Punisher Max. I recommend the miniseries 'Born'.

An excellent choice

Not him, but it's an abstract kind of feel to hear and/or think about grandparents' war stories. My grandpa was conscripted at age of 18 in '41, and it's wierd to think that I, my father, my uncles, my siblings, would not exist if he had been an inch to the left or to the right at some point.

Chemical Warfare by the Dead Kennedys
Warthog by The Ramones
Atom Tan by The Clash
Charlie Don't Surf, too. Pretty much whatever by The Clash actually

bumping off page 10 while I find links....

Redgum: "only 19".

written after, but about the soldiers from australia. gives a very accurate perspective on the survivors.

The Doors: The End

Edwin Starr: War

Simon and Garfunkel: Sound of Silence

Hendrix: All along the Watchtower

Don't forget Search and Destroy - Iggy Pop

I recommend you to read the book "Tiger Force". It's pretty good. Detailing how an elite unit is slowly sliding into madness.

There's also the book "The Things They Carried". It's made of different short stories - some are pretty good. It was the main inspiration for the RPG called "Carry - A Game About War".

Finally, if you like vidyas there's the Vietcong collection. Decent FPS with an awesome soundtrack.

The Oliver Stone's Vietnam War trilogy is worth watching: Platoon, Born on a Fourth of July, Heaven and Earth. Casualties of War is another good movie.

I'd say ARVN or RFPF due to the narrow trouser cut. ROK forces tended to have baggier US style trousers.

ARVN: Life and Death in the South Vietnamese Army, 25 year century & black april the fall of south vietnam are pretty good books on the subject and pretty easy to find online in epub form.

Maybe they shouldn't have given up North Africa so easily.

Get some sabaton playing for music!

More music recs:

>The Animals - Boom Boom
>Spencer Davis Group - Gimmie Some Lovin'

both of those songs were used in psychological warfare campaigns against the Vietnamese

As some other anons have suggested, Project Phoenix and Tiger Force are great sources.

>small unit action in vietnam

there's a story involving a LRRP patrol that came across and devastated an entire brigade of NVA by calling in artillery fire while fleeing into the night that sticks out in my mind
