Curious,
Does your FLGS ban Trading/Sales between customers?
I just got talked to about this, and it just kinda bugs me.

>Attack dogs on premises trained to respond to anyone re-enacting Thriller
Yours is the only one.
>FLGS
Doesn't sound very friendly to me.
Yeah, it also bans smoking. The way around this is you do it outdoors.
>Bans inter-customer sales
>FLGS
Either your playerbase is whipped as hell or they're not going to last long.
>smoking in a card shop
Where the hell do you live?
I mean I get it, they make money off singles, Not just newinbox stuff,
but It's Called a Trading Card game...
you're intended to interact that way
I Totally understand from a legal standpoint/the troubles it can cause... but that wasn't the issue
(I actually gifted the owner some cards someone had noted as possibly valuable, since I didn't give a shit anyways)
It sound super pointless. I'ts not like banning trades in the store will make people not trade (see ), but it will make you seem like an asshole.
>Sales
Yes, you aren't allowed to sell things for $$$ that the store also sells while inside the store, this is basic common sense at any store I've ever been at.
>Trading
Holy fucking shit fuck any store that does this needs to go bankrupt.
My local shop just bans cash trades on singles between players. Owner doesn't care if you trade cards for cards though, just no cash transactions.
That's what I figure in the future,
but I mean, the people Are going to go around your store to trade with each other... why fight it?
shit you could even say you'll record/takeback insurance for a buck or two a trade.
>Where the hell do you live?
Eastern Europe. Smoking is only banned in some restaurants and on public traffic stops (but again, taking two step aside makes it ok).
Ahuh.
The game stores where I live don't limit selling or trading; they simply offer better deals in store credit and end up being the better buyer.
Thanks for giving me someone to talk to /tg,
it just kinda rattled me,
great day otherwise :)
(I mean even if I wanna give away shit for free,
it's my stuff to give,
and it gets your customers happy/excited about the game YOU Sell damnit)
My FLGS has a cabinet where people can put up various junk for sale, and holds large auctions twice a year. So no. The "Trading" aspect of Trading Card Games has always been a part of it, and I can't conceive how a store would do away with that entirely.
>why fight it?
Because if you a-ok it, someone might try to hold you responsible. Imagine soccer mom buys her noisy crotchspawn Jace, the dumb little shit trades with somebody for shiny foil Vizzedrix. Then the little shit changes its mind, wants the deal back, cries to mom, mom storms the store screaming bloody murder that you robbed her dear little angel there and that she wants the money back.
She has no legal claim obviously but the ruckus she makes is bad for business. Comprende?
You can trade, but selling is a gigantic faux pa.
My response as a store owner is that I'm perfectly willing to process a refund.
Where's Jace?
In what universe am I expected to tender a return without the product at hand?
If one of the players at the store took advantage of a player, I'm going to have a short talk with him, one way or the other, about not fleecing kids in my store.
My FLGS used to hold Bartertown nights, where you could bring down any old shit you wanted to offload and trade/sell/buy. They'd dig around in the back room and lay out a bunch of the less used stock or old games they had too. Great days. I'm not sure if they're still doing it. Since I moved I haven't been back more than a handful of times.
My store owner has absolutely no problems with players selling cards for cash during trades. He says 90% of the time that cash ends up in his till anyway.
There was a cool shop in my town that allowed you to trade for shut on the store shelves, but only if they would make a profit on it. Too bad the 62 year old shop owner had a heart attack and died last year. The store went to his son who just sold everything and closed down the shop.
Smoking ruins the fucking books and cards you savage.
