After the kikestarter's completion this game faded from view quite quickly. A shame I like a bunch of the minis and the system that lends itself well to fast combat resolution.

They do have another set coming out soon.

Great ruleset, wish I could convince people to play it.

I love the style but I completely understand why people don't, pains me to say it but the game may have done better with more generic visual style.

The assymetrical objectives just kill the game competitively. I feel like they should have just rebooted Confrontation via kickstarter, as a way of having a pre installed fan base among other things. I agree about the speed though, making games not take an entire afternoon was definitely a drawing point for me.

Slowly working on my fish dudes. There's a couple guys at the local shop interested and building starter boxes. I'm really a fan of the way the game plays, especially coming from warhammer and its massive bloat.

I get the feeling it'll disappear rather quickly, but I might pick up more fish and the piggies before that happens. Some of the factions feel really borked, especially the ability sharing chinamen. Pretty fun so far, though

Loving this model.

>Wrath of Kings
What am I looking at here?

Why is this a unit?

>The assymetrical objectives
Please explain.

This game is only for high test individuals

not him but every army has a list of objectives you can choose from. Stuff like "get to enemy deployment" or "burn down two whatevers"

If you're not careful you might wind up trying to breakthrough the line of paralyzing jellyfish, which makes things a bit annoying, to say the least.

Which is a shame because the asymetrical objectives is one of its strongest points.

It's a solid enough game, but CMON is kinda shit at promotions. They rely entirely on TGN for all their promotional aspects. They used to have Ravage, but they fucked that up so bad that it died like so many magazines before.

Honestly: we just need a tabletop gaming magazine, even if purely digital, that has zero stakes in the game companies. No more of these magazines made by the game companies bullshit.

I like it though its probably not that balanced. Too be fair its not too hard to rejigger the objective system

It's fair if you play to the objectives. Yes you will have a different objective from your enemy, but it adds some flavor to the battles.

It's just a shame that if a game isn't tailored to competitive play, or at the very least adored by the tournament crowd, it seems to get little notice.

I totally plan to grab the two-player starter box and do some demos in my area, though.

Wait, there's a 2 player starter box?

wrathofkings.com/ks/honor-and-treachery-battle-of-ravenwood-two-player-starter-set-now-available/

Yeah. Naiser vs. Goritsi. Ashmen fighting Skorza. Comes with 16 models, dice, stat cards, rules and terrain I think for $60.

I'm looking forward to the Dark Age 2-player set coming out later this year too.

Hm neat. It says it comes with terrain and stuff but none of the pictures show it.

How do you guys base your WoK armies? They have these weird sunken bases, what do you use to fill them with? A

That sounds interesting even if a bit odd.

It makes things interesting for sure, since you've gotta try to get your goals while denying theirs, instead of everyone rushing the same objectives

I'm sculpting rippling sand and plan on adding water effects so my hadross are coming out of the ocean like swamp thing.

I'm really not a fan of the massive bases you see on the studio models. I mean, some are standing on bases 1/3 the height of the actual model!

>What am I looking at here?
Bunny Girls
>Why is this a unit?
Bunny Girls

Low test detected.

So, how do they look at the same side than other minis? They look 28mm but you never now.

The game takes an odd approach to a lot of standard stuff. Like army composition, there's no points, each side has an allotment of dudes, and each model takes so many of these dudes. Right now its limited to mostly 1 to 1, but the bigger models like the werewolves or that guy on the dragon take 2.

Its kinda like chess, but you can trade out your 2 Knights for a dragon.

they're more like 32s, they're on 30mm bases. Not quite heroic scaled on proportions but not really true either.

>What am I looking at here?
A pretty good unit in my experience, Howls on the other hand I found kind of underwhelming.

Their shieldwall ability is pretty great, but that exploding octopus zombie baby the pigs get is wonderful for melting them

I played a demo at a convention last year. I was sad the whole day that I didn't like it.

It's a shame that it's completely unbalanced. Hard counter Pokemon level.

Throughout prerealse they claimed that Hadross was the most defensive faction and would play one way and in the demo I played they were the complete opposite.

I wanted to like it, but I guess that saved me a pretty penny.

I feel the same way. I still use the figures in Kings of War as I like their design, but the gameplay really leaves a lot to be desired compared to other skirmish games on the market.

>Weird sunken bases
Aren't they just on your standard lipped bases? Like Warmachine, Warzone, MERCS and a few other games?

> Right now its limited to mostly 1 to 1, but the bigger models like the werewolves or that guy on the dragon take 2.
You have to trade 2 level 1 guys for a single level 2 guy. Each army has level 2 infantry, so there's plenty of trading up.

>Throughout prerealse they claimed that Hadross was the most defensive faction and would play one way and in the demo I played they were the complete opposite.
I can see that being frustrating. I never listen to that sort of shit because I'm going to play my army however I want. I pick the army for the look, and then play however I feel works well for me. Probably why I have a hard time with games that try to squeeze armies into these narrow categories of "swarm army" "glass cannon" and other shitty terms.

The terrain is flat cardboard punchouts - no real thickness - they are labeled with what they do and their corresponding height.

Which works since the game doesn't use TLoS.

Good. Fuck TLoS.

I agree. Kills me when a game can be so solid but then has TLoS. It's always a "But you were doing so well!" moment.

Meh, I like TLoS.

The bases have a slightly smaller inner circle thats also almost as deep as the lip is raised. If you don't fill the base with something everyones ankle deep in base lip.

>Hard counter Pokemon level.
I don't see that but ok. I'll give you the hadross thing though, they're more of a debuff faction than anything else. (nasier has counter attacks and teknes tends to be tankier I feel)

I played a couple games of wrath of kings and it was great. The only problems are the lack of player base and some of the model overhang is stupid. Great rules though. Kind of a miniature gamers casual game which is nice considering fucking every other wargame is about competitive players.

I might pick up an army but still can't figure out which army want to play

Explain, please.

inb4 low test

I don't know what to tell you other than that my Deepmen got straight up fucked by a bunch of werewolves and my resistance was almost nonexistent. It sure didn't feel fair.

The guy that was supposed to be teaching us I guess figured we had enough of a grasp and got lazy...started speaking some sort of European with another guy and left us on our own.

You'll have to excuse me if I don't put much stock in your judgment about balance when it's based on a single passing experience with the game.

It's a Veeky Forums meme, low test means than you have low levels of testosterone. In fit high test is asociated with curvy girls, you know, the ones with luscious hips, ass, tighs and tits. THen some people posted hambeast trying to pass them as high test material, and chubbycahsers rejoiced so that's the joke.

Sounds more like a shit demo as opposed to a shit game.

I had the same experience with Dust, the guy didn't seem to get that playing against some mega shit hot deep striking Russian army that completely ragged the Germans he let me use wasn't the best intro to the game.

That just sounds like it was badly run.

Although, there is a bit of truth to what you played. Hadross is the defensive army, but that is dependent on how the army works. If you don't have something that shows off how the Resonance mechanic works correctly, it would feel like they are made of paper.

i need to put my units together - this Total War Warhammer has sucked out all the time ever possible - is the yugest time sink - only masturbation comes a close second.

This set would have been so much better with the Teknes. Edgy Usagi Yojimbo wannabe vs Confrontation's Wulfen ripoffs. Much wow.

Nothing is ever better with Teknes.

I like the Ashmen, so that's one of my main draws to it.

I would have prefered Naiser vs. Hadross since those are the two factions I like most.

A bit off the friendo. In Veeky Forums, high test means you will hump just about anything, including hamplanets. Calling someone low test is an insult, but it's not. It's like saying "haha you have standards"

Scooby 4lyfe

>"haha you have standards"
The internet in a nutshell when it comes to women.

What's the status of this game? Are they going to release any other miniatures or books?

Book 2 is in the works. We've seen new models for a few of the factions already, like

Dumping some pins of the new minis from the CMON expo.

SHARK KNIGHTS SHARK KNIGHTS

JFC, SHARK KNIGHTS

Hadross has always had shark knights. Now they are getting shark gladiators.

Is this game for furries?

Sounds about right

The werewolves are successors to Wolfen, which is great for those who thoroughly enjoy the yiff.

Yes, also chubby chasers.

It like it was tailor made for me!

But are there chubby waregirls?

There are the Pelegarth Howls. Close enough, I guess.

UHHHHH THICKER!!!

Nice, we have prices for them?

OH, we will have lizardmen now for WoK? Me likes.

Be book you mean the novella? It was quite good. Like a lot better than a lot of other novellas from other games.

Most likely more story, model profiles, and probably errata.

I like that the story is being determined by convention tournaments.

What about their cards? I'm interested in seeing how these guys differ from the frenzies

Damn those new Hadross models make me drools. So fucking sweet.

I can't wait to see what Teknes gets too. My two favorite factions are Hadross and Teknes.

Been a bit too much Hadross and Goritsi, really. Barely anything has been shown of the other house.

Any news about the Nasir? I really like those masked freaks.
