As a cheap skate trying to get into war gaming, I plan on using cheap green army men type things to use as proxies for another war game to get some friends into the medium.
Any idea what game would be easy to play given limited resources? Ideally it'd be more skirmishy than army based, Warmachine and Hordes caught my eye but I don't really know the scene too well.
a couple. two off the top of my head are A Song of Blades and Heros and it's varients, which just needs 8 reaper minis for both side to play. Or Angry miniatures, one that only need 3 dude to play for both side, but requires poker dice.

Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack.
Uses Legos.
Noah Barnes
Me and my friends use W40k rules and army men.
Chase Walker
I did consider this but wasn't sure what a good point limit would be for a beginner game.
Colton Wood
Small amounts. 500 or at most 1000 points, depending on what army you use.
Evan Rivera
Never played it, but how about Combat Storm? It's designed for green and tan army men.
Connor Roberts
>Implying Lego aren't almost as expensive. I love those little bricks, but they can drain a wallet quicker than a strip club.
Oh I love Bolt Action. It's different and doesn't require more than 5-10 models each.
James Green
did they ever explain why the only female character looked like a normal girl with green hair?

You could also invest a few bucks and buy from one of the bajillion cheap manufacturers out there. There is a point of going cheap where your army just looks like complete dogshit, and in a hobby where the looks are at least a third of the fun, you are robbing youself of that.
Look at manufacturers. Look at historicals. Look at 15mm, 10mm or 6mm scale. There are tons of miniatures out there that look decent or even great at a good price, you won't get anyone into the hobby with fucking army men.
John Reyes
She paints herself up.
Jason Moore
Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet.
Zachary Gonzalez
>plot twist, she was actually the little girl who played with her toy soldiers and the games are just her imagination
>the darker sequels are just a metaphor for her growing older
Julian Cox
Don't. a box of wargamesfactory ww2 minis is like, 30$. Get that, and some matchbox jeeps and you're golden. Play bolt action. though there are systems for green army guys.
Benjamin Hernandez
She's a Barbie.
Juan Gomez
Oh poor fluffies, I couldn't save you from the abuse.
Brayden Baker
Now I like BA, but this isn't entirely true. You'll usually field about 30 guys to a side, plus a tank of some sort.
I mean, bare minimum for Brits would be 11 or so guys.
Caleb Lewis
>hugboxer pls go sorry, force of habit. but still, A song of blades and heros pretty nice, 8 bucks for the book, and 20 bucks for the minis Bolt action is pretty awesome as well.
On the subject of Army Men, where's the best place to pick up Army Men in bulk? Some friends and I wargame with the few sets we have but everywhere nearby that sells army men only has overly expensive ones.
