>And never, ever cut a deal with a dragon

Howling Shadows is available in the pastebin. People are salty about not being able to buy critters, or be drakes if using priority-gen. Discuss!

I'm salty about how little attention was paid to existing lore on drakes.

How do you figure that? From what I've seen, the PC drakes are bred drakes, rather than true ones. That means they're metahumans that can shift into dracoform, rather than the reverse.

Okay, so aparently the way you're intended to get critters is to go and shoot them with stick and shock and shove them into cages
Does this mean we're pokemon now?

Even if that's true, there's still the issue of retconning drakes to not innately have dragonspeak and to be able to talk, and everyone knows far, far less about them here than they did in previous editions. For instance, they don't even acknowledge the distinction between true and bred drakes,

Yeah, that's exactly what it means.

If I had a character that was all about protecting children and actively hunted down pedophiles/child abusers, could I use the Prejudice negative quality against those groups?

PCs shouldn't have critters you knob. You want a pet class play D&D or something. This is a monster manual for killing shit.

I feel like having a prejudice against pedophiles and child abusers is just "being a not completely shitty person". I think the Poor Self Control quality would be a better fit, you have to maintain composure not to immediately flip your shit in rage.

Nah we pokemon now.

Which edition has the best* fluff?
1E?
2E?
3E?

*(4E and 5E need not apply.)

How many GMs will avoid using infected because they know that their PCs will willingly get infected as a free power up?

>bringing child abuse into a game for any reason whatsoever
Do you want to get kicked out of your gaming group?

3rd had some very good Fasa books and some awful Fanpro books so I am going to give this to 2e by a narrow margin.

No GM in their right mind is going to let you derail a game by allowing you to hunt down pedophiles in your spare time.

If your background isn't really fun for everyone to explore and child abuse is super not fun then it's basically like forcing your gaming group to attend a therapy session

>free

Not in 5e, chummer.

>If the character has any unspent Karma at that point, it needs to be spent paying off the cost of the acquired quality.
>If the character does not have enough unspent karma to pay that amount, they need to spend all the karma they earn on the quality until it is fully paid off.

Run Faster, pg 134-135.

If it's a free power up, you're doing it wrong. Being dual natured all the time is pretty rough, and there's the whole bounty on your head thing, lots of people even in the shadows who won't want to work with you, the need to kill metas to survive...it's a big price for some attribute bonuses and neat powers.

>love the basic setting of Shadowrun
>have a love-hate relationship with the mechanics
>loathe 99% of the splat-inclusions like matrix ghosts, alternative special snowflake metatypes and worse
Fuck.

Then don't include them, its a tabletop game. You're supposed to use what you love and drop what you hate.

You can just play Core, you know.

There's nothing wrong with that, and it's probably the best thing to do with a group new to the system,

I just noticed the stirrup interface for critter augmentation in the new book

Can... can it be used on people too?

The pseudo-official statement is probably going to be 'no, because reasons', and it'll be up to the GM to handle it.

>neo-Anonymoose: the character

Great, I'm now picturing a dwarf sniper riding a troll like some pompous English aristocrat safari hunter.

I now have my next character planned.

Fuck off. Veeky Forums does whatever for whatever reason. It's not driven enough to actually devote itself to stopping pedos, but neither does it uniformly support them.

Well, we haven't supported them since the removal of /l/ at any rate.

You can find a link to pizza floating around the boards if you know when and where to look, but the mods have gotten more skilled at stopping it.

This is for a NPC, I don't plan on making the PCs persue child abusers.

I don't even use Veeky Forums for pizza anymore. There are easier ways.

> splitting your oldfluff by edition
Naw.

How do SINs work exactly? Are they a chip implanted in you, in your commlink, or is it just a card?

So, I ended up on the wikipedia page for Tachikawa-ryu by some sequence of events, and now I want to make a character with this as her tradition.

Especially since the existence of the Skull Ritual offers the perfect plot hook to begin walking a Twisted path.

They're a special file in your commlink and a collection of biomedical/credential/financial/criminal records in whatever databases the issuing authority (Megacorp, government, whatever) deems to store them.
If a cop pulls you over and checks your SIN, they'll get your name, date of birth, medical history, educational history, employer, criminal history, credit rating, account numbers, and potentially even stuff like recent purchases.

What uniform is that? It looks kinda finnish, but I'm not copmletely ceratin.

Historically, stirrup interfaces don't work on aware human beings. Works fine on wimps though.

Internet says Israeli IDF.

Clapistanian weapon, clapistanian pattern
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M81_Woodland
It's either burgerese or possibly kikelandian. What the attention whore suggests is a possible explanation, since that's an old upper receiver that lacks a brass deflector. Kikes probably have taken old M16 uppers and slapped a short barrel on there.

Finland uses M62, M91 and M05 camouflage patterns and AK-based RK62 and RK95. None of those match.

I guess my brain mostly invented it then. My only counter-source is the Dragonheart Saga, where Ryan Mercury instantly has access to dragonspeak after his transformation but not regular speech. It also makes logical sense that all dracoforms would have similar biology.

Hey guys, i'm looking at rolling a mage and the books explanation on character gen has me confused. Basically I know how to roll adepts and msyadepts but i'm looking more towards a shaman or hermetic mage. In the character creation part of the book it mentions mages and aspected magicians, how do they differ, and do both have to take/can take, a tradition, or what's the deal?

Aspected Magicians have access to a singlre aspect of Magic (Hurr!); either Summoning, Alchemy or Spellcasting.

REAL mages can do it all, "at once" (*), and they can astrally project.

(*) by at once, I mean a mage can have a Spirit at his side and an alchemical prepartion ready in his hands while he casts a spell. He cannot do and summon a spirit and prepare something and sling a spell all at the same time.

Something I never got about Shadowrun: why are all the megacorps entirely new entities? Like, what happened to the major military contractors we already have?

Did every single Lockheed facility on the planet burn down? Did people just decide they didn't need jets anymore?

bought out or merged, usually.

Lockheed is an AA corp.

shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Lockheed
They're a AA megacorp. Generally speaking, the difference between a AA and a AAA is that a AA is REALLY good at doing one thing, while a AAA has equivalent capabilities in multiple fields.

I'm really, really sorry. I tried to make something awesome, and it's possible I may have been playing too much Fire Emblem Fates at the time and...Blurgh.

I'm sorry. Next time I get an assignment I'll come here and ask what I need to read to really get the subject.

Welp, that shut me up. Thanks for the correction. They've never been mentioned in one of the games I've been a part of.

It's actually a pet peeve of mine. People always keep running for or against the big 10 and the smaller corps get no attention. AAs running against each other, or trying to eat up As, or nibbling parts of AAAs would make a lot of sense. AAs are extraterritorial as well, so they would mechanically play the same as the big 10.

Don't worry. You can't ruin what was already bad.

Oh man, that one is OOOLD. I remember the sidebar!

So I'm going through some corps and nations on SR wiki, ended up on Finland through Erika, and noticed that it says "Mono-corporate parliamentary republic", and then the wiki lists S-K corporate presence. On the text for Erika though, it's said that Erika was one of the parts which formed NeoNET after Crash 2.0, and Erika obtained most of the corps in the country. So it would make sense that NeoNET had a lot of presence in there.

So... What gives? Is Finland mono-corporate in the lore? Does S-K or NeoNET have a lot of presence there? What's going on?

Plus a lot of big companies we have today might not like being put into a game. Copyrights on the name and all.

Eh. McHugh's never had a problem with it.

>tfw you will never pet the qt werewuff as he blushes

Yes.

More accurately, you can have your SIN broadcast by your commlink, have an implanted chip that broadcasts it, or carry a card with a chip that broadcasts it.

>he
Omae, I...

We're living in an open-minded dystopian future, boys can be QTs too.

...

Ears not pointy enough. 6/10.

?

Better.

Look at him. Look at him and tell me he's not a qt.

...

Is she an elf or not? I can't tell.

Chummers, I meant that you seemed to imply that Little Mac is a guy, which is wrong

You can see the tip of one of her ears, and it's round.

There is a gay go-gang called the leather devils

Gay as fuck then.

You're not wrong.

Playing an edge oriented adept face in an action oriented game.

Debating on using long-arms, cause our team is an assault-rifle Rigger that can't talk his way out of a paper bag and a chainsaw wielding Troll with 1 CHA.

...

Kinda jumped the gun on that one so I'm politely saging.

I meant to also ask what some of your opinions would be. I'm trying to bring something to the team that isn't there.

Is your troll's running name "Leatherface", by any chance?

...

Elves are the elfiest. Why do humans even exist anymore?

Sometimes you'll want to be close-ish to people in order to talk to them, though. Sniper rifles are kind of a specialist implement in SR, although shoguns are less so. Automatics are generally the most relaible weapons, although you could probably make a combat build that isn't melee or archery work without too much difficulty.
And you are bringing something different to the team by not being a char 1 autist. You don't NEED to have a unique combat style, too, because combat presumably isn't your focus, talking is.

Gotta have SOMEONE to do the types of work elves don't want to do.

Longarms sucks. Pick up automatics and use a long barreled assault rifle for long range work. Or ask your GM if you can use automatics when firing snipers

Orks and Dorfs.

Shotguns ignore armor

Orks should just die off desu. You're right about the dwarves, though. More efficient than humans that way, too.

To breed with all the elf girls because the elf boys are off sucking ork cock.

Can't you just ask him to use longarms for ARs, then?

Lolwut?

Orks can be plumbers and cleaners. Let dorfs be the engineers. Even though Dwarves are not as refined or brilliant as elves, they do quality work and deserve credit for that. Don't you think?

But then you can't use machine pistols.
Orks are super gross though.

If you're talking about that build from a couple of threads ago, I'm actually the dude that posted it. He's using it because I recommended it to him and he wants a change of pace.

I know that automatics are really good. A real friggin' staple for combat. But the game we're playing seems to be close and aggressive. I was wondering if doing shotties with the option of snipers (mainly the Crocket, cause that thing is retardedly good) would be a good alternative to automatics. I've got Hawk-Eye, simply to make shotguns a little bit better than 15 meters of sadness.

Thanks for the suggestion.

What? I'm reading the rules here and I don't see that. All I can see is shotguns making it really hard for people to avoid damage with the flechette spread stuff.

Sure, I'd allow it. But automatics also covers things like machine pistols which are clearly no longarms.

Ask to use longarms for machine pistols, too.

What? How does that make any sense? It's a pistol.

Oh yes they are, which is why we want them out of sight. Somewhere like the sewers, where they can do their necessary work on the plumbing.

I heard you talking shit like I wouldn't find out

Cute girl orks that have clearly gone through Metatype Reduction are pretty enough to be exempt.

Are those anchors or jacks?

Cute troll?

Looks more like a regular human with a very minor SURGE mutation and large breast implants.

>no muscle
>no dermal deposits
>no tusks
No troll.

Hey, no worries, Mac. I'm actually kind of ok with how Drakes turned out. They've always been the turd of Shadowrun, and considering you were handed the biggest turd polishing job in the world, they shine like a star.

Metatype reduction.

How can you tell? She's covered neck to toe in kimono.

Tusks are not easy to hide, especially with a kimono.

Obviously I was not referring to the tusks. Christ, do I need to greentext everything?
