Urban Oni Quest 19

Your name is Amy Nakamura, a 17 year old void Oni, and you’re in a bit of a mess. You, your cousin and Trish are about 150 yards away from a faerie who’s doing SOMETHING ominous at a house close to Trish’s. Your Oni blood is boiling at the chance to fight fae again, not that you’d admit that out loud to anyone…

Anyway, you have to do something! Who knows what that pixie jackass is doing over there.

“Hmm, we out number him, but I’m not sure pissing him off is a good idea.” Trish says at your left. Yuki’s ears are working overtime as she stands on your right, twitching all over the place.

>I say we get him, damn the consequences!

>Yuki? What’s up?

>Yeah you’re probably right Trish (Internal REEEE)

>Write-in?

I try to add write-ins to the post if they’re applicable to the situation, shitposting write-ins will be ignored unless they are genuinely funny and can be added.

Try to have fun!

>Yuki? What’s up?
Are there more we aren't seeing or something?

>Yeah you’re probably right Trish (Internal REEEE)

Pixie gangs don't fuck around.

>Yuki? What’s up?

>Yuki? What’s up?

>Yuki? What’s up?

Alrighty, let's get started.

How're y'all doing?

Doing great, and yourself? Been trying out Overwatch and sucking hard at every character!

That's just growing pains, you'll get better.

And I've been worse

You glance at your cousin’s twitching fox ears and her face, which is currently screwed up in concentration.

“Yuki, what’s up? You hearing something?” You ask her.

“I’m not entirely sure. I can FEEL what he’s doing, but I’m not sure WHAT it is.”

“Do you hear or sense anymore?” Trish asks her after a brief pause.

“No, I’m pretty sure he’s the only one.”

“This doesn’t solve our ‘what do we do about the fucking pixie’ problem that we have.” You tell the two of them.

“I’m having some problems figuring out what we should do.” Trish replies. “You aren’t exactly making it easy for me.”

“I’m not sure why we care, like, he hasn’t done anything to us.” Yuki says.

“Amy got mixed up with a few of them a while back. She’s getting jumpy.” Trish tells her as you snort at her characterization of you.

>Isn’t him being a Fae enough justification for me to hit him a few times?

>Well… I’ve got nothing, except: hit ‘em.

>I could try to use the void again, dunno if it’ll do anything.

>Write-in?

>>I could try to use the void again, dunno if it’ll do anything.

>I could try to use the void again, dunno if it’ll do anything.

>Isn’t him being a Fae enough justification for me to hit him a few times?
>I could try to use the void again, dunno if it’ll do anything.

Writing.

Wait I forgot, 3d10 please. DC 7 for basic info

Rolled 9, 3, 5 = 17 (3d10)

Rolled 7, 7, 4 = 18 (3d10)

Can I get a third roll?

Rolled 10, 5, 10 = 25 (3d10)

This is why we roll three times. I hope that someone didn't roll twice...

Writing.

Hoo boy

“Well I could try using the void again… Maybe it’ll help us?” You tell them.

“It doesn’t always work? Yuki asks.

“It’s hard to explain, let’s say it’s just finicky.”

“She means she has no idea what she’s doing.” Trish tells her as your cousin giggles prettily.

Bah, what does Trish know?

You take a deep breath and enter the void again, and this time, you see EVERYTHING. Well, everything on the street at any rate. You can even see the kami, no… Spirits, of everything on the street. The fae’s magic is actually interacting with some of them in that house. One particularly powerful one in fact. It’s pretty angry, you can feel the rage and power coming off of it in waves.

But… It’s being suppressed, no not suppressed, released.

Oh, you can see it now. The spirit was once alive, it was a person… The Fae is letting her go, actually, more like making her move on.

How the hell can he do that?

You open your eyes to the expectant gazes of your tiny posse.

>What Say?

The fae is releasing some major big and bad spirit in that house. I say we whoop it's ass and hopefully we dont have to try and go ghostbuster on the spirit.

awwww, yeah

Seconded

user, no. This isn't really the time for jokes.

>What Say?

I think he's ghostbusting. There's an angry ghost in that house and he's putting it to rest

>user, no. This isn't really the time for jokes.
It is ALWAYS the time for making light of the situation.

I'll give it a bit more time.

Actually didn't read right, Deleting this vote and seconding

But that's not what he's doing at all?

Yeah, I know. I'm watching a show while reading, some reason I read it as the fae was trying to control and make havoc

To be fair to you, it's a fae, so assuming it's a worthless piece of shit is universally correct for one reason or another. It's just not correct through that particular vector. Right now.

Alrighty I think I got the gist.

I really wanna use the Zuul joke... Can I?

Sure.

Yes

I'd rather not, but whatever, it's your choice.

If you don't I'll be mad.

>Y

Go for it

Alrighty let's rock.

Time to get hit by tiny lord fists for being stupid

Adorable, so worth it.

I regret nothing.

You make your face as blank as possible before you start to speak in a booming (relatively quiet) voice.

“THERE IS NO MORE AMY, THERE IS ONLY ZUUL!” You say, right before you feel tiny fists slam into your side.

“Read the damn mood, idiot. Be serious.” Trish tells you as she continues to hit you ineffectually. You snort and then return to your previous sober demeanor.

“Sorry, anyway, he’s messing with the Spirits around here.”

“Wait like ghosts? I would’ve felt any ghosts around here.” Yuki says

“Well, no, more like kami but not. It’s weird.”

“So spirit in the Native American sense?” Trish ventures.

“Yeah, that works, those kinds of spirits. Well those, and a seriously pissed off ghost. Well what I think is a ghost.” You tell them.

“That doesn’t make sense, I would’ve like, heard it.” Yuki says, her face drooping into a slight pout.

“I dunno what to tell you Yuki, it’s what I saw.” You say as your Lord and your cousin start pondering what you just told them.

>I’m going to go ask him what he’s doing, seems to be the easiest way.

>Let’s just leave him alone, he’s putting the spirit to rest.

>I still wanna go hit ‘em, you know, it’s the principle of the thing.

>write-in?

>I’m going to go ask him what he’s doing, seems to be the easiest way.

>>I’m going to go ask him what he’s doing, seems to be the easiest way.
We're likely already on their radar. Might as well see if we can get any info. Our lady should stay behind with our cousin for protection. Don't want them getting wind of her for as long as possible

>I’m going to go ask it what it’s doing, seems to be the easiest way.

>I’m going to go ask it what it’s doing, seems to be the easiest way.

Well that was pretty clear cut, writing

I just realized I need a roll.

3d10 please

Rolled 4, 2, 7 = 13 (3d10)

Diplomacy a-go-go

Rolled 3, 5, 1 = 9 (3d10)

I kinda want to fail so we have a fight, so naturally I'm going to get a critical success.

Rolled 4, 10, 8 = 22 (3d10)

Rolled 1, 8, 5 = 14 (3d10)

Good, good. Writing

“I’m just going to go talk to him. I’m tired of pussy-footing around.” You declare as you start to walk.

“Do you really think that that’s a good idea?” Yuki asks as she looks frantically between you and Trish.

“No, but it’s the only idea her muscle addled brain can come up with.” Trish says, then she softens her gaze for a second and adds: “be careful, alright? You’re the only Oni samurai I have.” You can’t help but chuckle at her serious demeanor.

“It’s me we’re talking about here.”

“That’s what I’m worried about…” You make your way down the street to the Faerie, not bothering to conceal your presence. Without Yuki’s Glamour up it’s a lot easier to see in the dim light, a bit of a blessing if you’re being honest. You read somewhere that Oni have good low-light vision, but you don’t seem to. Maybe it’s only in certain kinds of Oni? Anyway, you can see the Faerie better now and… Wow, he’s super handsome. Not even in that twinky vein the other Fae were, just pure all American looking hunk. Silver hair accentuates his chiseled face, and light stubble covers his cheeks and chin.

Wait, no, bad Amy. Pull yourself together. How’re you going to broach this….

>How’s it going?

>What’re ya doing you pixie shithead.

>Good evening, whatcha doing.

>Write-in?

Sorry, dishes

>What’re ya doing you pixie shithead.

>>Good evening, whatcha doing.

"You know it's nowhere near Halloween yet right?"

>What’re ya doing you pixie shithead.

>How’s it going?

>How’s it going?

On second thought, change to:
>What’re ya doing you pixie shithead.

>What’re ya doing you pixie shithead.

>>Good evening, whatcha doing.

>>Good evening, whatcha doing.

"You know it's nowhere near Halloween yet right?"

Remade mine, forgot to turn of the name.

>>Good evening, whatcha doing.
Playin' footsie with a ghost?

Called, counting.

Looks like traditional Oni greeting has it by one. Writ'an

“HEY! WHATCHA DOING YOU PIXIE SHITLORD?!” You yell when you get about 40 feet away. The fae for his part just kind of glances back at you before resuming his, whatever he’s doing.

Rude

“I was talking to you, what are you doing over here?” You ask again when you get a bit closer. He just ignores you again before…

*FLASH*

A wave of light washes over you and everything stops. Then it recedes and you don’t feel his magic anymore. You quickly glance around to check your surroundings, and then you see the fae. Sitting on the ground, looking incredibly winded. He’s even panting a little.

>Errr… Are you alright?

>Well you gonna answer me cunt waffle?

>Sit down next to him, wait a bit.

>Write-in?

>Errr… Are you alright?

>>Well you gonna answer me cunt waffle?
Keep up dat oni talk

>Well you gonna answer me cunt waffle?

>Errr… Are you alright?

>Well you gonna answer me cunt waffle?

>>Errr… Are you alright?

>Well you gonna answer me cunt waffle?

>Well you gonna answer me cunt waffle?
I'd rather not wait around, and I couldn't give less of a shit if it's okay, so...

>Errr… Are you alright?

Called and counting.

Er, been writing. Forgot to tell you.

Welp I'm crashing. Thanks for running Strike. Stop bullying Eail in anonkun! He gets enough from the anons.

“Well, you gonna answer me cunt waffle? The hell were you doing?” You ask the apparently exhausted fae, as you pointedly ignore him taking off his jacket and shirt. Y-you are NOT looking at his filthy faerie abs either, no sir.

“I felt that spirit writhing in agony, I couldn’t ignore it. So I led it to rest.” He pauses a second to take another deep breath. “It was, very very angry. So much pain, so much misery. I could feel her miles away.”

“But why did you, y’know help her.” You ask him, honestly puzzled. You’d never have expected a fae to just… HELP someone for nothing. He stays quiet for a bit longer, then looks up at you and meets your gaze. His eyes are a smooth amethyst color.

“So cynical, for one so young… Is it not our duty as part of this world to help those who cannot help themselves? Is it not what we do as loving beings?” Wow, he sounds like a priest.

>What’s your name pixie?

>So that’s it? The spirit is at rest?

>Write-in?

Thanks man, have a great night.

>>So that’s it? The spirit is at rest?

then after

>What’s your name pixie?

>So that’s it? The spirit is at rest?

>So that’s it? The spirit is at rest?
>What’s your name pixie?

>So that’s it? The spirit is at rest?

>So that’s it? The spirit is at rest?

Writing

ah the wonders of Oni diplomacy.

“So that’s it? The spirit is at rest now?”

“Aye, I helped her move on. I bit forcefully true, but, she was going to kill someone eventually, they always do. Human spirits are such delicate things, without their body they’re subjected to the full forces of passion.”

“What does that even mean?” You ask, he just smiles in response.

“Their body allows them to temper their feelings, when a spirit is loose it is typically stuck in the way it was lost.”

>…How did you even do that?

>How does a Faerie know so much about human souls?

>Write-in any questions you have?

>How does a Faerie know so much about human souls?
>…How did you even do that?

No questions, leave.

>How does a Faerie know so much about human souls?
>…How did you even do that?

Second

This has been a disappointing mystery box

>How does a Faerie know so much about human souls?

Yeah, think I'm going to third leaving. Neither of those questions matter to me and we've wasted enough time that could've been spent having cute sleepover antics with the characters I/we've been waiting weeks to see.
