DICE THREAD

DICE THREAD.

I'm in the market for some new dice.
Links to neat sets for sale would be nice.
The general purpose of this thread is to ogle dice though
(or whatever other physical items associated with the games you play)

Lurking bc dice fetish

OP here.
Really don't have many pictures.

These are probably the slickest, even though you'd need to be gentle while rolling them
Also my last photo

Currently using this set, Q workshop's Dwarven Dice.

These kanji dice are nice: minimalist and apparently wooden.

I don't know if Artisan Dice still makes them, though; or even what their price is.

Fuck, woops, I uploaded the wrong kanji dice. I'm talking about pic related.

These are laser etched bison horn dice from Artisan Dice.

These guys make a ton of stuff, titanium dice, resin infused bone dice, and tons of kinds of wood.

Forgot pic.

>Participate in their kickstarter in 2013, order quite a bunch of stuff - a full polyhedral set, a bunch of 2d6's, and a flame polished titanium d20
>Its fucking 2016 and i am still waiting.

>wooden

What am I saying? Stone.

You try contacting them?

While they do look nice, you will either never get what you paid for or if it comes in, it won't look like the picture. I had a friend who ordered some pink ivory dice, because royal zulu wood is some sick shit and it looked more like bloodwood.

Pass the controller bro

Apparently they "were crafted out of more than twelve species of wood." I was right the first time.

artisandice.com/order/kanji-dice/.

that D4 is always some sick shit if it wasn't the size of a chiclet.

Why do you guys always start these threads with these awful looking dice?

Oh, certainly. Apparently they took more in KS preorders than they could swallow. They had to slowly go through different material types, encountering difficulties on every step.
As far as i remember, they only started with metal ones like in late 2014. And for these, they had to order a new laser for etching laser, which took a bunch of months. Then they found out it was not strong enough to etch titanium dice because of titanium's hardness and heat resistance. So they ordered a new one and it took ages to deliver it again.

Supposedly though, the project is near finished and there are only very few people with these exotic preorders who are still waiting for delivery.

I got these bad boys for shadowrun. My dick is always erect when I roll them and they go everywhere.

my dice ain't nothing special but i can make a sweet color wheel with them and honestly that's all that matters

>double six
For what purpose? Do you really like when they roll all over the place?
>shadowrun
>14 dice
Eh.

...

I have 28 now, and yes the chaos makes my cock so hard I burst all over the damn table.

Well, I hate to be that guy, but backing anything DOES come with some amount of risk.
Hope it works out for you though, doesn't sound like they're being malicious about it. Just underestimated how much people like dice I guess

If there's cum on the table I'm pretty sure that would affect your ability to roll dice on said table.

Gonna need you to roll a raw 20 to see if the jizz stops your dice.

Rolled 16 (1d20)

sweet jizz covered dice mama!

You manage to successfully roll the dice. However, the dice you manage to roll onto the table are now covered in semen.

Can I have you make a perception check?

dicequest when?

What's the heaviest dice I can buy? is depleted uranium safe to handle?

Jus' mark 20 numbers on ur mum and push 'er over bruv.

I'd never seen this company before. Wood of all kinds (mostly rare), horn, amber, bone. Very cool. Their "full polyhedral set" is exactly what I consider to be a proper 10-dice poly set: 1d4, 4d6, 1d8, 2d10, 1d12, 1d20. Basically enough to play D&D well, and lots of other games passably well.

I can't speak to the quality and their own FAQ warns you it'll take forever and cost an arm and a leg. But wow.

What's a good material for dice?
Up until now I'd use an app on my phone, because I'm relatively new to the hobby.
Now that I know I like it and that I'll be playing every Friday I'm going to buy some sets.

I've used friends dice before and I don't really like plastic ones. They feel really chintzy and unsatisfying.
What's a good material if you want a nice weight and sound to it?

...

Please please please do not get depleted uranium anything that you intend to handle. It is depleted in the sense that it is no longer feasible to process for its radioactive material, it does not mean that it isn't radioactive. It is. And simply handling depleted uranium ammunition has been implicated as a significant cause of cancer in the military in the last several decades.

Those look plastic and cheap as fuck.
I go beach combing alot so I have a shit ton of varying agates and quartz, bout to get into polishing and shaping, considering making some dice.

Shaping quartz takes some serious fucking tools

It's stained glass though.

Pity it looks like stained plastic panels. Honestly doesn't matter what the materials are if the design is bunk.

It is not dangerously radioactive by any means.

It is however a heavy metal and as such it is extremely toxic. It is prone to chipping and inhaling dust or ingesting bits will cause major lung and kidney problems.

It's not "dangerous" in the sense that it is an immediate threat to your well being, no. But it's not healthy to repeatedly handle.

Actually doing designs on the quartz may be fucking difficult by rounding out a piece into a sphere and then smoothing out faceplates shouldn't be that monumentally difficult, no?

It is only slightly more radioactive than natural lead isotopes and emits in the form of alpha particles which are stopped by skin cells, clothing, paper etc.

The radioactivity is ONLY dangerous if you eat it or are missing your skin.

The danger is the dust particles.

Bet it feels really nice and makes a cool sound though. Especially on a glass table.

Not particularly DIFFICULT, but it would take a diamond grinding wheel

There a place where you can buy crazy ornate dice? Price isn't an issue and all that.

If I could snag some gold dice I'd be pretty happy. Hook me up?

I have these. Bloodstone dice for campaign in FR's Bloodstone Lands. I thought it'd be a fun thing to get. Unfortunately, they are tiny, and no one has any normal-sized versions in-stock. The 16mm were like forty bucks more than the 14mm, and I thought "eh, how much of a difference can it really make?" And then they arrived and the difference was vast, but the 16mms were all sold out, by then.

Black and yellow are always slick.

I've been looking forever for dark green dice with silver numbers because Slytherin4lyfe but no luck unfortunately

Shitty pic. They're dark green. Bloodstone is a semiprecious, green and red chalcedony.

Just as the user above said, tungsten is your choice. It is actually heavier than depleted uranium. The only heavier metals are iridium, osmium and platinum, all of which are insanely expensive.

I got mine during this kickstarter:
kickstarter.com/projects/124127689/precision-machined-metal-playing-dice/description

Grabbed a pair of aluminum and a pair of tungsten. They are visually identical, but the difference in weights is insane.

dont fall for the meme
ive heard dozens of people talking about how BS this website is
i remember seeing one photo a guy posted after waiting for 6 months for his dice and they were all kinds of chipped and fucked up

Is that a d20? How the fuck does that thing work?

badly, very badly

Came in here to post these, the metal ones kick ass

Haters gonna hate.

I feel ya buddy. I like to be able to see what I roll really quickly and easily.

They look edible.

if only they were :(

Is the rough surface part of the material or is it a powder glued on? Will it come off after using it intensely?

This.

I get it when people want cool/unique dice to collect or whatever, but plain chessex dice are the best to play with. Easy to roll, easy to read, what else do you need?

>my last opinion actually doesn't matter

Where can I get a set of these?

Apparently
