Knights still wore tabards throughout all of their existence, even in the twilight of knights as a military force. The way heraldic clothing was worn differed, and some knights would just paint their armor instead, but many still wore some form of shirt or skirt that displayed their colors or the colors of their overlord. Sometimes it was worn under the breastplate and projected from the shoulders with the sleeves covering the arm armor, or was worn completely under the armor with just a skirt visible under the faulds.
I've been wondering what the model for this armor is, considering that this illustration was by an American in the early 20th century? Just Arthurian fluff?

Looks like fairly standard 15th or 16th century stuff. The artist probably went to the Met, which has a shitload of plate armor.
Helmet is off however. That's a Great Helm with a rounded top, which became unfashionable at the start of the 15th century and was virtually completely out of use. It also looked completely different during that period and was far larger.

What's even the point of the sword then? You might as well just put big spiky punch knuckles on your fist armor and go to town with those.

Got anymore of these?

Punching is sometimes useful because it's quick and about as effective as a sword against a helm, meaning it makes loud, unsettling noises. Both of those guys are pretty shit, though. The answer to a kick is to grab at his leg and step through; even if you miss it you'll still knock him over. But both of them are afraid to wrestle and the guy with the sword in two hands is afraid to attack.

Here you go: the only decent HEMA video in existence. Unfortunately, there's not a single HEMA sparring video worth watching.
On second thought, I misspoke. There's some okay dagger and saber and maybe rapier stuff out there. There's nothing worth a damn with longsword or spear, though.
There's plenty of good HEMA videos. This for example has some REALLY good shows from the rapier.

See: There is good rapier and saber. AHF in general is pretty shit, though. All of the longsword guys just sit in Breve the entire time (which is something that period fencing masters explicitly say not to do over and over) and refuse to grapple. It causes a situation where the longer weapon always wins every time because you're forced to fight in a manner that puts you at a huge disadvantage. Also, every single one of their bouts is almost perfectly linear, which is the exact opposite of how longsword is supposed to work. All in all, it's closer to modern sport fencing than medieval combat.
