Don't get their hopes up. If by some chance it's new it just going to be for Khorne and be stupid. Flaming axe bows with chains. I can see it now.

So 8th relese is confirmed for December?

>confirmed new csm codex and range next month edition.
Wat?

I can shit post in either one, bub.

Feels a little too early for an 8th edition to me.
But why? What do you have to gain?

To summon the Carnac

Has to be.
Can't have a CSM codex unless its right before an edition change.

He's mostly in the AoS threads now, or Veeky Forums. It's been pleasant without him. Or would be without all the whining and people posting inane drivel just to bother people.
Because?

Newcomer to 40k here. I started collecting some Space Marines back in the day, roughly 7-10 years ago, and all of those Space Marines have much smaller bases than the new Space Marines, even some Dark Angels vets I picked up recently. Do I have to rebase each and every single one of them or can I still play them with the smaller bases?

naa,smaller bases are cool brah

you can play em with the smol bases

You can still use the smaller bases if you want. All old versions of models are still legal to use, including base sizes.

>Feels a little too early for an 8th edition to me.

>WHFB was ended in 8th ed

PANIC

Don't worry, user. I'm sure it won't end like Fantasy. Take this to calm your nerves.

>all those vores
tyranids confirmed for successors to humanity?

Excellent, thanks guys. The idea of having to rebase them gave me a headache.

They're probably a "chapter" variant of one of Ancient America's greatest heroes. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Just the IG or maybe the Tau. Have this picture now.

Currently working on a ghostkeel, shoudl I go with box pose or something more interesting? Been just cutting and cleaning parts.

Ask WIP
We only care about trolling orks, baiting CSM and demonizing Tau here.

have in in a prone position so it can get a cover save from your fire warriors

There are base adaptor kits ot there if you ever decide to, you dont even have to base the rims, you can just leave them like a decorative rim.

Requiem is so fucking based.

How do i paint Minotaurs? I was going to follow the tutorial on the blog "From the Warp" but the new tin bitz is way too fuckin dark. Any suggestions? I have an airbrush if it helps.

Pic related is the AESTHETIC I would like

How hard will this list get tabled?

>Combined Arms Detachment
Chaos Lord, Power Weapon
Chaos Space Marines, 15x additional chaos space marine, 20x mark of slaanesh, icon of excess, power weapon (they all have bolters, not CCW)

about 1000 points

everything that can deep strike will

Gold over brown base, wash brown, pin wash the corrosion.

Well this has been too much metal for me.

I modeled mine in a flying pose after I found that the clear flight-stands from drones slot perfectly into the knee joints.

Well, 'e's Venerate in' 'e? I've been t' over a hunnred worlds in my time in th' guard, and there's these statues all over what say "Venerate the Immortal Emperor"

I did a landing from a jump pose, modeled after the old finecast commander's pose.

Needed to put a small scenery piece under it's foot to get the angle, but it worked out well.

His name is Urist.

can vespid JSJ? i'm assuming they can't because of 2d6 movement instead of 6" but want to beg sure

Also, does ap3 really make a difference on S5 vs AP5?

I really want to like the vespid but even with thier I6 Ld9 and decent rules they just seem extremely worthless for the points cost

Vespid are jump infantry, not jetpack, so they can't JSJ but they can move 12" in the movement phase.

>they just seem extremely worthless for the points cost
That's just because they're in the Tau codex. As a unit, they're pretty dang solid.

You just have better tools at your disposal.

they suffer from being an all around not bad unit in a really cheesy army, they're bad by comparison

They are crisis made in China. They only work well in close-quarters like cities.

k, thanks for clarifying

Ahh i see, I see alot of people hating on the vespids but its simply because that its bad in comparison, not outright

I really want to use them for backline harassment, had my first match (500pts) on sunday and was getting constantly hammered by missile launchers, was thinking that vespid would be a good alternative to an elite slot to counter them

CSM already got their update for the year though in the form of the supplement re-prints. Their next codex should come out around Q1 2017 I think.

Already have an xv9 in that pose, can you post yours for reference?

Why are youtelling me?

user was saying the CSM were due for a codex upgrade so 8th had to be just around the corner, but CSM aren't getting a dex for a long time, so either 8th isn't coming out any time soon or CSM are slipping into NPC faction like SoB, Orks, Nids, Scions, etc and won't get a new codex ever again

AP3 vs AP5 honestly just comes down to what you're fighting.
If you know you're gonna be fighting a MEQ-type army, you can't get much better. Versus a GEQ-type army though, not so much.

Also, not really my place to say this, but don't not use Vespid just because they're sub-optimal.
It'd be a real breath of fresh air to see them on the table from an enemy's point-of-view, and i think it'd go a long way in terms of improving the reputation of Tau players in general. Plus, from a strategic point of view, I doubt most people who would play against you as Tau would think that you'd bring some.
[/soapbox]

Origin of claim is OP.

vespid models are finecast and in goofy poses

...

oh so it is

a bunch of other people are saying 8th is coming soon though. Previous editions have been two years apart. That youtuber Fritz seems to think 8th is going to shake things up a lot.

...

>finecast
>goofy poses
just proxy them in with sob seraphim
now they're metal with goofy poses :D

...

That looks pretty nice. how does that work with oval bases? they don;t have a front or anything like infinity right?

>those HUGE gaps on the weapon

because it is a creature and not a vehicle it's facing doesn't matter.

since its a monstrous creature it has a 360 degree firing arc, so the base doesnt really matter other than to take up space

I'm more concerned that I'll have to green stuff the bottom of the foot to not have huge holes in it, honestly.

Can wait though, it's fairly far back on my painting backlog.

Base size does, though. Blasts and close combat, not to mention simply interacting with terrain all use the base, rather than the model. .

not something I'd raise a stink over, but smaller than normal bases are frowned on for a reason

Ok, thanks. the narrow bit as the front would make it easier to hide the base I think too

It looks like its on the right oval base.

>It looks like its on the right oval base.
oh shit, I'm blind

looked like a circular base

funnily enough when it comes to terrain a larger base is usually better so you can get your toe into cover more easily

>somewhere I have some really ancient metal terminators on 25mm rounds

Yeah i'm thinking of ways to just play the game and have fun, at this point i doubt i'm going to be WAAC for a long time

Its a shame the kroot are fucking shit without an ethereal or an expensive leader and a hound, otherwise I would be playing around with the allied advance formation

>
Its a shame the kroot are fucking shit without an ethereal or an expensive leader and a hound, otherwise I would be playing around with the allied advance formation

>7ppm sniper with MtC are shit, that can cme in groups of 30,and have obsec
tau players

Iron hands saving the lives of canis and his thunderwolf, smurfs to the rescue on the world wolf lair, inquisitor revealing to Ragnar that the homo Angels had traitors during the heresy - yiff haters beat the fuck out
Also grey knights have a wulfen caged up and can testify no warp taint in him

all kroot really need are some more plastic options. Plastic oxen, hounds and a shaper is all the unit wants.

They aren't the best units ever but to claim they need to be better is utterly delusional.

groups of 20 not 30, 6+ armor save, if you add sniper rounds they are the same cost per unit as fire warriors because you are always going to need the shaper and hound

the only thing that makes them worthwhile is the infiltrate + acute senses, but you already have better options for that from stealth suits

Why do you need either?and 6+ is entirely irreverent, if you arent putting them in cover you are wasting your time, and their rules. infiltrate means you can grentee they will be in range to attack a specific target, from turn one. 20 snipers means 5 wounds regardless of toughness, which is pretty nice. point is they are cheap, and can both hold back and mid feild objectives, whilst also putting out a modest amount of fire power
i cant recall off the top of my head, but dont they also have like stelth(forests) or something? not great, but it basically means 4++ everywhere

as someone who plays orks,CSM and C:SM,let me tell you:kroot are not bad

>i cant recall off the top of my head, but dont they also have like stelth(forests) or something? not great, but it basically means 4++ everywhere

does stealth forests also work in ruins? otherwise thats not 4++ everywhere

are you saying tactical marines are worse than kroot?

point for point, i would say yes. tacs have a serious identity crisis.

thats not to say tacs are bad in all circumstances, (eg demi-company), or really 'bad' at all in compared to some troops (i'm looking at you slugga boys) but they sufferer from being generalists in a game that rewards specialists.

>4++ everywhere

>what is ignore cover

you would need the shaper because you are going to be nowhere near an ethereal if you take one, 7ld and pretty bad saves is just a recipe for your entire unit legging it instead of doing their job

if you are taking snipers, its 8ppm with a shaper, not 7ppm

>thinks tacticals are worse than kroot
Space Marine players everyone.

>Generalizing based on one person

Tacticals are garbage compared to the other options SM has, but not as bad as kroot.

i mean, sure you can just post smug green text instead of an argument, thats you choice i guess.not saying i am 100% right, just give me something to work with here

What tasks do the Fire Caste do while not at war or in reserves? Is it endless training and wargames or something else?

Why is every flyer ugly as fuck?

No faction has a good looking flyer. Eldar, maybe, come closest.

Good flyers are on Forgeworld.

>What tasks do the Fire Caste do while not at war or in reserves? Is it endless training and wargames

Yes.

Except for Shas'o, who have the option of retiring, although most don't.

Hunting and getting drunk.

Can Kroot eat Tyranids? What would happen if they did?

there's no point, you'd wouldn't change your mind. You'd just go on thinking tacticals are worse. I don't play tau, and I can tell you without a doubt, if I did I would never take kroot. Ever.

Here you go. Tacticals have:

>3+ saves vs a 6+
>options for special and heavy weapons
>options for good cheap transports
>atsknf
>sergeants have a chance to do something in challenges
>better S, T, BS, I, and leadership
>combat squads

Tacticals can at least be made slightly useful. Kroot are just fodder, and will get run down by basically anything in assault or shot/flamed off the board in droves. The only reason for someone telling a tau player to use kroot is if they want to beat the person.

>not liking glorious necron croissants.
Hon hon hon.

The Shapers have declared them inedible. Dunno what would happen, maybe they'd die or go insane or something.

Don't let a space marine player tell you kroot aren't shit unless he runs scout snipers.

They have under the control of the hivemind.

The Kroot don't just assimilate the genes of what they eat, they assimilate the thought patterns and personality of their prey.

They can't and won't, for a very good reason.
Tyranids aren't eaten even by bacteria and carrion eaters. Nids are toxic as fuck, and eating them is a very, very bad idea.

Just don't like the pilot. Thankfully a lychguard shield fits over the gap nicely.

Why don't they label books better?

A kid at my FLGS almost bought last editions Tau codex because the guy working only knew MtG.

That would make a cool themed army.

>Nids are toxic as fuck
Tyranids are /pol/? :^)

Orks have eaten Tyranids. In fact, Orks make comments that certain types of Tyranids are very delicious.

Also Necron Flayed Ones devoured some Tyranids too.

Orks believe tasty things are fine, therefore they are immune to the nasty shit you get from eating tyranid

Necrons are whatever the fuck

Orks are so hardy that them being able to ingest nids sorta makes sense.

Also, flayed ones don't eat anything. They just shove shit into their metal mouths ad grind it up because they are retards.

If so, what % occupies the Fire Caste in every Sept? How many resources are dedicated to Fire Caste military. Is there anything productive they can do while in long-time (years) reserves?

Shame. It'd be neat to have some nid infested Imperium world with cowboy styled PD munching on Tyranid bits because all the native fauna is dead.

They can eat Necrons too! The result is not more pleasant.

> Is there anything productive they can do while in long-time (years) reserves?

probably consulting with earth caste to build and improve wargear/defences/vehicles

How does that even work? Can they eat tanks as well? Baneblades?

I think KillTeam had a Sharper with +3 Armor save because he ate a bloody Tyranid. Fuck the fluff.

Living Metal.

>endless training and wargames

That's the logical conclusion. Higher ranking members probably study military theory if the paragraphs about travelling to see Puretide is any indication. Shadowsun also has a personal dilemma about joining a breeding program so that's something that Fire Warriors might get up to.

>If so, what % occupies the Fire Caste in every Sept?

Don't ask GW for hard numbers.

>How many resources are dedicated to Fire Caste military.

Well, how do you break that down? Because resources dedicated to the Earth Caste often wind up in Fire Caste hands.

Basically all Tau resources are dedicated to expansion, either directly through conquest and diplomacy, or indirectly through research and training.

>Is there anything productive they can do while in long-time (years) reserves?

Every four years of service, a firewarrior undertakes a Trial of Fire, to attempt promotion to the next rank.

Aside from that, they train. But it's a more modern real world style of training than, say, Space Marines. They not only exercise and practice accuracy and discipline, but also study the art of warfare and maintain military academies. The higher ranking members also advise the Tau military council. They also use cryotech during long FTL trips.

Keep in mind Firewarriors prepare to fight from the moment they're born. Even before conception, generations of selective breeding have prepared their genetics for combat. As soon as they're able, they're split into groups that will persist for life, and train for years until they're promoted to Shas'la and sent off to expand the Empire.
