How do you feel about humans not having magic but still having the best tech? How do you think Humans would be view for this?

They would be seen as having the best tech.

In the ase of arbitrarily assigning societal/racial bonus's? It's not the most transgressive. It's not bad, but not good either.

>that one guy in the back
"Aw man it's just like high school, all the pretty girls are bullying me, I wish I was back in the latrine shitting my skeleton out"

Wonder what they want from him?

To see what's hiding under the mask and hood, of course. Then insult him about how forest-green is so ranger.
Also to ask why the others are wearing earmuffs in such nice weather.

Big ol' human dick.

>shitting my skeleton out
Kek

>How do you think Humans would be view for this?
The same way older people always view young'uns with fancy new gizmos.

>Computers are terrible. They make everything too easy!
>Washing machines and toasters are terrible. What are women supposed to do if not tend the home?
>Trains are terrible. People were not meant to travel at such speeds!
>Writing is terrible. Nobody memorizes things anymore!
>Fire bad! How children learn survive cold?

Are these elves matriarchal? I don't see a single male. That might cause issues.

This is a diplomatic meeting. I am sure they will be professional and control themselves.

Why are there Castanics from TERA in the same picture with what appears to be modern-day soldiers?

Why are people calling Castanics Elves? They're literally just demon spawn.

>elves
that's clearly a race of succubi or their descendants

truth be told, the humans are just getting some info from the locals to aid an unrelated mission

Are they at least friendly? And why is every alien race we meet either insane, somehow related to demons, an insect hivemind, or a combination of the formers?

Id say even if some fantasy fucks invade and disable all modern technology we'd still put up a hell of a fight.

what makes you think this is first contact?

in-context it's just a unit gathering info from a nearby settlement

these literal semen demons seem friendly enough

they're bringing an understandable show of force but don't seem to be impeding the process in any way

they've even progressed to the point that they go around fully dressed, which is much better than their ancestors ever did

Ender's Game at least did insect hivemind right. The Formics had no idea humans were intelligent because they couldn't talk to us because we aren't a telepathic hivemind. They just assumed we were a particularly widespread indigenous pest that needed to be removed if colonization was to proceed.
Once the Hive Queens understand that humans are both intelligent and individuals, she stops trying to kill them and leaves them alone (but we kill them anyway because you just never know amirite)
Then the Hive Queen has this warped perception of the whole thing: she cares about humanity, and wants it to survive, but she doesn't really care about humans themselves. After all, only Formic queens can reproduce. If you kill a worker or drone, that's not a big deal. Killing a Queen is a huge deal because you've closed off a genetic pathway. Any human can reproduce, so if a million or so die in a plague, it's not a big deal, right? They've got all those other humans on other worlds, right? They'll be fine.

bump

They'd get as far as eastern europe and then all hell breaks loose for them

One of my favorite tropes and ciches in science-fantasy. The idea that we don't have immortal leaders, incredible farsight, the ability to spawn incredible numbers, sight in the dark, strength, speed or agility. We have brutally short lives when compared to the standard fantasy races and typically do so when confronted by the alien.

I love that our adaptability, toughness and tenaciousness is what wins us the fight in most fiction.

>Xcom with Terra

What Game?
>tfw you will never deploy to a fantasy world and teach maidens the wonders of the modern world

Humanity FUCK YEAH

Wow this thread has surprisingly little people trying to fuck the aliens/fantasy creatures

>Xcom
Where?

That happens later.

If the humans are as advanced as the empire from warhammer fantasy it could work. If they are as advanced as in OPs pic then it's pretty retarded and reeks of HFY bullshittery, aka the dumbest thing Veeky Forums ever came up with.

Here is that guy again

Why are Castanics wearing ebony armour from Skyrim?

>"Lady, I am on a damn mission. Can you please stop trying to get in my pants so I can do my job?"

We're not trying to make a setting out of it, calm down, damn son

Even if we were the other races have magic to compensate so I don't see the problem.

>dat trigger discipline

Probably the same reason why one of them is toting Andúril and why they're talking to dudes from Black Ops 2 while standing on grass from Titanfall.

It's just ragdolls posed in Garry's Mod.

You know, I'd actually really like to play a game in a setting where modern/semi-modern human soldiers roll into a fantasy setting and actually befriend the locals. You know, really get their diplomacy on and help them fight off a common threat instead of simply invading and taking it all over.

He's right tho.

What if the fantasy world's magical and martial abilities were comparable to the Humans' technological and martial ones? Neither one is exactly better than the other and each has their own strengths and weaknesses.

RIFTS is HFY bullshittery. You heard it here, folks.

Assuming tech isn't just inferior to magic, why hasn't every other race adopted technology yet?
I mean sure, maybe they're not as good at inventing it, but that's not stopping them from using it. Most technology is dead simple by design.

And then they become objectively better because now they have magic and technology.

Sometime soon in my current campaign, the coastal kingdom my PCs helped save is going to be attacked by a technologically superior nation of hobgoblins from overseas. They will be armed with iron steam ships, cannons, and firearms but my players and their allies are armed with magic and possess many allies in the region. I think it's going to be a fun campaign.

>I mean sure, maybe they're not as good at inventing it, but that's not stopping them from using it. Most technology is dead simple by design.

If they lack the infrastructure to make technology themselves, that's a pretty big disadvantage. You're not going to leap from medieval technology to the 21st century in a day. If you look at insurgencies IRL, it's one thing to get your hands on a few guns, another thing entirely to have jet planes, aircraft carriers, helicopters, and special forces with modern training, tactics and military intelligences. It could be a pretty cool scenario actually, more like Mad Max fantasy with a mixture of really shitty, makeshift technology and magic fighting the modern world.

But if you wanted to preserve the whole modern day vs medieval fantasy thing, you could say they are ideological Luddites who hate using technology, or that magic tends to bust post-industrial techology.

>do you know these creature can withstand immense cold and heat, cold that would make your boggards stop working just requires them to put on some heat retaining fabric.
>Their planet is full with health hazards, yet they still live twice as long as us.
>for fucks sake their bodys even operate on oxigen, how the fuck do you survive as a species on a planet that thrives on oxigen based lifeforms.
>lifeforms on that planet actually have to hunt other creatures with nerf endings for flesh, there are no fleshgrowers anywhere.
>do you know how they fucking hunted? THEY TRACKED IT FOR DAYS, THEY ACTUALLY FOLLOWED THEIR PREY UNTIL IT DROPPED DEAD. these guys are fucking nightmare fuel i tell you.

where is this stuff from anyway ?

HFY, is okay in moderate doses, but when humans who are known for their versatility start regularly out-specialising the specialist races, it's time for some falling rocks on that magical realm.
