Fastest Man in 5e

What is the fastest speed a PC can achieve in 5e, and how would you make it happen, Veeky Forums?

The better question is "Why would I bother? If I'm absolutely hellbent on having a ridiculously fast character, I'll just play Mutants&Masterminds."

DM is hell bent on using 5e to run a cape campaign, despite better alternatives. Great Dm aside from that, though, so I'm inclined to play

Wood Elf Rogue 2/Monk 18. Rogue lets you Dash as a bonus action. You can Dash up to your speed. The base speed of a Monk by 17th level is +30 ft. A Woof Elf's base speed is 35 feet.

So that lets you move up to 195 ft/round without having to expend any ki. Since 1 round is 6 seconds, that's about 22.16 miles per hour.

Throw in some magic items to increase your base speed and you can go even faster.

Speed-bump.

Oh, pick up the Mobile feat as well, which gives you +10 base land speed.

So your base movement is 75 ft. You can Dash, Bonus Dash, and Move up to 225 ft./round, or about 25.57 mph.

>DM is hell bent on using 5e to run a cape campaign
Oh god, it's happening again.

I love these Gary Fucking Oak-esque things

So I move 65 ft, use my bonus action to dash another 130 ft, and I still have my action to attack...pretty neat, thank you.

I've been thinking about doing a level or two from the psionic class listed in unearthed arcana on wizards' website; the celerity dicipline gives you advantage on initiative checks and +5 to movement, along with some one neat tricks.

I love the character, and the fact that the whole image sums him up perfectly.

No, this is using your Action, your Bonus, and your Movement, all to move. You won't actually get an attack.

Using Mobility you can Move 75 feet and bonus Dash another 75 feet (150 ft. total), and attack at some point during that movement; OR you can Move 75 feet, bonus Dash 75 feet, and then Action Dash 75 feet (225 ft. total).

I don't just wanna go fast.

I gotta go fast.

Yeah, it's not exactly the best system to run something fast-paced.
Some would say it's the Reverse.
>Gary Oak
Nigga please. If Ash got married to a woman Gary liked, Gary wouldn't kill her to spite the both of them. Professor Zoom did that to Flash, and then when Flash married another woman, Zoom tried to kill her on their wedding day leading to Flash snapping Zoom's neck to protect her, and he didn't even know that woman. The pettiness of Gary Oak does not even compare to that of Professor Zoom.

Huh, I thought a dash let you move twice your movement speed. Oh well

He's such a shitlord, and I love it. His whole motivation is just "Oh hello Flash I see you are happy let me fuck that up for you."

In my experience, the combat runs decently fast. At least, it does at low levels. I don't know about the higher levels yet.

I've never played Mutants and Masterminds. How fluid is the system?

The system is solid.

>Professor Zoom is the Archnemesis of only one of the Flashes, Barry Allen
>Barry's successor as the Flash was Wally West, who had to deal with Zoom
>Zoom is as much a successor to Professor Zoom as Wally is to Barry
>one time he fucking bodyslammed Wally's somewhat pregnant wife, delivering a surpised abortion to their unborn twins
>this fucked up Wally's life for months
>later Zoom summons Professor Zoom so they can team up on Wally
>Professor Zoom comments on what a great successor Zoom is
Comic books are great.

It's solid, but combat moves pretty quickly.

It's refreshing, in this age of pathos and gravitas, to get a villain who's just a dick for the sake of being a dick.

The only problem is it can break easy if you push it.

But the makers KNEW that, and warn you about it pretty strongly in the forward, and keep warning you on particularly strong effects. The game is meant to be fun for everyone, and rather then Rule 0, the book flat out states that if a power is being unfun for the group, to disallow it. This prevents autists from crying about its' not in the book and all.

But the biggest, simplest rule is:
Would you want to watch/read a cartoon/comic about this guy? If not, you dun fucked up, remake'm.

monk barbarian rogue

wear no armor and dash around with your bonus action for a bunch of fast.

What's the fastest speed with all the spells and abilities a man can achieve? How fast is his acceleration?

>acceleration
Literally nothing in the game measures that. Fuck man, it doesn't even give you a top speed, it gives you your average top speed in a combat situation.

Aarakocra (50ft flying)
Monk 15 (75ft flying)
Barbarian 5 (85ft flying)
Mobile feat (95ft flying)
Haste from a caster friend (190ft flying)
Dash (380ft flying)
Bonus action dash with Step of the Wind (570ft flying).

Congrats, you're flying 65 miles per hour for a full minute.

Sweet Christ, you'd be Harvey Birdbarian, Attorney of Fast.

Yeah, I don't think acceleration would factor in, but I'd be interested to see if you had a wizard in tow buffing the hell out of the speedster, how crazy things could get.

I would like more villains like this, who aren't just Joker-tier autists.

Get Boots of Speed, then get a Haste spell cast on you.

It's the most flexible system out there. It's not only for capes, you can fit anything there, but you should beware of two things:

1- Battles are fast paced. The higher the PL, the faster the battles unfold.
2- Specialists NPCs, say a Scientist, should break some rules so their relevant skills are useful. Basically, you don't want Batman being smarter than Albert Einstein, even if Batman is smart, so let Albert Einstein break his "PL cap" on the relevant skills so no "hero" surpass him on his stuff.

A wood elf monk 18/Rogue 2 with mobile if you need a PC.
Base wood elf speed: 35ft
+ 25 from monk +10 from mobile (70ft per turn total which is some 23 m/s)
Then take the dash action and cunning action to double that stuff.

Basically yo'd be faster than a car.
In fact you need to be an ANCIENT dragon with 120 ft flight speed to be even able to catch up.

>70ft per turn total which is some 23 m/s
A turn is 6 seconds, user.

70 feet per turn is 3.5 m/s, which is less than 8 miles per hour.

Everyone else had said it's good, so I'll tell you what to watch out for.

It is an easily broken system. By virtue of being more narrative-y, there are some glaring abuses possible.
If you have anyone in your group that's a physicsfag, be prepared to smack them down hard.

By virtue of the above, your players will come to you with stuff they think will be fun and might look somewhat broken; Impervious Man, Greased Lightning, The Amazing Teleport-Away-From-Anything Man.
Abuses that aren't on purpose can be toned down, or you can just roll with it, and give them interesting encounters that don't just use an nemesis that hard counters them.
For example, Impervious Man will be very slow, and can be bound and slowed until he can be hit.

As long as they aren't trying to break everything, and are just having silly comic book fun, it'll be good.

70ft/turn is actually slower than someone taking a run action.

This. It's pretty underwhelming actually; the highest possible speed a highly evolved avian race can attain in flight is less than 15m/s. I guess technically it could be faster for six seconds every 1 hour and 6 seconds if we take 2 levels in fighter for action surge Dash, but still. Sad!

Shit I forgot that Haste lets you dash again, so you get up to 760ft per turn, which puts you up to ~86 MPH.

Oh shit, I forgot that monk has that ki shit. I guess it isn't really that underwhelming after all.

Your syntax is bad and hard to follow, here it is in a better format:

Aarakocra: 50ft
Monk15: +25
Barb5: +10
Mobile: +10
BASE SPEED: 95ft

Haste -> Speed is doubled
MODIFIED SPEED: 190ft

During one 6-second turn:
Movement: 190ft
Action Dash: +190ft
Bonus action Dash: +190ft
Haste extra action Dash: +190ft

But you're wrong, it can be even faster (cont.)

RACIAL:
Aarakocra: 50ft

STATIC BONUSES:
Monk15: +25ft
Barb5: +10ft
Mobile: +10ft
{
Magic Initiate (Longstrider)
OR
Have the wizard cast longstrider
}: +10ft
BASE SPEED: 105ft

MULTIPLIER BONUS:
Haste: x2
MODIFIED SPEED: 210ft

During one 6-second turn:
Movement: 210ft
Action Dash: +210ft
Bonus action Dash: +210ft
Haste extra action Dash: +210ft
TOTAL DISPLACEMENT: 840ft

Average velocity: 840ft / 6s

=140 ft/s
~95 mph

~43 m/s
~154 km/h

Throw on Boon of Speed for an extra 30ft of base speed. 135 base, 270 Haste, 1080 with all the dashes. Gets you up to 122 mph.

Fuckin beauty. Now get another two wizard friends and another aarakocra with the same class levels.

Second wizard hastes and longstrides second aarakocra
Third wizard Enlarges second aarakocra
First aarakocra mounts the second aarakocra and rides it 1080 ft and then flies 1080 feet himself.

AND THEN GET HORSESHOES OF SPEED AND THEN this needs to stop
